Located on the Bay of Biscay, La Rochelle’s history mostly involved the sea; today it has a large pleasure-boat marina. Thus its heart is the picturesque "Vieux Port" ("Old Harbor"). The city retains a rich architectural heritage, and has an aquarium, attractive gardens and a natural-history museum. Book early for summer; mid-July in particular features Francofolies, a huge French music festival.

Lovely experience from start to finish. Food was of course superb and service attentive and pleasant. Lovely surroundings and view. All in all a delightful way to spend an evening. The set menu also provides good value for money. €18 for a gin and tonic...MoreDear sir, Thank you for your trust and your reservation. We are really happy to read your comment and want to thank you for your recommandation. We hope to welcome you back soon. Best regards, Nicolas Brossard

This is a lovely place, atmospheric and obviously very popular. As others have said, you are served pate first and then you go straight on to order a single dish. I had scallops, a pot of deliciously creamy carrot puree, ratatouille, lettuce, cheesey risotto and it was all beautiful, perfectly cooked and sooooo tasty. My husband was just as pleased with his octopus with butter bean puree, a lovely sauce and sautéed potatoes. We were really too full for any dessert but when we ordered coffee, they made the suggestion that we could have a half portion of mixed desserts to share. What a good concept and we were so glad to be able to confirm that the pudds were just as gorgeous as the savoury dishes.
Do book if you want to come here.
Un grand merci au chef!!

We loved everything about this restaurant - the food was excellent, the service attentive and a lovely location. The portion sizes were just right. So often in our travels we have been given portions that are enormous and we came away absolutely stuffed! The waiter wanted to make sure we were happy with everything and even changed the bottle of wine we ordered because it was not to our taste rather than there was something wrong with it. The restaurant was closed Sunday and Monday otherwise we would have booked to go again

La Saveur Vivre offers a limited menu that allows the chef to get everything just right and in our case that is exactly what we experienced. Knowledgeable and helpful service added to the enjoyment of the evening.
Prices for both food and wine were modest relative to the quality. The modern, spare design matched perfectly with the approach of the restaurant.
A totally enjoyable evening.

We stopped here to have a quick drink in the heat. Great coffee and refreshing mint tea. Our son enjoyed a lovely waffle with Nutella too. Service was prompt and the place had a good atmosphere. Reasonably priced for what we ordered. I will go back on my next trip to La Rochelle.

This is a lovely restaurant and unlike the usual tourist traps that you would typically find around popular Marinas. The food was tasty, well presented and fairly priced. The service attentive and polite. The seats in the covered terraced area were quite draughty, despite the generous coverage of infrared heaters so a table in the main area during the winter months is advisable. Well worth a visit.

Coffee shop and take away, sandwiches, salads, paninis, smoothies, milk shakes, coffes, waffles
My friend and myself stopped off here as the recommendations on trip advisor seemed to be good. The owner is extremely nice and the sandwiches...where do I start? I had the 44 and my friend, the 22. Bread is delicious and as for the price, very reasonable!! I would recommend this place to anyone for a quick and satisfying bite.

We enjoyed this place. We arrived in La Rochelle near dinner time. We were tired and wanted a casual place where we could eat good food served quickly. Le Comptoir de Walter fit the bill perfectly. The vegetables were particularly delicious.

La Rochelle is a fascinating place to wonder round, lots of interesting architecture. But feeling footsore and only wanting a light lunch we came upon Cafe Coulisses.Just what we were looking for. I had a croque monsieur with a very nice glass of rose and my husband an omelette. We both enjoyed our meals and the service was efficient and friendly.

This small restaurant is operated by two very welcoming men, who create gastronomic delights that really make the palate appreciate their efforts. The restaurant is tucked out the way and off the main routes in La Rochelle but should not be missed. It is well worth the effort to visit and is incredibly good value for your euro. Enjoy the simple luxury of their Deserts too!
