La Libertad (Spanish pronunciation: [la liβeɾˈtað]) is a region in northwestern Peru. Formerly it was known as the Department of La Libertad (Departamento de La Libertad). It is bordered by the Lambayeque, Cajamarca and Amazonas regions on the north, the San Martín Region on the east, the Ancash and Huánuco regions on the south and the Pacific Ocean on the west. Its capital is Trujillo, which is the nation's third biggest city. The region's main port is Salaverry, one of Peru's largest ports. The name of the region is Spanish for "freedom" or "liberty"; it was named in honor of the Intendencia of Trujillo's proclaiming independence from Spain in 1820 and fighting for that.

The 4 of us were seated in a large, empty room with a very loud and annoying TV. After multiple requests they turned it down but 20 minutes later turned it back up. The service was a disaster. The food was mediocre. Maybe they were having an off night but it was probably our worst meal in our 2 weeks in Peru.

The lechon Sandwich is marginally better than that I purchased at a stand in Mercado Central mainly because they ladle liquid on it to keep it moist. Personally I would prefer a fattier piece of the pork.

went there twice.. had the menu of the day
1. very bland lentil curry with super buttery rice
2. extremly salty quiche with salty and buttery rice.
Not a very good place.. vegeterian restaurants are always my favourite with their creativity and healthiness..
This is not very good at all. there are better options in the town..

Great place for a special meal. Looks out to sea and pleasantly cool with a sea breeze. Impecibale presentation and complimentary canapés and souvenir key ring. Wonderful ceviche.

Casona Deza is the most beautiful colonial house of the Americas. It is also known as Casona de los Leones. The ambient is spectacular and the food is homemade. We cultivate most of the ingredients and promote healthy eating. We take pride on the selection of the ingredients and the quality of our coffee. It is the best in town! Some customers said that it is the best in Peru - we think that we still have a way to go. We are a family that enjoys hospitality because we are travelers too. And we know that while traveling away from home nothing taste better than a homemade meal prepared by a caring host. We are not sharp professionals in the restaurant business, but we love to take good care of our guests.
We went for dinner and were extremely disappointed in both the food and the service. Tasteless pasta dishes served cold and pasta not cooked properly ... Certainly not an Italian in the kitchen! I know this restaurant has good comments fir

Great food in a beautiful colonial style building. It was a place full of locals so it wasn't typical touristy food. I'd definitely return and have recommended it to friends of mine visiting Trujillo.
Ten of us had lunch at Squalo's and were not disappointed. Although we were a large group service was excellent. There were a variety of local Peruvian dishes on the menu so it was hard to choose. I had the grilled salmon with vegetable rice and mixed veggies. The salmon was well cooked, not over done at all. The rice was tasty and the veggies were cooked al dente. We arrived early to a pretty empty restaurant but by the time we left, there were people waiting. Clearly it is a popular place to eat.

We ate on a small balcony overlooking the street. Food was really good as was the wine list. Staff very friendly. We went there twice and it was excellent both times.

Coco Torete offers an excellent selection of grilled meats that our table enjoyed. The portions were huge especially the ribs. They were very specific as to how the beef would be done. The sides of roasted vegetables that included peppers and potatoes were tasty. Unfortunately, they used canned mushrooms for the barbecued and ceviche mushrooms and resulted in a poor selection. The service was friendly and efficient.
