Lovely meal in pleasant surroundings ......good prices....I would have given 5* had there been a larger choice

We were staying in a rented house 20 minutes from Parthenay so were relieved to find Moopy's open on a Sunday night. The food was very good, pizza, hamburgers and chicken wings to die for. We wanted takeaway and the staff were very accomodating although busy with the restaraunt itself. We went back again another night as everyone enjoyed the food.

First came across this restaurant on an Easter weekend. Nothing open in Parthenay expect this place. Menu seemed OK so rather than pointlessly wandering any further we plumped for it. Not surprisingly it was rather busy but the very friendly lady waiting on tables squeezed us in. The restaurant is small, I'd guess no more than 40 covers pressed together quite closely in a single room. The table on which we were sat was one of 5 "tables for two" all pushed together into one "table for ten" but they were being used by individual couples. A really nice way to get chatting to someone if you are so inclined,
The meat, we both had the lamb, was superb and there was loads of it. I allowed my self to be talked into trying the speciality "truffade" which I would not personally have again (but do try it, it is interesting and they are very proud of it).
The service was good, the wine lovely (we just relied on the waiting lady to advise us), the food excellent and the ambience was great.
I have been back once more several months after my first trip and was not disappointed.

La Citadelle is a charming restaurant in the ancient town of Parthenay. We were delighted by the smiley service and good food and wine, all at a reasonable price. The restaurant was busy, with quite a few British guests, some of whom struggled with the menu and staff; if you travel in France, learn the language or at least make an effort!

We have had several meals at this superb restuarant. The standard of food is what you would expect from a Michelin starred establishment, the menu is imaginative, very well cooked and presented with style- the cheeseboard is exceptional. The service is excellent, attentive not overbearing and the atmosphere is relaxed we spent four hours over a Sunday lunch once! Would recommend making a special trip to visit this place.

Since our last visit this lovely little restaurant has enhanced it's choice of menu to include something to suit everyone including a vegetarian burger, almost unheard of in France. Everything is cooked from scratch including the fries and the delicious black bread which is home to a delicious burger. Cooked with a passion for good food and served with a smile. Definitely worth a visit.

We booked this restaurant for the evening to celebrate a special occassion. We had the whole restaurant for our party of 34 guests. We had a fantastic meal that was beautifully presented espicially the way the two desserts had been personalised with beautiful marzipan designs.
We highly recommended the Bergerie as a place for large groups as well as a very good quality everyday lunchtime restaurant. It has an excellent chef who serves freshly cooked quality food at reasonable prices

Visited on a Sunday evening with friends and were able to sit out on the pleasant rear Terrace. Tables well-spaced and smart, comfortable seats. (Unfortunately a close neighbour was doing a lot of shouting).
The fixed price menu was fine (see website) and we had a selection from each. All good, though I chose the veal and although this was quite large, it was also quite dry with a very small Neapolitan sauce.
Reasonable wine choice.
Service from just the one young lady was very good and we had the impression that the whole team was very small. We had reserved but really needn't have.

With the advantage of being open mid-August (not all were) except Sunday, we ate here twice - popular, so booking recommended (as we hadn't we had to sit at streetside tables on the second visit). I'm instructed to mention the excellent steaks and choc mousse! All food good and reasonably priced.
