I had been there twice before and was wowed. I returned last night with y daughter and granddaughter and again were very pleasantly surprised. The service was very efficient and above all personable and attentive and the Fondue selection outstanding. The taste delicious. the prices very reasonable. It was a very great evening in a nice and cozy ambience and I will return many more times and can really recommend this place for an authentic Swiss dinner experience. The restaurant is frequented by locals.

We went back to Orsières and this restaurant, after having known and enjoyed the previous chef. It is indeed an incredible experience...! We took the big menu, and wines to match, The service is very attentive and professional. What is amazing is what you get in your plates : a composition of various foods, in layers and making at times a sort of monument, with absolutely first class ingredients, but so tangled and making it hard to find the original taste of the best components in the dish...An example : a great south african scampi is so mixed with a sea weed bed, covering a fish tartar, that neither has any original taste left. The philosophy of the great chefs, "le produit et rien que le produit", is shaken aback. The colours in the plates are like a enormous firework, with every possible tone, but after three or four plates decorated each one almost the same, you get a bit tired. To me, it seems like if it were too much of...too much ! Simplicity is not the key word...! Of course, the art of the cook is fantastic ! And every dish is a work of art by itself ! But add all the courses, and it is a bit too much. We were many people together for this great meal, and the wines were all excellent, but were poured in too large quantities for people who had to drive, and they were all carried away almost full...adding to an astronomical bill for the lot ! And the prices of the wines are very expensive. So, an interesting experience, a very fine meal with great dishes, but more simplicity would allow us to enjoy it at a higher level.

We went because it was close by on our first evening, and there was a vegetarian dish on the board outside (tagliatelle with chanterelles). We both had excellent salads to start. My wife had ... Erm, fish and chips (perch meuniere which came with a mountain of chips which slightly threw her). I have to say that my heart sank a bit when I saw my tagliatelle. How often is the option for vegetarians a risotto or pasta dish which is both too fatty and rich and too unvaried and starchy, so it becomes a tedious burden. However it turned out to be excellent all the way through, with the mushrooms delightful. The local wine was also very good, and we will be looking out for it in future. If we'd been staying longer (or it was open on Sunday) we'd no doubt have gone back.

Sat down for lunch with the family outside in the sun tuesday january 23. We ordered a burger and a bolognese. Amazing food and drinks. The 2 waiters was very polite and serviceminded. Keep up the good work.
And they had chairs for small children.
Will return next time we’re in Verbier.

This is a lovely and very local hotel/restaurant. The restaurant is very popular with the locals and those guys that come across is by accident.
Discovered this place having come through the Grand Saint Bernard tunnel from Italy. We just had a light lunch. I had a Sandwich and my wife had a salad. The food was just what we wanted, the prices were reasonable and the service was good. What more do you want as a hungry traveler? If we pass this way again, we'll certainly stop.

Tucked away in the forrest of Clambin is one of Verbier's finest mountain restaurants, with the most fabulous views and magical atmosphere. It can be skied to in winter months, accessible by bike or car in the summer and only a 15 minute walk from Verbier. Fresh and local produce is used to make up a menu with all the Swiss classics plus some dishes from around the world - Something for everyone!
We visited at lunch time in a group of 8 and whilst we were a little chilly sitting in the Terrace, this did not detract from the very good food we had. Restaurant very busy and service strained as a result of a party of 30 all eating at once ,but to compensate for the delay we experienced we were given an excellent vin chaud ! The food was very good and our group particularly enjoyed amongst the starters snails and onion soup and for mains, bavette, cheese fondue and the chicken dish. The restaurant is in a great spot for both skiers and non-skiers and so ideal for our group.

In Orsière, Valais, Switzerland
We eat frequently at les Alpes (happily for us we live not too far away!!) and since Sam Destaing took over from M. Joris the restaurant - which was always good - has gone from excellent to superlative. Knowing that the Chasse menu had started we went there last Monday hoping for a lovely meal. Instead we had the best - absolutely the best - Selle de Chevreuil we have ever eaten anywhere. The meat was perfectly and delicately cooked and so tender it melted in the mouth. The plates of food put in front of us - we chose the Marcassin (wild boar) as a starter - were so beautifully presented it was almost a shame to eat them. And the red cabbage that was served with the venison was extraordinary. Now, how can one say that about cabbage?? But it was. Divine in fact.
Because we were driving we could not have a bottle of wine. We took a few décis of one of the open reds - and it turned out to be a perfect choice. A Humagne Rouge. There is a very good selection of open wines and this is appreciated.
We were there on the evening that the new Gault & Millau Guide for Switzerland came out and Sam was promoted to 17 points which puts him well among the top chefs in the country. This is well deserved. It was nice to be able to congratulate him! And, as icing on the cake, so to speak, the lovely and welcoming Maître d'Hôtel, Fabien, has returned to the restaurant after a leave of absence. It was super to see him back.
Since M. Joris retired the restaurant has been totally re-decorated and there were some more "upgrades" this summer. It is visually lovely without loosing any of its "bistrôt du village" feeling. And les Alpes is, right now, the best table in the region without a doubt.
One small correction to the review just before this... the village of Orsières is not "VD" or Vaud. It is "VS" meaning the Valais... There is probably an Orsières in the Canton de Vaud so this is important for those looking it up in the phone book!

We booked a week in advance to make sure of a table on Christmas Day. Nice atmosphere with friendly staff but overall, a bit disappointed with the food, particularly for the price. Definitely better restaurants in Verbier with L'ecurie being my favourite

A restaurant in the heart of nature Situated at 1895m and easily accessible by ski or on foot, the cafe-restaurant La Marlenaz welcomes you seven days a week throughout winter and summer. Our full menu is served non-stop every day throughout the season. We recommend making dinner Reservations! We do not take Reservations by email. We speak both French and English. Tradition and Innovation Our menu is composed of both regional and international specialties, with a changing list of signature and seasonal dishes. With meats, cheeses, produce and wines from nearby Valaisian farms, our cuisine reflects the quality of ingredients, passion for our work, and local authenticity.
This mountain restaurant was one of the highlights of our trip to Verbier! We ate there on two occasions: once for lunch after we hiked to the restaurant on a beautiful early spring afternoon and again for dinner after a 20 minute walk from our taxi drop off. Both experiences were slightly different; our lunch was eaten on the beautiful Terrace overlooking the mountainside looking down to Verbier and our evening dinner was inside the rustic mountain restaurant on a quiet weekday evening. The food at Le Marlenaz is delicios. I had the spaghetti bolognase for lunch and my husband had the tradiotional Rosti complete (with melted cheese, egg and bacon). For dinner I had the Rosti with grilled pork sausage and my husband had the pasta bolognese. Wine choices are good and both times our food was delicious! Desserts are wonderful as well.
Besides delicious food, the walk to the restaurant makes this a unique dining experience. After our evening dinner, we even walked all the way back to Verbier under the stars with the help of a headlamp! Talk about romantic and unique...it was a highlight of our weeklong ski trip to Verbier! HIGHLY recommend it!

Enjoyed everything about our lunch here. Food was great, service was attentive, friendly and quick. Drinks were good. All very efficient. Liked the dining space - can’t speak for the view as it was a white-out outside. Only negative for me was the directors’ chair seats... way too low in the seat and uncomfortable sitting in ski gear.
