The Sforza is in a very good location in the town centre and it serves very good value pizzas, with a selection of other dishes, such as lasagne and steak tartare. The service was good and I would definitely recommend a visit, although it can be very busy in the summer so you may want to book a table, particularly if you want to sit outside.

Since nearly one century, the restaurant La Gerbe d'Or is a place of familiar appointment for lots of Lochois. The "Tuffeau" breathes the perfumes of the seasons, the large fireplace-dreams of the coloured scents of the aromas, with sweet and savoury spices, and the porch is curved to pay homage to this place where cooking becomes gastronomy.
Indifferent service, badly cooked food. I had to send my plate back as the meat had been cooked beyond recognition. At least i got an apology but not an improvement. I have to say that the wine and the San Pellegrino were the best thing...MoreHello MarcosH, Thank you for your review. Even if we're really sorry you didn't enjoy your meal, I think that you use inappropriate comments when you talk about "poor French provincial cooking". Thank you for being respectful.

We ate here most nights during our week in Loches. The food is fresh and there is a varied menu, portions are generous but not over-facing and the restaurant was busy every night with different nationalities, including french locals, so the atmosphere was good. There was a choice of eating inside or out.
We had a variation of food off the menu, my favourite was the duck in pepper sauce and my husband really liked the Turkey in cream sauce. We had waffles with Chantilly cream every night for dessert - delicious. The wines on offer were good and cost about 9 euros a bottle. The meals each night for two of us with main courses, desserts and wine came to about 50 euros which we considered very reasonable given the quality of the food.
From about the third visit we were greeted with kisses and hugs from the owners and were made to feel like one of the locals. They seemed genuinely please to see us return to eat with them.
There are more upmarket restaurants in Loches, with more expensive and classical menus, but when you are away from home and eating out every night it's nice to visit an unpretentious, down to earth restaurant that just serves very good food with warmth and a ready smile - that's what this restaurant offers.

Excellent service; excellent food at reasonable prices; great ambience (we were a table of five seated in the back courtyard).
Starter of warm goat cheese and tomato on a thin tart. Then cote du boeuf, cheese plate followed by coconut on a chocolate cake. I couldn't fault a dish.

A small friendly restaurant where we receive you " as at home " (in English, in German and in Spanish also!) to make you enjoy a home cooking and make you taste specialities of the region.
I've been there several times and definitely will come back in a future. Small restaurant with tasty food and hospitable staff. Great atmosphere!

After calling several restaurants on a Sunday evening for take-away, this was the only place that was open and willing to take my order because others simply refused. The lady at the counter was extremely welcoming and happy to speak English and translate the menu. Very typical take away Chinese food but it was ready in under 10 minutes.

The two ladies in the shop were so helpful with my wife who is unsure of speaking French. There is so much choice for bread, cakes and pastries. It is about 600 yes from the Citadelle camp site, a nice stroll for breakfast. This is our 3rd year in Loche and this shop is a must.

While strolling through the streets of Loches, I noticed this small boulangerie which recently was awarded 1st place for the best galette in d'Indre-et-Loire 2013. During our stay in Loches, we made a daily trip to this location. My wife and I tried several pastries which were exquisite. The croissants melted in your mouth. The freshly baked baguettes were delicious. The galette was incredible. The staff was very helpful in describing their various pastries. And as bonus, the ower also speaks English. She was very friendly and took her time helping us with our selection.

This is not your typical average French restaurant where you can find all classical dishes. La Galerie B surprises you with original combinations and flavours. The menu for 33 euro offers you a good experience and you certainly don't leave this restaurant with an empty stomach! The wine is correctly priced. I really liked my first course dish, which was rillon with an Asian touch. Very refined and fresh. The dessert was also a discovery: the entremets Atoti is a real treat. Certainly an place to remember and to return to.
