The Northern Cape (Afrikaans: Noord-Kaap; Tswana: Kapa Bokone) is the largest and most sparsely populated province of South Africa. It was created in 1994 when the Cape Province was split up. Its capital is Kimberley. It includes the Kalahari Gemsbok National Park, part of the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park, an international park shared with Botswana. It also includes the Augrabies Falls and the diamond mining regions in Kimberley and Alexander Bay. The Namaqualand region in the west is famous for its Namaqualand daisies. The southern towns of De Aar and Colesberg, in the Great Karoo, are major transport nodes between Johannesburg, Cape Town and Port Elizabeth. In the northeast, Kuruman is known as a mission station and also for its artesian spring, the Eye of Kuruman. The Orange River flows through the province, forming the borders with the Free State in the southeast and with Namibia to the northwest. The river is also used to irrigate the many vineyards in the arid region near Upington.

The building was built in the 1800s, originally a church. It's located next to a supermarket and opposite a church with a tall steeple. Waiter's called Hannes.
What a gem the Platterlander is for people stopping over in Colesberg, although I’m sure the locals love it too. Quaint in its decor, with a fair amount of Seating both upstairs and downstairs, this a lovely restaurant that is well worth a visit. The service was excellent in both its friendliness and the sufficient time taken to serve our order. For vegetarians the vegetable curry is recommended, while I found the lamb chops quite wonderful.

As one of the oldest houses, circa 1880 in Piet Retief Street, this Victorian dollhouse was renovated in 2007 by the Marais family, to become a prestige Restaurant in Sutherland, namely Cluster d' Hote Restaurant.

Originally this was one of seven flat roof sandstone houses, used by farmers as town houses to attend Sunday church services. We had dinner here on reccommendation which was a worth while experience as the Lamb Shanks were just great. I am a lover of roast potatoes too & the ones served were really good & complimented the lamb. Albeit an expensive meal. The service by Johan was attentive & the dining room was nice & cosy. It is worth a visit when in Sutherland.

The restaurant is located inside the museum town so you need to park at the Big Hole Museum Parking. It is a pub type setting, the waiters are friendly, the service is good. The pork belly (starter and main) is very, very good.

I have been travelling through Springbok regularly since 1974 and was pleasantly surprised to discover Tauren - which apparently opened in 1987 ! Lovely atmosphere and really good steaks. Service is good under the watchful eye of the manager. The lamb neck and lamb shank is also good.

We were only in Colesberg for a night and were recommended Bordeaux for dinner. A great choice! A restaurant full of character with local jams and preserves for sale and displayed on shelves by the bar. We enjoyed a Greek salad and a chicken burger from the extensive menu. Service was spot on and friendly. It was a really nice welcome to Colesberg and won't be quick forgotten.

If you want to experience Real Koffee in Kimberley there is only one establishment, which I find, delivers and that is ANGEL HEART. Forget about the mediocre single origins and blends found at day to day establishments at ANGEL HEART you will be served kickass espresso's , cortado's, machiato's and the like prepared by Wallace and his team of baristas with energy, attitude and of course great HEART. They have a concise menu which caters for all taste including a Banting breakfast, which is difficult to find in Kimberley. The concise menu also helps in getting the food to the table in an efficient waiting time. If you want a quiet mediocre coffee do not go to Angel Heart but if you are in the mood for kickass coffee in a vibrant, loud and energetic setting then visit Angel Heart. TIP - engage with Wallace on the subject of coffee and experience his passion and love for all drinks caffeinated.
