A sensational 2 room boutique hotel and restaurant in the south Gold Coast of Sri Lanka. WB is a private house but also the essential location for food and sun-seekers; it’s a secluded and stylish retreat just minutes from Galle where you can relax by the sea and indulge in delicious Italian cuisine accompanied by a good choice of wines. Chill out in tropical lounging pavilions, go for a dip in the beautiful coral lagoon and dry off on sun drenched loungers whilst enjoying the beautiful Panorama of the ocean. The Italian owner’s classic architectural styling has been cleverly combined with monochrome interiors and luxurious furnishings that invite you to do no more than relax and imbibe.Indulge in a daily-changing menu that includes homemade choice of sauce for pastas, freshly baked "ciabatta" bread and plenty of fresh seafood. Items such as Italian antipasti and real Extra Virgin Olive Oil are specially imported from Italy for authenticity. Evening menus can always be pre-arranged whilst our scenic location makes WB the ideal place to host private parties that can be tailor-made to meet your individual desires and needs. You are welcome and as the coral lagoon offers safe and secluded swimming year-round it is a comfortably reassuring choice.

Welcome to Black & White restaurant.
The best culinary experience of Unawatuna beach. Famous for outstanding food and great ambiance in a charming restaurant. Perfect dining experience on the beach with a usual casual flair.
We are proud to serve only the freshest food. Our seafood always a fresh catch of the day, fruits and vegetables come from local markets, we prepare our food to reflect the freshness and original taste with special attention to each and every dish.
Our menu offers a selection of fresh seafood, international cuisine, and Sri Lankan traditional rice and curry which are all prepared & cooked to very high standard by our chefs.
Our kitchen is open 7.30 a.m. to 9.30 p.m. and our bar is open until our last customer leaves.
We are closed during the full moon.
We rented to sunbeds for the day. The beds are ok but Morning exceptional in comparisson to the other places at the beach. However their food and drinks were all good; the juices, the iced coffee, the fruit platter and later at the night our diner! We would definitely spent our day here again!

Had both lunch and dinner when we were at Koggala. The place is managed by Military or ex-Military.
The selection was quite good and one can’t complain about the food either. Has a fairly large area for kids to run about and even has an old plane (pictured)
Its actually quite close to the beach as well.

Directly at the shore, ample sandy beach, free wifi, good food for reasonable price, beer served in bottle coolers. We only used the restaurant, but there are some 4 or 6 apartments available aside the restaurant, at the beach also, looking quite nice and quiet !

After 14 days in Sri Lanka, we wanted to change from the traditionnal rice&curry so we ordered 2 pizza's! They were delicious! And the view on the beach is also very pleasant.
It's a bit more expensive then what we were used to, but the food was worth the price (around 1600rps/ pizza).

This place was just lovely.
We spent 5 nights here.
Pros:
Hot and cold shower.
Very comfortable bed, surrounded by well fitted mosquito net (none got in!!!)
Huge patio with 2 chairs and a built in lounge chair.
Best wifi we experienced in Sri Lanka.
Restaurant on site. We had banana chocolate pancakes here and a key lime pie, all very good. Modern coffee machine also in situ.
Plug adaptor provided (Sri Lanka uses a somewhat rare plug).
Mosquito plugs provided.
Friendly staff.
Transport service available.
3500 a night (non AC room).
Clean bathroom area.
Safe in the room.
What could be improved:
Our room was not tidied for the 5 nights we were here. The sink could have done with a clean, bins emptying and a fresh bed sheet would have been nice.
There are lots of mosquitos in around the patio area / room (still this is natural and cannot be helped).
We had a fan room and nothing really dried - towels etc remained damp and only got changed once.
1 plug socket behind the bed which was hard to get to due to the fitted mozzie net.
A twin bed option would have been preferred for us rather than a double.
I would highly recommend staying here. We were going to stay for 3 nights but stayed for 5. Very comfortable / easy with welcoming staff.

The giant lobster prawns were delicious but my husband’s chicken curry was very grissly. Service was terrible, there were only four tables eating and four waiters so you would have thought we’d get a lot of attention yet every time we would have to wave one down (after a few attempts) or even go to the bar ourselves to pick up an extra beer after waiting 10 mins after ordering one. Bearing in mind the restaurant was less than a quarter full I have no idea how they cope when it’s busier. The actual decor and setting is really nice though.

Having stayed next door to plantations I had breakfast and dinner here pretty much every day. The Standard Breakfast choices are delicious especially the porridge which fills you up after an early morning surf. Dinner is also really good you can order from a wide menu or for 500rp have a set dinner (order before 4pm) at the long table with the rest of the guests. This was always a great option, good food (especially the rice & curry) and very sociable with lots of friendly people so ideal when travelling alone.
The food and drinks are really good quality but the best thing about plantations is the staff. Everyone is so friendly and helpful and will go above and beyond to make sure you are looked after. Would thoroughly recommend. Thanks for a great stay Chattu & Family

We use the BEST local ingredients to elevate International classics into something new and sublime. Our produce is Organic wherever possible, and we aim to use sustaibale modern suppliers who we can help promote in the local market
Amazing food and kickass drinks! The crowd was good. The ambience was apt. This place has a backdoor entry from beach too and the other entry is through the main road Unawatuna.
We tried different dishes and all were top notch. Service was good and fast.
They gave us a waiting table since the place was full (high rated on most websites) and served drinks there. But they were reluctant to serve food on waiting table, which was a fair ask from their side.
A must must visit restaurant if you going to Unawatuna!! don't miss this one.

Fresh pastries, croissants, danish, birthday cakes , bread
Whilst very much French, they did make one of the best tasting pots of tea in the English style in Unawatuna. So much so. We visited on 4 occasions in the afternoon during our stay and each time we were lucky enough to get a table on the front verandah.
Unfortunately, no crust less little threecornered sandwiches nor scone and clotted cream, but the lemon flans were nonetheless very tasty.
