Cafe Wilhelmiina. Nice cafe Wilhelmiina is situated in the center of Mänttä ,Cafe offers visitors coffee, pastries, salads, rolls, ice-cream and refreshments.
Cafe Wilhelmiina is a small cafeteria with a nice selection of "normal" pastries/buns/donuts/cakes etc., good variety of drinks and 3 different kinds of sweet gluten free options (a muffin, a cookie and a fancy cake). The service was exceptionally friendly. The only things I'd mention are the selection of teas (only tea bags and only two kinds, at least what I saw) and that the cafeteria's interior is not very appealing, although it was clean and tidy, the decor wasn't very inviting.

We had a business meeting at Rapukartano, there is plenty of room for meetings or other occacions (like weddings) in a cosy building. The service was excellent, very nice and friendly hosts and waitresses, and tasty gourmet-like wildlife food (we had bear and moose) with good wine. The place is by the lake, and we spent a couple of hours ice-fishing. They breed crayfish and there are plenty of nature / crayfish-oriented activities (also sauna, ice-swimming, ice-fishing, nordic walking...) available beside the normal restaurant / hotel services. Can gladly recommend anyone who would like enjoy the Finnish nature and good local Finnish food or have a memorable business meeting or a family fest. About 1 hour drive from Tampere or Jyväskylä (not easily achieved by any other means but your own vehicle). They have a good website in Finnish and English. Prebooking is necessary, since the restaurant is not open at all times but just on order.

We had lunch and were pleasantly surprised. The menu consist of recipes of international kitchen, very tasty. Clearly worth visiting while on your tour to the famous art museum in town. This place is well hidden. Not because of its size which is quite substantial, but because the signs are so obscured that you'll surely drive by without realizing this is also a restaurant. You should stop there, and perhaps might consider their accommodation, too.

This cafe serves a very nice buffet lunch and dinner (till 7 pm). It is located right next to the lake and makes for some beautiful scenery. The buffet is nice and varied and delicious. It has both indoors and outdoors Seating and for those with enough time, there is a huge Chessboard outside where you require to move the pieces with both hands. Children friendly.

European style wine tavern on top of the Art Town Mänttä! In 1928 built former ski cottage Vuorenmaja is located in the middle of the beautiful Mäntänvuori conservation area and was re-opened as a wine tavern in the spring 2015. The menu includes wines from small European wine producers, beers and ciders from small Finnish Breweries, delicacies of Swiss and German cuisine and naturally also coffee, tea and homemade pastries. The tasty menu together with the unique atmosphere and friendly service will make your visit memorable - welcome! About special opening hours and events we will inform you on our homepage and in Facebook.
Wine selection is good and prices reasonable. You can also get something smaller to eat ( e.g. flammkuchen, bretzels), but if you book a table before you can also order raclette or cheesefondue. Booking a table is recommended anyway, at least if you have a bigger group. The place is quite small (except for summer when they have a Terrace in use :) ). Staff is friendly and helpfull and the place itself is lovely. Definitely my favorite place to have a nice evening with friends! :)

After Reading all the positive reviews in TA and newspapers, we planned a small extra leg to our summer vacation route so that it included also Mantta-Vilppula and a visit to Gosta. Unfortunately, our high expectations were mainly not met.
The main issue was the service. We arrived at 3.30 pm in the afternoon but had nevertheless made a reservation as we came from rather long distance. The restaurant was half full when we arrived – just on time – and there were 5 or 6 staff members, many of them mainly standing behind the bar not looking too busy. Still, we had to wait for over 5 minutes next to the “wait to be seated” sign before one of the staff finally came to us. She then confirmed our reservation and told us that we should wait for a moment while our table facing the lake was being cleaned and set. So we were sitting on a sofa just to notice that another waitress gave our table to another group. After reconfirming our reservation with yet another staff member we finally got a table at the inner part of the dining room, not as nice as the original one but at that point that was ok as we were hungry after a long drive. During the meal the service was somewhat better but not especially tentative.
Had mushroom soup as a starter and it was actually really good, so was the accompanying bread. The main course hamburger was fairly nice as well, the burger itself was of good quality meat and very well prepared. However, other ingredients (bacon, cheese, tomato, pickled cucumber etc. as well as the fries) were quite regular, something that you would more or less expect to get at gas station restaurants. I also added “bbq” (kind of pulled pork) to my burger which at first seemed like a good idea. Eventually though, I think it made the burger a bit too greasy and heavy.
Overall, the food was quite good but due to the sluggish service this was a 3 star experience. This was a shame really as the dining room itself is very nicely furnished and the location next to a lake is quite beautiful. Based on this single visit, I would not recommend driving a long way just to visit Gosta but if you happen to be in the area anyway, why not give it a try.
