This local cafe accommodated our group of 26 for an early dinner following our stop at Monteriggioni Castle. Everyone enjoyed their food, and the hard-working staff took good care of us. The meat lasagne was exceptional!

Hotel Casalta is a small hotel carved out of a Longobarda fortress in the heart of Strove, a community of Monteriggioni which is a city famous not only for its perfectly preserved beauty but also for its importance as a point of passage for the pilgrims of Francigena Route. Perfectly renovated and situated in a optimal position to visit the primary attractions in Siena, Florence and Chianti, it will allow you to experience Tuscany as you’ve always dreamed. All the living areas are furnished with knowingly conserved period pieces. Guests will have the feeling of being taken back in time without, however, having to give up modern comforts such as wi fi and air conditioning. In the evening you can enjoy spectacular sunsets and breathtaking views of Val d’Elsa, with its velvety colors and numerous shades of green all the way up to the Sienese hillside horizon, allowing you to visually embrace this marvelous land which is full of history, scents and unique flavors – the same which you’ll find in the dishes that the Ristorante Casalta offers. The owner’s passion (Sommelier A.I.S.) for wine and good food will help you discover the most interesting wine pairings in order to exalt the flavors of every course. In the morning, the inebriating smells of freshly baked pastries will overwhelm and lead you to a rich buffet of homemade cakes, jams and local honey as well as pecorino cheese, salami, eggs and much more for breakfast – obviously accompanied by fresh juice and hot beverages prepared on request. The Casalts staff will be your point of reference for suggestions and ideas to help you discover the beauty of the splendid surroundings.
We were over the moon that we found this little restaurant after having had a few disappointing meals on our trip in other establishments.
The food was beautiful, one of the best meals we have had in a long time and excellent value, not at all expensive like some of the meals we have had in Tuscany.
The staff were so welcoming and accomodating.
We have decided to visit again before we go home to try other dishes.
Definitely worth a visit!

In the town of Monteriggioni you can found this restaurant little, rustic and very quaint, friendly staff, good food of the best Tuscan tradition. To be considered as a stage from which to taste the tipical traditional Tuscan dishes. Highly recommended.

We ate here a couple of times two years ago and rated it very highly. Not quite so good this time, to the extent that we thought, with there being better places close by, we probably wouldn't go here again. As soon as I write this I feel I'm not really doing them justice because the service was great and the people there so friendly. My wife and I both had the wild boar papardelle to start which was tasty but an enormous portion. It would have made sense to share the one between us. For the main courses we chose different steaks and the waiter upselled us the porcini mushroom option. This was a mistake. Also my wife ordered rare fillet but it was closer to blue and she thought it lacked flavour and warmth. Maybe a local thing I suppose. Sorry guys.

What an unlikely place - situated in an ugly light industry part of this beautiful area of Tuscany but totally worth the going there for the great food. We turned up on a chill March Sunday lunch time, and goodness, we very glad we had booked earlier - the place was packed to the rafters and you could see why - robust, flavourful food with an emphasis on grilled meats. Delicious good value local wine. Highly recommended.

My partner and I stayed at the hotel it was in and dined their our first night. The food was so different and incredible that we ended up coming back two more times despite all the amazing Tuscan restaurants about. We even returned to celebrate our engagement! The food was incredible, well priced and the waiting staff were the most professional and polite people we had seen in a restaurant. They spoke every language under the son and didn't look twice when we were so impressed by the food we ordered two main meals on our last night! The indoor restaurant is quiet, intimate and nicely decorated and the outside part was astounding. Soft music plays in the background as you watch the sunset with candlelight. We will be returning on our honeymoon, hungry for more.

Chef Enrico Orlandini (son of Marcello),Marcello is a poet as well as archivist of traditional Tuscan cuisine. He has written a Tuscan cookbook in the old tradition. The restaurant is small but the food fresh and authentic and iris inexpensive.
Don't get the wrong idea about this restaurant. The simple installations keeps a amazing jewel inside. It is far from Pogibonssi downtonw but worth it.
A typical countryside restaurant and an outstanding homemade like food. The Florentine Steak was amazing, simply the best one we ate in Italy. The owners are so friendly and nice, you fell all their hospitality. You definitle should try it. The Picci bolognese sauce was outstanding too.
Please, go there if you can.

David continues to run a most welcoming and friendly bar with a selection of spirits, wines, soft drinks, as well as cheeses and hams. He also serves breakfast but the fine dining restaurant has now closed. He continues to run a fabulous bed & breakfast with four or five rooms and is a fabuous host. His welcome is the warmest I received on a recent trip to the area and I would highly recommend it. As this is a restaurant section, I am reserving my comments on the b & b to the accommodation section of TripAdvisor

Stopped in for a relaxing lunch, the weather was great so we sat outside under the shaded area that was provided.
Wee all shared the Entree's of Antipasti, Mozzarella and local Tomatoes which were exceptionally fresh and tasty.
Next onto the pasta for mains and again very tasty and fresh. We had come from their cellar door after some tasting so lunch was paired with some of the wines from Rocca Delle Macie Winery which were magnificent.
Great views, excellent service and very fresh and tasty food, we worth an afternoon out.
