Kapilavastu near KSRTC bus station is one of the best in Palakkad area for vegetarian food and they serve authentic vegetarian dishes. The restaurant is maintained well, with good Seating and the service is also good. The Thali meals is really good with quality rice and several side dishes. The parking is an advantage since the town is always crowded. Nice restaurant to dine with family.

Disclaimer: We'd ordered just a day before Onam 2017 so maybe their head chef was either ultra busy or not available during this festive season, because our experience wasn't in line with most of the TA reviews here.
We ordered a massive variety of starters and main course for our large group of 8, spending nearly 3K for what is otherwise a very reasonably priced restaurant. Some dishes were good, others mediocre, some completely avoidable.
Starters: Chilly Chicken was barely edible, overfried and very dry. Chilly Beef was ok-ok. Paneer Tikka was dry too.
Main Course:
1. Malabar Chicken wasn't available so we ordered Nadhan Curry. That was good.
2. Pepper chicken: Seriously hot, but we managed to wade through half of it.
3. Paneer Masala dish (can't remember the name): Mediocre.
4. Chicken Biryani: Some found it good, others ok.
5. Pathiri: Was nice, but since we couldn't have the right accompaniment to this (Malabar chicken), it was under-appreciated.
6. Kerala Parotha: Was ok.
Desserts: Decided against it.
Will any of us every eat here again? Unlikely. Unless somebody tells us that what we were served wasn't what they usually dish out and that there's a much better fare on usual days!

Our family visits flavours every once in a while over the last year. Food is pretty decent and apart from slight variations in quality, most of the times, they are able to deliver on the food front. Over the year though, the ambiance has deteriorated slowly; primary on the cleanliness front. Tables, floor are occasionally spotty, flies have created a nuisance and the entire experience is definitely a step down from what it was when we first visited the place. On the other hand, the staff is helpful and their willingness to modulate spiciness/flavours to your requirements is definitely a plus. It will be a good step on their end to they take action now to improve things.

Aishwarya Home Mess is quite literally a small hole-in-the-wall eatery, dishing out the most exotic and almost forgotten Palakkaad Brahmin snacks. Started in the 1950's by, this unique eatery is now run by the tall and lanky Mr.Guru (his father had started the place) and the affable Mr.Narayanan. It is located in New Kalpathy Agraharam - a notified Heritage Site.
This place opens it's shutters at 3 pm (Mon to Sat) with a whole range of delicacies on display. Rare and exotic item like Mor Appam and the jackfruit laced Elai Adai are Aishwarya's specialities. So also are the round chilli bhajji, dal vadas, sevai, raw banana bhajji and bondas. Their range of sweets like jangri, nai appam and mysorepak are not to be missed. They also serve the finest filter coffee the way you like it.
Aishwarya is so popular with the residents of Kalpathy agraharam that most of the goodies get lapped up within minutes of preparation.
A couple of years back, this eatery used to open for breakfast too, but they have discontinued the morning service.
We are regular visitors to Palakkad (from Mumbai) and know the city and all it's vegetarian eateries very well. Given this background, I can say with all confidence that there is none like Aishwarya. Not in Palakkad and not anywhere in the world. No wonder that a prestigious publication like THE HINDU has written about this wonder eatery a couple of years back (31st Aug 2014).

This is on the highway from Coimbatore to Palakkad. We stopped for dinner. Kerala Parathas was soft and fluffy. The pepper chicken we ordered was really good.
