This restaurant is housed by the Hotel Alysson. However, it is at least a notch better than the hotel. The garden next to it is soothing and the table arrangements elegant.
The food was well presented and with a good service. We shared the avocado salad and had the trout cannelloni, served as a long cannelloni full of tasty trout and the foie gras roti. The prices were very reasonable and the wine selection good. Overall an unexpected experience in the outskirts of Oloron, less than 10 minute walk from their famous Cathedral porch.

It is hard to imagine that so few persons visited this new restaurant in Oloron Sainte Marie on this Saturday evening in July . The service is friendly and precise, and the cuisine is excellent for a reasonable price. What can I say? We had salmon-trout in a very special balsamic sauce, nicely presented with tomato and sweet peppers & mushrooms. As a starter we had small asparagus nicely presented with puff pastry and a creamy sauce
This restaurant deserves a much larger clientèle. Even if Oloron seems to suffer from the economic crisis these times, its cook and friendly service is worth a detour for a nice dinner.

In the medieval quarter, Isabelle and Pascal welcome you to a pleasant place. You can taste delicious sugared and salted pancakes, omelettes, salads and ice creams.
We ate here three times in two weeks during a recent holiday - admittedly mainly because it was within walking distance of where we were staying! - but we had excellent galettes and crepes and the staff are delightful. Be sure to have an apple and caramel crepe, with salted caramel ice-cream! - accompanied by a bottle of the Jurancon doux (sweet white wine). Heaven!

Changement de direction de l'ancien restaurant "la cour des miracles"
We stop at this restaurant at every single one of our visit in the region. That day being my boyfriend's birthday, we knew we wouldn't be disappointed.
A marvelous and very affordable lunch menu in their beautiful Terrace. A very tasty summer roll to start, a fish terrine to follow and an indulgent and fantastic chocolate dessert to finish it off.
All of this, with a beautiful red wine. From the service to the food, I cannot fault anything!

The Loft Cafe is a modern bar and restaurant with a large garden and near the Gave d'Oloron, quiet Terrace. Near the tourist office and the theater. You can enjoy a classic french dinner (steak, prime rib) or more local with its famous burger Guit (shallots, local cheese, duck breast southwestern), or escalope de foie frais with apples, the waitrers are listening and effective. The bar restaurant is open every day (for more information please refer to the website)
We went there on a rainy day with my friend for a coffee. Service was friendly and quick. The place is quite trendy for Oloron and has a good vibe. Oh, and they have free WIFI!

Le Trinquet is the oldest restaurant in Oloron managed by the NOEL's family for 28 years. We serve special dishes made by local cookers using historical recipes. Le trinquet finds its name in the adjoining room of "La pelote basque" that you will be able to visit for free. The atmosphere is friendly into the French brasserie atmosphere with vintage seats. Over the summer, you will be pleased to seat in the terasse having good time.

Perhaps only because they are open on Sunday we were fortunate to wander into La maisonette for an afternoon meal. What luck on our part as we discovered the finest, most delightful meal we have had in France so far this May. This is an unassuming cafe, yet they are running on all cylinders here. First course was a salad from local sources coupled with two other samplings of a warm chevre with a pear slice and a cucumber puree topped with a red beet puree...all first rate. The main course was a chicken breast rolled with a succulent center filling consisting of cheese, herbs, and something similar to bread crumbs, served with a small selection of roasted root vegetables seasoned with herbs. Dessert was an equally delightful pear and berry compote with a crumb topping.
They should charge more for their meals we think! The chef was engaging and the server quite efficient and friendly, we felt very welcome and special....not something you experience everywhere!
Go out of your way to find La maisonette, you won't regret it!

Pizza with thin crust generously furnished Today's special cooked with fresh products. Plate vegetarian Grill with meat local
Having seen that this place was rated 4th out of 38 in Olorons St. Marie we decided to give it a try on our one night in the town. On a cold and showery April night we arrived not long after the opening time of 19:00. We sat down and were the only customers but we seem to be told that there would be a delay. It transpired, though the girl was so quietly spoken, that there was a big order being prepared for takeaway pizzas. If there was a delay on a cold, wet April night with 4 staff on the premises I am not sure how they cope in summer.
The food arrived after half an hour. The vegetarian pizza was very large with a very thin base, which was very nice. There could have been more topping. It was not really worth the 9.90 Euros compared to the superb pizzas one can get in Italy. It rated a 3 out of 5. The Piece de Boucher steak was a different story. It seemed to be as much as 350 grammes - they said it would be between 300 and 350 grammes – and it was cooked exactly as I wanted it – “bleu”. The steak rated 5 out of 5. There was no a single bit of fat or waste. However, to order a “bleu” or rare steak, one needs to have faith in the quality of the hygiene and food management of the restaurant. Sadly, I had too much faith and as a result my digestive system was upset, though not too seriously, for 3 days.
For just over 30 Euros for 2 including a half litre of wine this was good value for money.

We stopped here en-route to Navarrenx, as it was lunchtime.
Although the restaurant was very busy, we were found a table and offered an aperitif.
The menu is varied with a high content of local dishes, and all produced by the Chef-Patron to a very high standard.
The diners were from right across the board, from a large family gathering, through travellers, to locals.
The prices were also extremely good.

Cheerful quick and above all open at 2:15 pm when other places couldn't even manage a "Bonjour" (Bar des Amis ! ). Good spot for lunch by busy road but opposite park.
