The food is delicious, a great variety and a beautiful huge European salad if the Thai/Laos salads are not to your liking. Some hot spicy dishes and some non spicy flavoursome plates, the local fish in a pepper sauce is worth trying and the battered prawns too. Ordering appetisers does not mean they are coming first but who cares it's all such tasteful eating. I ate here twice and I was not disappointed. Service is very quick and my beer glass was topped up regularly.
Average dish is just over 200baht, you can eat heaps cheaper in some small restaurants down the road for a couple of bucks and the food is almost as good however this place is definitely worthwhile.
Chang classic beer is also recommended they come in a 620ml size a very crispy clean beer.
You can sit virtually riverside or if it's windy the curtains come down so your not blown away. A few mozzies abound, part and parcel of Thailand so give yourself a little spray before coming if your going to sit for a while.
Parking is very easy, would suggest ladies that you use the hotel toilets next door though only a short walk.

This place was a really nice find for us in our recent trip to Nakhon Phanom.
Its near the centre of town and about two minutes walk from our hotel the 777hometel....turn left out of the hotel and left again, opposite 7/11 and its just on the corner on your left.
From the riverside (assuming the Mekhong is on your right) turn immediately left at the Clock Tower and just go straight on for a couple of minutes and its on your right hand side on the corner.
It does Thai and Vietnamese food,a little western food such as ham and cheese toastie or tuna Sandwich, cakes, breads, pies, ice cream, tea, coffees, smoothies and even beer....all at a reasonable cost.
The cafe is airconditioned and very comfortable to sit in......very popular with local Thais and worth a visit if you are looking for a good place to eat or drink in Nakhon Phanom.
Its open from 10am in the morning till 10pm at night.

This was the best western food I had during my trip to Thailand. This place overlooks the Mekong river and has character. It is a small place with seven tables. They only serve Fharang (western) food... steaks and such. They have a variety of spaghetti dishes too. I had the spaghetti with meat sauce and it may be the best restaurant spaghetti I've had anywhere. Who would have thought that would happen in Thailand.
The owner, Khun Kaew, has spent tine in the United States and is very attentive to all her customers. She is the chef and hostess. She as well as the staff are conversant in English.
I was there for two nights and ate dinner there both nights. I would eat there any time I ever go back to Nakhon Phanom.

Each morning this Vietnamese joint opposite Sri Thep Cineplex attracts throngs of locals and tourists who dream of its baguette Sandwich (khanom pang yad sai - ขนมปังยัดไส้) and Vietnamese fried egg (khai krata - ไข่กระทะ) deliciously served in a metal pan. The former is stuffed with Vietnamese sausage (moo yor - หมูยอ), Chinese sausage (kun chiang - กุนเชียง), pork floss (moo yong - หมูหย็อง) and addictive coconut cream while the latter is topped with minced pork, Vietnamese sausage, Chinese sausage and tomato, perfected by a drop of Sriracha (ศรีราชา) and soy sauce. Order both as everything comes in tapas portions. Wash down with a glass of coffee although it should be noted that Thais like their drinks sweet so please say waan noi (หวานน้อย) to its friendly staff if you want less sugar.
This institution opens daily from 6 am to 5 pm but it serves breakfast until about 10 am so get out of bed early, watch the sunrise over the mighty Mekong and then head straight to this perennial favourite. The wait shouldn't be longer than 10 minutes.
Expect to pay no more than 100 baht per person for such a mouthwatering experience.

Several years since my last review. Still excellent, helpful and informative about NKP. Just redecorated, and off street parking opposite the restaurant, and they now have several apartments next door for rent that all overlook the Mekong. Added a few dishes such as chill con carne, fish and chips for faring missing a good solid European meal. There burgers are the best in this part Thailand.

This outdoor eatery is fantastic for its seafood and is located next to the small pond where much of the fish are raised. Excellent food, good service and a very relaxed atmosphere. We have been going there for years when visiting nakhon Phanom from nearby Laos.

This is a nice cafe for non-alcohol persons. It opens from 10am till 10pm with free wifi (speed is very fast). Recommended to try hot milk and chocolate lava. You can also try bread with green-kaya cream. This is a good place with reasonable price.
