The pumpkin soup is awesome and the portion is very good. The food spread has very many options and the alacarte menu is also expansive.
All together a great food joint along the highway in St Valentin. I loved the food. And service is great too

We ate at Weindlhof in July 2011. We found the place by chance, as we were looking for a restaurant for lunch. We simply followed some signs in the village of Mauthausen.
And we were not disappointed by our choice... What a nice place this is..! We had lunch on the Terrace, overlooking the Donau river. The chef only works with fresh, local products, simply and beautifully cooked in order to preserve their inner quality. The lamb was absolutely delicious and so tender. The dessert was brilliantly executed and it was worth waiting! (see picture). We have been quite impressed with the excellent quality-price ratio of this amazing, gastronomic restaurant. We strongly recommend it.

One of my favourite things is hiking the Austrian countryside in autumn. Another one of my favourite things is eating good food. After a lovely 3 hour hike, I had worked up an appetite and my friend and I decided to have a bite to eat at Gasthaus Ahorner, which boasts hospitality since 1897. The place was bustling, and we were lucky to get a table.
The vibe inside is typically Austrian, with a bit of live folk Music (but I don't know if they're always there). Service was friendly.
The dish of the day was the goose, but we opted for the "Blasensteiner Gourmetpfandl", which is a pan of deliciously succulent medallions of pork fillet in a choice of either pepper cream sauce or mustard and herb sauce. Accompanied by fresh, bursting with bright green broccoli, a potato rosti AND what looked like a spring roll but was actually mashed potato in pastry.... O.M.G. At €14.50, the dish also comes with an amazing mix of salad (pumpkin, cabbage, greens and more). The dish was satisfying enough that I could have eaten just 3/4 of it, but delicious enough that I ate it ALL.
To wash it down, I enjoyed the BIO Zwickel Beer (it is neither clarified nor pasteurised).
We were really lucky to get a table. Bookings are recommended.

We were driving through Mauthausen at noon and stopped at Muhlviertlerhof for lunch. There were several people sitting outside but we got a table inside. The menu was in several languages. The female server was speaking German but she was very nice and helped us order. I had a nice snack plate with cold cuts, cheese and salad and my wife had a large salad. The food was good and the location of the restaurant on the river was scenic.

The location is very nice, the restaurant is also very nice aesthetically, but the food is definitely not something sublime. The dishes are beautifully presented and the food well-seasoned, but perhaps of little Italian. Enns should definitely charge to make us a stop

I ate at this restaurant twice already after some time, and each time the dishes were good and plentiful. If the weather is good I recommend the outdoor veranda that because inside it feels very warm. The friendly staff and quick ready to meet any need. The dishes are typical of the Austria. Excellent meat and generous salads. Also excellent Kaiserschmarrn.

Upon arriving in Wallsee outside of the peak tourist season we were apprehensive to learn that only two restaurants might be open. We stumbled upon the wallseerhof quite by chance, taken in by the stunning countryside views. The bar area had a homely feel; we were the only non locals present and whilst the welcome was warm I proceeded to set my expectations for food low. What we received blew my mind. The experience was akin to walking into a local village pub and being served a dish prepared by a Michelin star chef. Top grub.

We enjoyed a fabulous evening in this quiet restaurant. The food was delicious, the wine selection was respectable, and the service was excellent! Great value!

the restaurant is great, the food is very good and the staff friendly and nice. Big parking area is available just outside the restaurant. It might not be the easiest place to find but the location is great!!! You feel like you're home!
