We are so glad we stumbled upon this place--just off the highway--on our way from Lisbon to the Algarve. It is super easy to get to and has great free parking, which is a bonus. The staff speaks limited English, but they were super friendly and helpful. The food was super wonderful and a great value! I had the eels, my husband had a grilled fish (what exactly it was was lost in translation ha ha), shared a jug of house wine, and had a little espresso and ice cream dessert. It was fresh, well-prepared, and hit the spot! We totally recommend this place! (Also, many items on the menu are naturally gluten free and suitable for celiacs)

This is an hidden restaurant in an alley right in the center of Montijo. Me and my husband were planning to go to this restaurant for a while and now that we went, I have nothing to regret. The environment is modern and inspired for...MoreDear customer, thank you for review. Hope to see you soon. :)

Kind of hidden both worth the search... Next to the fish market and with what looks like a fish shop where you choose the fish you want to eat. Large choice of local catch.
We had the typical little clams (amêijoas) and a perfectly grilled "robalo".
Nice atmosphere efficient service.
Really good !
We will be back !

A real "taberna" (the portuguese concept of tavern): very good food, unpretentious atmosphere, friendly service and reasonable prices.
As a starter you must order "torrresmos STEC" the best pork rind/crackling supplied by a awarded producer close to the the restaurant.
For the mains everything is good if it comes from the charcoal grill, either sardines (cacth in the ocean some hour before) or a juicy steak (cows fed in the meadows of Alentejo), or boneless pork chops (a must of flavour).
And, during summer, ask a table in the courtyard ...

Went first time to O Ninho, and what a great surprise. All is very clean, we where well received and a lot of attention from friendly staff. The food is absolutly amazing, we choose Caldeirada de Peixe for two and kids a special meat cut, with rice and chips. I can tell you, the chef came to our table and both kids where simply saying how great the food was. And about the Caldeirada ?? I must say.... From fisrt bite to the end, the very best. Great house wine, and the home made Deserts also completed this magnificent lunch.
I must say, i will be back....

Typical restaurant with traditional Portuguese gastronomy. Specialized in Grilled, with emphasis on grilled cod, mixed meats, octopus "à lagareiro" and meat skewers. Not to miss also the Portuguese stew, the chanfana and the fish stew. It has two rooms with rustic decor, with equestrian and hunting grounds. It offers a spectacular Terrace with about 50 seats.
The food was good but the portions( black pork) were rather small. Great wine. It was a shame that it took more then 20 minutes just to get our bill.

Amazing restaurant! Family owned. I went there multiple times and tried the Indian food. I went there with my mother and they were perfect!
We had papadam, garlic naan, chicken curry and for me Chana masala (all main dishes are served with rice). Later on, we were afraid to try the Italian part, but we tried the lasagna (Decadent!) and the pasta carbonara (my mother is in love with the lasagna:)). This place make wonderful food. I strongly recommend this place and go there each time I'm in Montijo!
