Matsusaka is famous for it's beef, so on a overnight stop here on our Mt Fuji - Kyoto bike trip we couldn't miss this.
On advice the tourist information we went to Wadakin. This is fancy place, so welcome was very friendly but formal. The restaurant consists of several floors, with each floor a different theme. We were escorted to our private room where staff prepared a great meal.
It's pricey (100 EUR per person) but quite a special experience!

Isshobin serves famous Matsusaka beef in the way of Japanese-styled barbecue (Yakiniku). The beef, other meat, and vegetables are served raw and let the customer to grill them as their please in a smoke-free grill on the table.
The menu of beef is classified by body parts. Matsusaka beef is not needed to be grilled to much and it's extremely tender, nearly melting in the mouth. Sauce and sea salt are provided to be added to beef at will, but personally I think only minimum season is needed to taste the wonderful flavor of beef itself.
Matsusaka beef is so famous but also expensive, the price of Matsusaka beef at Isshobin is more affordable than other famous restaurant in Matsusaka.

I was your traveling on business and we did the Matsusaka beef. Service was excellent and the food was just as incredible. Nice family run business I met the mother and the two sons that operate the entire thing. We did the special tasting with the Matsusaka special reserve and they have a great traditional sukiyaki. When I return to Matsusaka this is the place I will definitely go!

There are two sections/entrances - one side serves yakiniku and sukiyaki and u choose the cut of beef and the other side serves western style. We chose the western section and We ordered Matsusaka beef sirloin steak set and the sukiyaki set. Prices are about the same as outside Japan. So don’t expect cheap eats.
The beef was beautifully executed (we ordered medium well) and the garlic herb butter gave a sinful touch to the beef n veg. On the other hand, the sukiyaki comes with two choices of cuts — we chose the lower priced cut which is leaner as our kid wasn’t keen on eating strands of fat. That turned out to be tough.

どちらかというと地元の人が多い店です。「のり載せ中華そば」は海苔がたっぷりのっていて、風味抜群でした。麺は高品質に感じました。

Matsusaka Beef
Has to find a Matsusaka Beef place that was opened early for lunch and ended up here as a result. Got in at 10am and had no difficulty placing our order despite no one there who could speak English. We were promptly given an English menu and ordered the Matsusaka (i) prime beef shabu shabu and (ii) prime beef steak-JPY13.5k for 230g. In the menu, its stated the latter is a rare cut from only 10kg out of a 600kg Matsusaka Beef Cattle. It was all a treat, tender, juicy, delicious. Worth every penny and every bite.

We selected this place for a Matsusaka beef lunch. We order a Bento Box and Steak lunch set each, both having medium rare grilled Matsusaka beef. Oooo...it just melts in my mouth! Great and super delicious!
If not for the hefty 9000 yen price tag for our two orders, without drinks, I won't mind having it daily!
Most of all is the friendly and gracious Mr 29Noel himself!
Beef Club Noel is only about 5 mins walk from Matsusaka Station...a must eat when in Matsusaka-Ise area!!!

松阪牛が食べれるハイエンド系のところ・・ということで、候補として和田○や牛○あたりも検討していたのですが、地元の人やタクシーの運転手さんのお話しなどを聞いて、結局こちらでランチすることにした。部屋は個室。
席にすわるやいなや、ランチメニューをすぐに注文させようとする中居さん・・・。こっちはタクシーで乗り付けたこともあり、ゆっくりまずはビールで乾杯したいモードでドリンクメニューをリクエストしたが、え・・飲むの?みたいな顔を仲居さんにされ・・・ここでまずマイナス1点。ランチコース、9000円近くのメニューを注文。そしてビールが全然でてこない!その前に肉が到着し、焼き始める!(待ってください!ビールはまだですか!と叫ぶ)マイナス5点。肉自体はさすが、松阪牛トップクラス。申し分ないレベル。しかし・・・仲居さんの焼き方をみて絶句!マイナス5点。とにかく、ガンガン焼こうとする。さらに最悪なのはせっかくの大きな肉が人数分x2~3枚ずつあるにもかかわらず、そのおおきな1枚を、人数分に切り裂いてサーブするのに絶句!思わず、切らないでサーブしてください!と叫ぶ!(マイナス5点)そして割り下の味・・・とにかく、しょっぱすぎ・・塩からすぎ!(我々一行は東京育ちであるにもかかわらず)(マイナス5点)そして、肉がまだ焼き切らず・食べきらずの状態で、野菜の盛り合わせまでガンガン入れ始める!(ちょっと待ってください!と叫ぶ)マイナス5点。野菜もまずい・・。
極めつけは、肉1枚食べたあたりで、赤ワインを注文しようと、仲居さんを呼ぶが、え・・まだこれから飲むの?という顔をされ・・・ワインも、たいしてろくなワインがなく、この肉にしておさむ~~いワインリスト・・・日本酒も大しておいしそうなものがない・・・。(マイナス5点)
ランチは1時間で食え!みたいなモードの中、こちらも結局、あわただしく2時間強程度で出る羽目に・・。
とにかく、せっかくの肉が台無し。このお肉をそのまま京都にもっていって、三嶋亭かモリタ屋さんあたりで食べたい!と真剣に思った。。。こんな出し方をされた松阪牛があまりにもかわいそう・・・せっかくのお肉がもったいない・・という感想だけが残った結果に・・。10点満点のつもりの採点がマイナス大きすぎて、計算できません・・。

松阪駅の近鉄口と言うか東口のお肉屋さんのうちの一軒です。韓国料理屋さんでもあり、地元で有名な一軒です。当然、混んでいることも多いです。
清潔で接客も良い店です。
肉ももちろんおいしくて、タン、カルビ、ロース等、どれをとっても美味であり、しかも一人前のボリュームが多いのも嬉しいです。
珍しい部位と言うか名称の肉も味わえます。おそらく肩の部分のウデ、それに肩甲骨の下の部分であるミスジを食べましたが、どれも肉がしっかり厚くて食べごたえがありました。
こちらから言うまでもなく、焼き用の網をかえてくれたのは嬉しい心配りでした。
観光客にもおすすめできます。
