I think it has to be accepted that Greek Taverna food is pretty good wherever you go,especially on the Islands but the menus tend to offer the same choices therefore when you discover a venue offering something a bit different or special in whatever way, then it has to be commended and Vassilis falls into this category with ease...of curse the menu offers dishes instantly recognizable but the way Vassilis presents the food is so much more stylish than the norm ...it is not cheap however but the location and quality merits the extra cost I would say !
Quayside location, excellent outside tables and a great ambiance helped by the ever friendly staff, not all of whom are Greek !
The wine list made for some interesting Reading while we ordered our dinner : a range from 380 euro bottles to carafes at 6.90....2 course dinner with aperos and a carafe was 64 euros....would go back most certainly.

Introducing Carnayo Restaurant, Gaios, Paxos, Greece As chef and owner I would like to take the opportunity to introduce myself and my restaurant to you and your guests. Paxiot born, my training was undertaken in Germany. Taking this knowledge and experience I returned to my homeland to o!er the best of Greek cuisine. Located in Gaios, the capital of the island, we can be found just 200 metres from the main square. Our kitchen is based on local, seasonal ingredients, a contemporary take on tradi)onal dishes. A good selec)on of wines, liquors and spirits are readily available and we pride ourselves on home-made delicious food, our bread is baked daily on the premises as are our desserts. We are happy to accommodate group bookings and menus can be tailor made to your requirements. Our interna)onal clientele gives us the experience to provide excep)onal service and ensure that your visit is a memorable one. We look forward to mee)ng you. Spyros Tranakas and team
A place in a distance from the crowd, nice design. But it't empty and I understand why! House wine is disgusting (at least red). Menu is poor and expensive for the location. As for main course they didn't have enough portions to serve for everyone....MoreNo coment....... :0)

Genesis is situated opposite the Green Man statue a short walk from the main square of Gaios where you will enjoy beautiful views of Gaios Harbor, St Nicholas Island, the Island of Panayia (Virgin Mary) as well as views of Mainland Greece. Whether you visit Genesis during the day or the evening you can be assured of spectacular views in very pleasant surroundings .If you come by car it is easy to park.Genesis is a family owned taverna with Greek hospitality at its best. The menu is extensive, traditional Greek food and many other dishes, something for everyone to enjoy. The cafe bar serves a wide range of drinks, fruit salads, ice creams and various snacks. Genesis has the reputation of the best "Greek Doughnuts" on Paxos, you must try them.
Saturday nights are a particular pleasure as they include dancing - a mixture of professional Greek traditional dancing demonstrated and with audience participation.
Th food and service is reliably good and good value, especially as a starter of bruschetta and a sweet of crispy pastry balls in honey are usually provided as 'freebies'.
Very friendly service overseen by Alexandris and attentive and cheery staff. Great location at the harbour entrance.

I am surprised this Taverna has not been reviewed before as it is long established, always full and really good value. It is located in a small side street just behind the harbour road, next to Lisa's Place and the Harbour Lights Bar. It is a traditional family run taverna which cooks either fresh for you, from the Souvlaki Grill or from a number of pre-cooked dishes which you can view in the kitchen. The prices are really good too. And because it is always busy it has a good atmosphere - Ok the views aren't as good as the harbour side, but you can eat well here for value and then go for a walk and drink at the harbour later.
On your first visit to Alexandros restaurant, you are invited into the kitchen to view the food while Alexandros explains what they are, Rabbit, Chicken and much more, it's a nice touch, the guy is great.
Some local musicians turned up and before you know it, you are treated to Alexlandros impromptu Greek danicng.
The food here is absolutely first class, with a great choice of local dishes. The service is a bit slow at times due to how busy they are, but the wait is worth it. The wine is good, the food is tasty and plenty of it. The Moussaka is one of the best I've ever had.
You just have got to go this place, you won't regret it and I'm sure you will visit more than once

This restaurant is tucked away a little way from the main square in Lakka. The menu choice was amazing and the staff were very friendly and helpful. I had sweet red peppers in garlic and balsamic followed by lamb with pasta. Both were excellent washed down with a very nice house red wine. We shall return.

Went once to have drinks and watch the sunset then booked to go back for dinner on out last evening.
The setting is amazing with views to die for.
We found all the staff very friendly with excellent service.
We loved the food. I had mussels followed by the prawn pasta which was so good. My husband had the special salad followed by steak which he said was delicious.
Expensive but worth it.

We have just returned from our lovely Paxos holiday and again would like to thank Yanni for the amazing hospitality he and his team show to customers. We have eaten here many times over the last four years and keep going back, that speaks for itself. Everything is lovely and there is huge variety and choice. Rapid turnover of dishes means that different things are available at different times but this ensures greater variety over a period of time for anyone staying for a few weeks. This year's bbq belly pork was particularly delicious and we love the range of vegetable dishes on offer. A particular favourite is artichokes a la polita.

We always try to visit every time we visit Paxos. It is not the best taverns but always popular and the family try to fit everyone in even those that don't make a reservation, like our 4!
I think that in high season people expect too much from families trying to make enough money to see them through the long off season. Paxos is not the sort of place where you can easily recruit staff just for a few weeks so the pressure is on the owners, who do sometimes struggle. You are on holiday, just relax!
Our grandchildren both had the mussels which were finished off with 2 baskets of bread. We had the pork chop and the grilled squid. Both generous portions, very tasty and OK value.
