When 13th-century Portuguese Queen Isabel passed through Obidos and marveled at its beauty, her husband King Denis I simply gave it to her. For centuries after, the kings of Portugal followed suit, presenting the picturesque little town to their queens as a wedding gift. With its white buildings shining as brightly now as then, the walled city of Obidos is very popular with tourists, its hillside location offering amazing views of the Estremadura area. The medieval castle is a main attraction.

We loved this hotel. So much history involved. Rooms are comfortable and well decorated giving the sensation that you are a noble.
5 star restaurant, amazing breakfast. Staff very friendly and helpful. As a guest you can access the top of the Castle and enjoy the beautiful view.
Highly recommended and if you have an extra cash choose a room in one of the towers.

Located outside the castle, near the fireman building, on the road that goes to Caldas da Rainha.
This place is very calm, elegant and peaceful. The prices are mid range, from 1.20 to 4€ (couverts, drinks and dessert) and 8 to 15€ (daily and other dishes) The waiter is helpful regarding what to eat and if it is a dose for one person or not. The apresentation of the room is somewhat antique but quite beautiful. Also it is the first time that I saw a waiter come to the table ask for the taxpayer number. 5 points just there. I really liked him, he is nice.

We inform that we will closed from 1 of January until 31 of January.
We had a pleasant time in this restaurant during our stay in Obidos. Very nicely decorated and the lights and brick create a sharp ambiance. Good selection of food and they have really good cod dishes and good octopus salad as a starter. Only open from 19h to 21H30 so make sure your in front at 19h!

A beautiful restaurant, that came highly recommended by our hotel. The service was friendly and attentive, the wine recommendation excellent. However, the black footed pork, suggested by our waiter, proved to be quite ordinary. It was tough and lacking in flavour, but presented with a good deal of fanfare and flourish. More attention to quality and less flash would be a good idea.

It was rated highly on TA and the menu appealed to us. Lumen did not disappoint. Decor is contemporary, a departure from the typical austere and dated Obidos eateries, but the food/drink prices were delightfully reasonable. More crucial, we sensed no compromise in the food which was, indeed, delicious. Wait staff was friendly and helpful with recommendations. A safe bet from hits and misses.

This is classed as a snack bar but is a lovely local restaurant. A lady called Aurora does all of the cooking herself and provides a wide range of dishes .toto
We came here for dinner last night and it was a lovely experience!
Place has the character, atmosphere and delicious food.
The restaurant was pretty much packed when we came in, so that speaks for itself.
Ordered sangria, prawns in curry and clamps. Finished up with flan for dessert.
If I stayed here longer, I would definitely dine here again!
Thank you for your hospitality!

This is a nice small restaurant, not a lot of atmosphere but the owner makes up for that.
My husband started with a good vegetable soup and then had the excellent steak. I had the salmon lasagna which was different but good. We finished by sharing a piece of the famous chocolate cake, it was very good! We had a very nice evening and would certainly recommend the restaurant to others.

This is a small friendly, family restaraunt, with excellent food, very welcoming staff, in an interesting old building, very good value for money
Our 5th annual visit here.
The restaurant is a beautiful quirky setting, the food was amazing I had the calf with red wine - cooked to prefection!
The puddings were delicious, our fist visit with children and the menu was a little limited for their Taste, the waitress tried all she could to help but there was a language barrier unfortunately.
This aside the staff are very friendly, and the food is the most Portuguese we have had in the area! Delicious.
Will be returning (without children)
Highly recommend

Food: Offers Portugese and regional specialities which were cooked with high-quality ingredients and turned out to be very tasty. Definitely different food than previous meals in Portugal.
Drinks: Great selection of Portugese wines (approx. > 100) in all kinds of price levels
Service: Rather cold & low service. A minimum level of friendliness would make it much better
Interior: Rather simple and rustic atmosphere with a nice Terrace.
Go there for good food and drinks, but don't expect much from service and interior!

In Óbidos the houses are of the Mole's (like the animal), small cozy burrows that the more inside we enter the warmer it stays. In Muralha´s the last division is a large Terrace where the sun hits and the breeze runs along the food always fresh, always moving. Inside the walls we drink wine, we taste the traditional and let's not forget the Ginja. This kitchen has also traveled the world and recognizes the importance of merging different flavors and concepts. In this little hole we eat has a family.
If you like Portuguese food that's served in a different way, then Muralhas is the place for you! Classic Portuguese Meat and Fish dishes are embellished with French-style sauces and presentation that makes for a unique eating experience in Portugal. I love coming back to Muralhas to sample the varied and appetizing dishes and have NEVER been disappointed. The restaurant is ideal for food buffs and families alike, as pizzas are on the menu alongside seafood and tender meat organically bred in the Azores Islands. This is a family restaurant run by Sr. José, who deserves congratulations for creating a space for eating out that makes for a really pleasant experience. I'll be back!!
