The deep blue waters of the Cote d’Azur are the dramatic backdrop for elegant Nice. Breathe in the fresh Mediterranean air as you stroll the waterfront promenade, or get an eagle eye of the whole city from atop Castle Hill. The pedestrians-only Place Rossetti is the heart of the city, with a grand fountain, vibrant buildings, and the beautiful Sainte-Réparate cathedral giving it a provincial French feel.

This place is a gem! Like La Merenda next door, one must have a reservation and it's a cash only place.
The place is small but the seats are comfortable. The server is friendly, informative, patient and attentive. The food is regional cuisine, and tasted divine. The beignet de courgettes was fantastic, delicious and the batter was light-just right. I had Peregrine sausage with lentils and Kirstie had fowl. Not sure what Tony had. I was too busy focusing on how tasty the food was. Delicious! And so was the dessert. Excellent dining experience. Highly recommended! We'll visit again next year.

I think people have really exaggerated the whole "this is the best food/duck in the world" theme a bit too much.
The owner is passionate about the duck and the couple cook with love.
However, I do not feel it justifies the 1 hour waiting time sat on a hard chair or the price of 31 euros. There is minimal meat on the duck, a lot of it is bones and fat.
It is tasty, not something necessarily to write home about, but nice. The owners are very friendly.
Only drink options are water and wine. Only food option is duck or something else I didnt catch but was frowned upon.
Nice food, long waiting time and price.

I loved this little restaurant - every woman has a heart shaped pizza. The owner / waiter is passionate about his little restaurant and prides himself on his home grown tomatoes which form the basis of his special pizza. As a vegetarian I loved it- hubby had a pizza without a tomato base which probably explains why he couldn’t understand why I was raving about it !

Situated just behind the old port of Nice, JAN is a small restaurant that welcomes locals as well as visitors from all over the world. JAN being from South Africa adds a touch of South African heritage both on the menu and the wine list. We welcome you to be our guests for an unforgettable experience. International staff, old and new world wines, South-African / French cuisine.
Just with the 2 of us and had a fabulous experience. Creative dishes and beautiful presentation accomponied with tasteful French and South African wines if you take the menu JAN (recommended). The personnel was attentive and correct. The ambiance is a pleasant mix between romantic French warmth and edgy South African roughness. Nice bonus that € 1 from every guest goes to an orphaned rhino project. All in all: if you want to experience a tasteful mix of France and South-Africa, visit JAN.

Polly and Cie is a concept store which mix up fresh and homemade food for lunch, then a tea room with - still fresh and homemade- pastries. At Polly and Cie you can also find clothes and accessories. Everything you need and love, in a cosy place. Come and taste ! :)
We were looking for the place to eat on our way for Cimiez, so we chose this restaurant. When arrived there we have been positively surprised by their specific concept (restaurant+boutique+tea room). Even we arrived before their official time for meals, they accepted to prepare...MoreThanks a lot for your comment ! At Polly and Cie we do everything possible to make our customers happy. We are glad you enjoyed the food and the time spent at the shop. You are welcome at anytime ;)

Having arrived late in the day at our bed and breakfast, we asked our hostess for suggestions on nearby restaurants. Her favorite and one that was on my list was Le Bistronome. Having made Reservations, we were one of the first to arrive at this local restaurant that seemed to be frequented by the residents. We had a hard time with the menu and the local interpretation of the selections but our waitress who spoke a little English helped us enough to order delicious meals of fish and scrimp, including two kinds of fish and mussels in a tomato creme sauce with potatoes carrots and zucchini. As the evening went on more and more people arrived, with Seating both inside and outside. Everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves. Having heard about the dessert, Rum Baba, we just had to try one before we left France. What a delight. We were going to order two but our friendly waitress took over and waived this idea off, saying she would bring one with two plates. Good decision. Always trust your waitress when you really can't read the menu properly or know what it is that you are ordering. The Rum Baba was large easily enough of two, and the rum! Wow must be half a bottle of rum in there. So decadent and delicious!
All the staff and the clientele seemed friendly, even as we were the only English speaking customers , we felt welcomed and enjoyed our meal and the company.
We can highly recommend the little gem and of course that Rum Baba.

Wine merchant-wine bar wine bar : thursday friday saturday 18h00-22h30
We were welcomed in and provided good information about wines available. We were advised it was not a restaurant but provided cold appetisers - platters including meats cheese etc. We opted for the terrine and the sardine toasts - they were fantastic along with very nice wine to suit our tastes. The service was very good both friendly and welcoming but also knowledgable about the wines available. We will be back!!

What a gem! Lovely ambience, friendly and knowledgeable staff, and food that is divine. The menu is not extensive (it also changes every two weeks or so) but with a choice of some 6 starters, mains and Deserts, there's something for everyone. We both had the crab ravioli, continued respectively with the duck and pork, and finished with a feuillete with lemon/raspberries and delice with lychees, lime and white chocolate. Each dish was an absolute delight and presented beautifully. Neighbouring tables who opted for noix de Saint-Jacques and the cod (dos de cabillaud) were equally content with their fare. Given the quality of the food and service the prices are very fair - an average of EUR12 for starters, EUR22 for mains and EUR9.50 for Deserts. Admittedly not the cheapest meal to be found but definitely, definitely worth it. Be sure too to book in advance - it's very popular and we saw many disappointed people being turned away because it was fully booked.
