Had the 6pm booking but they didn't rush us.
One person ordered lots of share plates from the menu for the group. Staff gave some helpful suggestions.
Everything was delicious, nicely spaced out throughout the evening.
We all had a great night. Looking forward to visiting again.
(didn't take kids - ours don't like the spiciness of the menu, lots of babysitters at Buller)

We had been to Kaptans several times in the past and again the restaurant did not disappoint.
The service was very efficient, courteous and prompt, without being rushed or overbearing.
We had the Pate and bratwurst as starters and all had the schnitzel for mains. The schnitzel is great, maybe a tad over priced, but this is a snow town.
Diners need to be aware that you must order a minimum of two courses (entree and main or main and desert, which can add to the cost for the night out.
We noted that the size of the glass of wine servings were generous, which made them quite reasonably priced.

The atmosphere is great. The food was fantastic and large servings. What you don't finish they pack up for you to take home (the pizza was great the next day too!) Our waitress was so friendly and just fantastic service. Really worth going there for dinner. Kids friendly as well.

After a morning on the mountain I was after a simple lunch. Ordered a toasted ham/cheese Sandwich without tomato, and chips (roughly $20-$25). The food took around 30-40 minutes and when ready, the bread was barely toasted, more so heated, cheese not melted (partly cold still) and included tomato! The chips were not ready (somehow), so I advised staff I would eat the toasty and wait (I was starving at this stage). After another 15 minutes, chips still were not ready. I had to grab the attention of staff to seek a refund on the remaining order. A complete lack of service by not one, but a number of staff and somehow stuff-up the most simplest of meals.

OK the place was empty and lacking atmosphere as a result. yes we were nervous but it was late with few options so we ordered. And we were delighted...the food was simply fantastic....every course...could ask for more. Great views from the verandah to.
On our way out we grabbed coffees from the Garage downstairs.....also very good.

They couldn't fit us in without a reservation during Targa High Country but were happy to serve us pizza and drinks at the bar on the other side of the restaurant where we could play pool and in fact had a better night than I suspect we would have in the restaurant.
Good happy service and very flexible to think that way on such a busy "out of season" night for them.
The pizza's were all great, the one covered in chilli a highlight!
Thanks guys.

We walked across the piste from our accommodation on the other side of Bourke st run tired and not too hungry so settled for a couple of entrees - against my better judgment so far from the sea my wife had the oysters but they were deliciously fresh and plump. I had the wagyu carpaccio (was called something else - perhaps roulade?)) which was sensational then the pork belly - very crisp skin and perhaps fractionally overcooked in the middle but nevertheless very tasty. The $9 BYO corkage option was very welcome. Finished with a sticky date pudding and 2 coffees -Staff pleasantly attentive . All in all well worth the visit and the $145 after a very ordinary night before. Food in ski resorts is generally a lottery but we strongly recommend Signature. Not top end but not far off.Lovely log fire.

This restaurant couldn't get anything right. My entree was $19 for one bite of pork. My main was $39 for a dry pork cutlet that was inedible. My $18 Creme Brûlée was not set. I would not recommend this restaurant. Service was average, but the meal was not good enough for the money.

Catering for all palates (and appetites!), Dolomiti Italiano at the Alpine Retreat brings European mountain eating to the slopes of Mt Buller. Enjoy everything from authentic pasta and pizza to lesser-known flavours of the Italian Alps, perfectly paired with local and Italian wines.
The food was great (I highly recommend the pizzas!!!) but the pasta dishes are a little bit pricey considering their size and also considering Italian restaurants typically give big portions.
Guests staying at Alpine Retreat get free breakfast but, be warned, it's just cereal and toast - no bacon and eggs.

Vibrant and modern environment with the most efficient ordering system to ensure no time is wasted on the slopes. We serve a range of specialty Asian dishes, whether it be a warm bowl of noodle soup, some freshly steamed dumplings, or a tasty Malaysian curry, we have a dish sure to delight.
Went up to mount buller early August and after a few runs all you want is something hot and soupy. My husband ordered the laksa and the flavour was incredible. It is the best thing you can have after skiing/snowboarding. I had the fried chicken...MoreHi Vicky, Glad to hear that you and your husband enjoyed two of our most popular items! Thankyou your kind comments, and we hope to see you again in the next season!
