Beautiful, stylish restaurant built on the old Kastelli wall in the wonderful, picturesque Venetian harbour of Chania. Established in 1993, Kariatis enjoys an excellent reputation for top quality food and service with an impressive menu created and served with proficiency and flair. Imaginative and refreshingly different dishes inspired by flavoursome, colourful, aromatic ingredients from both Crete and Italy offering an appetizing assortment of Italian and Mediterranean dishes and delicious gourmet desserts. Also serves fresh filleted fish dishes including sea bass, salmon and tuna and lots of luscious seafood pasta and risotto dishes. During the winter months we will be seducing sushi lovers with our sensational sushi. Kariatis also offers an extensive selection of award-winning Greek and International wines from around the world.
Food quality not good, some things not available, toilets were disgusting and it took over 45mins to get the food. We say other people at our hotel that we have seen before and they warned us it had gone down. We decided to make our own mind up, should't have bothered. Wont be going back unless we hear from a reliable source that things have got better.

This place is based on a simple formula: fresh fish simply cooked in a wonderful location next to the sea.
All the fresh fish is cooked in the same way: grilled, filleted and served with roast peppers and tomatoes, all beautifully fresh. Fish types are sorted into first, second and third class according to price. Ask to see the fish before choosing; they are stored in boxes of ice.
There are also some small dishes: our prawns with tomato and feta sauce were very tasty - however there were only two big prawns on top and lots of small ones underneath. All the fish and shellfish type are marked as being fresh or frozen.
As others have said, it's a wonderful experience to sit right next to the water looking out to the city lights reflected in the water and the sunset.
The restaurant opens at 7 pm. Prices are moderate for the quality offered. Dinner for two with two starters and a shared fish with a bottle of mid-priced Boutari wine was 62 Euro.
Service is efficient and helpful, without a particularly personal touch.

This place has very good Cretan food. The lamb smothered in staka is rich and delicious. Decent house wine. Good salads. The place was very bustling so we expected to get rushed through our meal but this was not the case. We were allowed to take our time and enjoy our meal. Service was attentive despite how busy it was and there was always a server ready to fulfill any request. I think the only reason I didnt give five stars is the fact that it was so busy at the time we visited, which affects the overall ambience but again, great food and good service.

Having as a model the hight product quality and the tasting result we give you a variety of international delicious proposals
A group of 10 Greeks we enjoyed all sorts of meat dishes some salads and their special twist potatoes. We marvelled with music and songs that started at 10 in the evening. The venue is ideal for dinner as it gets rather hot around noon. The lady singer is quite capable with a wide range of Greek and English songs.

Being vegetarian and coeliac definitely presents it's challenges when travelling. We thought To Stachi would be a great find.We found the restaurant through tripadvisor and was looking forward to it ALL day!! However, I actually think this was the WORST restaurant I have ever been to... The food was just terrible. My partner was offered bread and got a basket of bread (extra charge on bill) which was rock hard/stale.. unedible. He decided to get the "special" of the day.. it was a plate of microwaved to within an inch of its life slop. Like literally the vegetables were slop.(Like seriously.....?! This is supposed to be a vegetarian restaurant?!?!?!?!) I ordered a chickpea soup....... and I received a bowl of water with salt in it and some chickpeas floating around... Just pure despicable food. I would NOT recommend this place at all. We literally pushed the food around the plate, paid and left to go eat in another restaurant straight after as we were starving (and now grumpy..!)

This is an excellent restaurant with an emphasis on fish. Have eaten there numerous times and never been disappointed, also have always received very good service. The fresh Calamari both Fried and Grilled has always been extremely good. It is a quirky harbourside restaurant frequented by mainly Greeks and is invariably very busy

We walked past this restaurant a few days ago and the food smelled wonderful, we returned and we weren't disappointed. We had the house salad, really tasty with figs, pomegranate, carrot, ginger, lettuce, peppers, beautiful. We also had the meatballs and the courgette bake, all tasty with a complementary desert. Very reasonable priced, good service, great location, recommended.

When asked what kind of cuisine they most enjoyed, our friends answered unpretentious cooking that make people fell at home. The food featured in our menu have derived from an ethnic home style tradition "peasant food" created by hardworking people who cooked for themselves using minimal equipment, fresh and local products and simple cooking methods.
We haven't been there for ages so it was hard to believe the degradation in the quality of food. Still the place is quite popular with the locals as prices are very reasonable. The sauces of the starters the fried potatoes the sausages were not...MoreWe would like to thank you for your review. Our customers’ opinion is what make us improving. We hope to see you another time.

This place could rival any French patisserie in terms of what is on offer. It isn't your typical Greek pastries on sale. The cabinet is filled with beautiful looking pastries. I had the coffee cream tart which was absolutely delicious. My husband had the lemon tart - also excellent. It is very pleasant sitting in the little street outside enjoying your coffee and pastry. I found the staff serving us (a male) to be courteous. You can get a decaf coffee here too.
