We visited here looking for some better dinning. The experience was just all right. The staff was attentive and helpful, but to be honest, not a place that I would return to eat at again. The dinners were well presented but lacked something that made me say, I'll be back.

Food was faultless. Gorgeous..spacious table.
Only 1 toilet with a baby change.
The staff seemed to be unaware of which table they were looking after. Whilst my husband was at the toilet with 1 of our children the waitress asked if we wanted to order. We didn't until everyone was back. Same waitress came over 3 min later and asked the same. Then as soon as my husband came back she was over within 10 seconds to get an order.
I got up to go across to help one of the boys and the waitress tried to lift my dessert which was half eaten. We were asked several times by 3/4 different people if we were ok.
Sometimes tables can be under served, sometimes over served.

St. Kyran's Restaurant

We were staying in the hotel to have meal that night in this exceptional restaurant that we have eaten in before. Tonight the restaurant was doing a taster menu so I had the meat version and the other was vegetarian menu. The food was served up by a lovely group of girls and they couldn’t have been more attentive and with each course they explained what it was we were eating. It took over 2 & 1/2 hours to eat our meals and we had a small break between courses which was great so we weren’t rushed and able to just enjoy each course we had a lovely bottle of wine to go with our food.

Yesterday 7th October myself and a friend stopped on our return from Ballyconnell in Cavan to Dublin at the Lakeside Manor Hotel for something to eat. NEVER AGAIN . Firstly when are meals arrived there were lots of flies flying around and some landing on our plates of foodalso you could see more flies on the inside of the window looking out accross the water. Then i noticed there was two big chips out of the plate of chicken wings. The server asked were we enjoying our meal and we told her about flies and she told us they are always here, i mentioned to her about the plate and never even apologised or offered to replace the plate. Lastly and the most disturbing one of all was the state of the mens toilets i entered a cubicile and the sight that met me was horrific and disgusting soiled toilet paper on the floor and toilet bowl very dirty...i left without using anything. Only one word for the toilets DISGUSTING

This is the cafe next to Loughcrew Gardens. They have a few copies of the key for Loughcrew Cairns. They have a nice bakery and sandwiches - good for a quick bite or lunch following your visit to the cairns. We did not have time to visit the Gardens, but the cafe was an enjoyable pit stop.

We stopped off here on our way north for a light lunch. Never been here before, found it on Google as it was approximately half way along our route.
We ordered tea and then ordered a chef's Sandwich each which had chicken, brie and onion relish in it. Served on what seems to be their own brown sliced bread.
It came with a side salad and was very tasty indeed.
The girl who served us was very friendly and chatty and there seemed to be a nice atmosphere in the place which was quite busy.
We shared a piece of carrot cake between us and it was delicious. Our tea was served in good sized mugs and was nice. So many places cannot make a decent cup of tea.
The have an array of home made jams for sale, I bought a jar of their chutney and I can only tell you it is really tasty with cheese or whatever you fancy.

Caffrey's Bar

Reviewed By Mcloughlan84

Ate here yesterday, I had the Turkey and Ham and my partner had a toasted Sandwich with chips and side salad.
I was presented with a child's portion sized plate with what seemed like a pre-cooked, heated up meal. Carrot and parsnip were out of a packet that you would buy in Tesco and were extremely dry as was the cabbage.
About 4 slices of Turkey and one slice of ham with slop for stuffing. Not enough gravy when you are trying to chow down dry potatoe veg and meat.
My partners Sandwich wasn't great with coleslaw looking like it was out of date and chips that had a funny taste.
We would have complained only the waitress seemed like she couldn't give a rats behind wether you had a nice meal or not. Never even asked us was everything okay for us.
Just under €20 for a pure mess.
I know they have very little competition as they are in a village but cmon guys up the game a bit!!

The Courtney and Ashley Dining Rooms

Reviewed By GraEire - Dublin, Ireland

This review is based solely on our experience in the restaurant part of the hotel, as we did not stay in the hotel.
I had booked a table for myself and 9 friends at the restaurant on a Sunday evening, as I had read a review saying that it gets very busy. When we arrived we were asked to wait for 15 minutes before our table would be ready. That was no problem as it gave us time to go for a walk around the grounds which are beautiful. However when we were seated, the table was only set for 9 people and it took approx 20 mins before anyone came to take our order. The woman who finally did arrive was quite rude and seemed irritated when we asked for something different in our order - eg. no mushrooms/onions or mash instead of chips.
The starters arrived and the soup was lovely but we had to ask for the bread rolls to be brought with it and no butter was supplied. There was quite a long wait between the starter and the main, and when the mains did come out a lot of the order was wrong. The majority of the steaks were very undercooked, having asked for either medium rare or medium. There were no steak knives supplied. The orders that had asked for no mushrooms or no onions were completely ignored. We were given separate portions of chips each and when noticing that one portion was missing we asked a different waitress if she could check and bring it out. Her reply was "they're sharing portions...that's the point". This was not made clear to us when the chips were brought out, otherwise it would not have been an issue later on into the meal. One of the group had asked for mash instead of chips when ordering and was told that was fine, so he asked if she could check where his mash was. Several minutes later she came back and informed him that there wasn't any mash. At this stage the majority of the sharing chips were gone leaving him with no side order.
Both waitresses that dealt with our table were very unprofessional and unwilling to address any issues. It felt that they weren't interested and that we were an inconvenience to them. We asked to speak to the manager, who was very helpful and agreed that the steaks were undercooked. He was also shocked that we were told there was no mash. He offered to replace the steaks but unfortunately at that stage the group were very dissatisfied and wanted to leave.
It was quite a disappointing visit, as we had all been expecting a very nice meal out. One of the members of the group had been considering the venue for an upcoming wedding and was excited to visit, but unfortunately the service was so bad he has decided to completely remove it from his list. It's a real shame as the grounds and views over the lake are absolutely beautiful. The restaurant would really benefit from friendlier, more approachable staff who can make their guests feel welcome. I must again say that the manager was very accommodating which was much appreciated, and there was also a very friendly and attentive lounge boy named Oisin who made our visit more pleasant.

The Wedding breakfast was run like clockwork, very smooth and slick! I ate vegetarian food, which couldn't be faulted! Beautifully presented and delicious! The spinach ravioli (main course) was perfect, unfortunately, too big a portion for me!....this is a good complaint!
