We decided to keep this restaurant the last dinner before we left this nice places and we expected something really best if compare to other local restaurant. They have band and it is really too.
We had BBQ fished and that fish overcooked and we tried to eat a bit, but decided to stop since it was too bad. We told them and they wanted to changed new one, but decided not to change and paid all. When we came back, we had problem with stomach and it takes more then a week to be better. It spoiled our holidays since we had to go to toilet every 10 minutes, even we took medicines, the worst day, when we took 5hours to Yangon :)
Staff was not smiles and even we gave them tips.

We have eaten in 7-8 of the restaurants in Ngwe Saung and this is one of the better ones.
My whole fish was delicious and my partner still remembers her excellent dry curry octopus.
Always add in Burmese staff who are always smiling, helpful and a delight and you will enjoy your meal here.
Clean....good value and very good food will make you as happy as we were.

Very close to the beach, so you can enjoy the cool evening breeze on a hot evening.
The floors are packed sand, which I did not find off-putting. Menu choices are not inexpensive by Myanmar standards. The grilled fish and deep fried fish are excellent, as are the other seafood dishes.
It is a great place for young children. They can run around without bothering anyone.

Ume cafe is located on the small hill between Yamonnar Oo hotel and silver view Resort on Hotelzone street, Serving Thaifood, and home made dishes, sandwich, dessert, snacks, fresh fruit juice & shake, cozy & chill out Bar atmosphere.Amazing fire show is every night!!!
We stay at a nearby resort where the staff is far below average (to remain polite).
Here, we were greeted with huge smiles, and even welcomed BACK on our second visit, and asked if we wanted the same table. Success lies in the attention to details!!
The place itself if very nicely put together: lots of wood, sand ground, no noble materials but a lot of taste has gone into the decoration and the place oozes comfort, relaxation and good vibes.
The drinks and food are marginally more expensive than at our resort but let me tell you, the quality exceeds that of other places by miles!!!
The fire show (every day at 19:30 and 21:30) is probably the best in southeast Asia, no joke. And I've seen a lot of fire dancers!! Nothing to compare with the shows made for backpackers, by backpackers in neighbouring countries!
It might sound biased but I will go as far as saying that everything is perfect.

This place was our go-to for Ngwe Saung.
The food is AMAZING - watercress, Thai soups, curries, all were delicious.
Wait staff were attentive, VERY nice.
setting is a bit...rustic, but you kind of forget about it once the food takes over.
I'd highly recommend anyone staying at the beach check this place out.
Located soon after the Eskala resort on the mountain side, not the beach side.

On the plus side: the tables and chairs are situated in such a way, that one has a direct and open view to the street - if you sit first row. I love that. Chairs and tables are made of wood (not plastic) and good quality. You sit here better, litterally, then in many other places. The food - I almost always take crab , steamed or grilled (more tasty) as main dish, is of high quality. Last but not least: every year there are friendly cats and I love to have one on my leap.
But in my experience, there is a negative side too. Once one has choosen 'his' restaurant, one tends to go back there next evening. That is how things are in Ngwe Saung. And then, second or third evening, everything being the same, the bill does not stay the same: it goes up. And that does annoy me. As I am used to take pictures of my food, these last years I confronted them with the photographical 'evidence'. Which results in an adjustment of the bill. Another nuisance: their Fresh Orange Juice consists of fresh orange juice indeed, but mixed with water, sometimes lots of water.
That being said - every year I start my dining at Golden Myanmar.
By the way, one can buy his seafood in the shop or market and they will cook it for you, for a fixed price. This is how I did last winter.
I will fill in, I was here 'alone' but the nice thing is, one does not stay alone often if one does not want to!

The staff were very friendly and attentive from the start. The food came out quickly which is not always the case in Myanmar. The grilled prawns was the largest portion we have had in Myanmar for a very reasonable 6000 Kyat and draft beer at...MoreDear Valueable guest Thank you for your good review. Casablanca is a Seafood, European and Asian cuisines restaurant with reasonable prices. Lobsters and Crabs need to order one day or 6hrs inorder to get fresh from the market. We dined at this restaurant 4 nights in a row. All the nights we spent at Ngwe Saung Beach. David, the owner, is also the chef. He's travelled around the world and has incorporated touches of all different cuisines to his dishes. It's always convenient to listen to his recommendations. We did and didn't regret it. His waiter is very professional, polite and attentive. All the products are fresh and the vegetables are ecological, as they grow in his vegetable patch. During all these meals, amongst other, we tried: the green papaya salad, pennywort salad, a special avocado salad with prawns he prepared for us on New Year's Eve, garlic prawns, fish curry (Myanmar style), seafood nasi Goreng, watercress with mushrooms, squid, whole red snapper, etc. Everything we had was extremely delicious. The Tom Yum soup with coconut milk, superb! David always brings a free fruit desert when you've finished and comes during the meal to make sure you're enjoying it. I highly recommend dining at this restaurant if you are in Ngwe Saung, you will surely repeat like we did.

We are a small and romantic family run seafood restaurant at the northern end of Ngwe Saung Town. Candle light dinners at the beach are our special highlight. And we can vegetarian food :-)
Friendly staff, good food and lots of local dishes both suitable for vegetarians and after discussions with the manager, some additional options were made that weren't on the menu.
Eager to please and a cosy atmosphere with very reasonably priced food and drink. A good escape from the bubble of the local resorts. Well worth a visit if you're in the area.
