Great garden with lovely shades. The service was also very good, we were one of only two tables. We tried caprese salad and green salad, both very nice, also fried squid, and green peppers in tomato sauce. Everything was very good, the service was prompt and the two waiters had a good sense of humour. Someone said it was expensive but it was cheaper than most average Sofia restaurants. We were two adults and a child, we had 6 beers between us, and our bill was 79 leva!

My husband and I live in Bansko and we had been told by locals and tourists alike that Mitko's winery was one of the wineries to be visited in Melnik. What a disappointment. We only spent 10 minutes there since the cellar is very small. When we started to ask questions about how the wine was made in this area of Bulgaria, the different grapes, etc., the answer was "Why do you want to know?"!!!! And in a rude way on top of that. I could not believe my ears so to shorten our visit, we purchased a bottle of wine and left. A bottle which was totally undrinkable by the way and went straight into our kitchen sink when we came back to Bansko. This place is pointless.

We ate fairly early in the cool of the early evening under the shady sycamore trees. The menu is extensive and the food fresh and tasty. Loved the Shopki cheese, a baked local feta type cheese with tomato and an egg on top. And the Katino meze, a sizzling sache of pork, chicken and vegetables.

We stayed at the guest house adjacent to the restaurant, and decided to have dinner at this place.
The service was friendly, efficient and professional.
We ordered the traditional Shopska salad and Ovcharska salad for starters, and fried potatoes with grated feta cheese and kebapche and kufte for main course. For Deserts we chose Home made ice-cream and Drained yogurt with walnuts and honey.
Everything we ordered was fresh, well presented and most importantly absolutely delicious.
We were there in August so we sat outside on the fresh air and with the beautiful view of the typical Melnik houses and rock formations.
The prices were fair and we recommend this restaurant to everyone visiting Melnik.

Raiski Kat is a charming, rustic "mehana" in the village of Karlanovo (near Melnik), nestling beneath the towering sandstone obelisks of the region. We serve traditional Bulgarian dishes made with locally sourced products. Portions are generous and our speciality is locally caught game (rabbit, wild pig and venison) together with wine from our own vineyard. Our hospitality is legendary. Welcome!
This is one of those places, where the menu is not rich, but what you can eat is extremely delicious. All is locally made, even the wine. There under the trees in a calm atmosphere we spent a perfect afternoon and left full and happy...and even bought some more wine for home.

Really nice and cosy place. The chef is very polite and helpful. He recommended us what to cook for us and it was really amazing at reasonable price. They make you feel special. His wife cooks very nice desserts. A lot of the vegetables were home grown in there own garden, while the other products were very carefully selected and of top quality. The only negative note was that half of the menu choices were not available, but the chef offers really nice stuff. That's why I don't rate it with 5 stars.

This was already our second time in Melnik (part of a Bulgarian roundtrip) and we wouldn't miss this particular place. Although the English ofthe staff could be slightly improved, we had a great meal once again: we usually go for game (deer or boar) because it is obviousl hgh-quality meat. I also tried the buffalo yoghurt with pickled walnut for dessert, All courses were divine!

The homemade wine is REALLY GOOD! The food is totally affordable and I honestly had the best meal of my life here.
