This isn't a fancy-pants tea with doilies and strict manners, but it's better than that: It's a casual afternoon tea, with scads of choices of homemade desserts and treats. There were at least five or six desserts to choose from, all freshly made by the hostess. Wonderful light scones, served with homemade jam and whipped cream (instead of clotted cream). A choice of tea sandwiches: ham, egg, or cucumber. A choice of teas served in individual pots. Everything as if it had been made specially for you. We loved this place.

Lotus Garden is conveniently located for anyone driving through Kensington on Route 2, on the way to Summerside or Charlottetown. Their proximity to the Independent grocery store is also handy, should you have to wait for your order.
No complaints overall with the quality of food (other than the occasional stray piece of chicken which seems to find its way into the vegetable lo mein). Their Canadian food is also surprisingly good.
The restaurant itself can be a lonely place to dine on weekdays, though it's usually busy on Fridays and weekends.
The level of service can be good or bad, depending on how busy they are. For take out, I'd strongly recommend ordering by phone ahead of time, otherwise be prepared to be ignored if the place is busy.

The new owner made a lot of physical improvements but some of the food quality has declined. Example: fish burgers are not nice. Fries are a bit greasy.

The Kitchen Witch is located in an historic two-room schoolhouse built in 1832.The school building has been lovingly restored to authentic 19th Century decor. It features the original hardwood floors, trim and wainscotting throughout as well as gorgeous double-hung paned windows which admit lots of natural light and a breathtaking view. Beautifully decorated, it features antique wooden tables and pressback chairs, lovely wallcoverings and window treatments and vintage prints.Established in 1980, The Kitchen Witch Tea Room developed a tremendously loyal clientele of repeat customers, comprising both summer visitors and local residents. It has offered a tempting menu of sandwiches served on home-baked breads, freshly-ground coffee and a variety of teas.We have owned and operated The Kitchen Witch since 2006. We have a completely separate and fully equipped gluten-free kitchen. We do not serve fast food, and there is no deep-fried food here at all. We cook almost entirely from scratch, so depending on your order and any orders ahead of yours it may take some time. Please, if you are in a hurry, let your server know and we will do our best to accommodate your needs. We understand if you are in a hurry and need to come back another time when you are in less of a rush. We have games on the table, including peg games, crosswords, sudoko, word search and cryptoquick. Children’s menus with crayons, and adult colouring pages with colour pencils are available on request.
Don't miss this , off the beaten track! More than a tearoom.....great for lunch too! Country atmosphere, fabulous choice of teas, goodies and really yummy gluten free too!
Both caffeine free and international teas to choose from.
The service was great, friendly and accommodating. Sells local preserves and some gifts too!

We wish to extend a warm and cordial Island welcome. Whether you are visiting us for business or pleasure we know you will enjoy your experience. We hope it will bring back memories of your "home place".This historic home was built in 1915 by local merchant Parmenus Orr and retains much of the original ambiance through thoughtful renovations, hardwood floors and period furnishings. Many of the family's original furnishings, antiques, photographs and oil paintings, painted by Orr family descendents, hang proudly on our walls. A large verandah on the front of the house is available for "old fashion" relaxing. In 1849, John Orr set sail from Charlottetown Harbour on board the Brig Fanny to seek his fortune in the California gold fields. His interesting account of the voyage is on display and a mural of the Brig Fanny graces the down stair wall. The Home Place Inn has preserved the rich history of the Orr family and we cordially invite you to share this history and experience our comfortable home. We treat our guests as we like to be treated.
This has become one of my "go to" places to have a nice meal with visiting family and friends. Everything is made from scratch, even the desserts. Best homemade rolls I have ever tasted. Reasonably priced. I gave sampled many entrees and desserts. All have been excellent. Nice airy atmosphere in the back section.

Globally Inspired & Locally Sourced Island Cuisine & Hospitality. Local Beers on Draught, Wine List in the Historic Kensington Station.
Decent food and good quantty, service is friendly and usually prompt. Nice ambience as they havent messed with the original railway decor. Usually lots of paking available as long as you stay away from liquor store side. Do wish they would do something about the wasps in the eaves as it limits the use of the outdoor dining space

Seems that each year we visit this restaurant as we drive through Kensington. We stopped on our way to the campground for a late lunch, and stopped again 8 days later for dinner as we were heading for home. Both visits were great. Service was perfect and food filling. For our lunch visit ,my daughter and wife each had the chicken wrap. hey should have shared one as it was large and good. For our dinner visit, we started with a nacho platter ($13) even though we knew our main meal would be enough. Sure enough, my Chicken Fettuccini Alfredo ($14) was with lots of chicken and more than enough. Our son had the two piece fish and chips ($15), and could have just had the one piece. My wife and daughter had Quesadilla ($13) and a chicken wrap ($13). Leftovers for the next day. Our server "Leslie" was fast and pleasant making this another great visit.

We had an amazing meal here on a Tuesday night; the entire staff treated us very well and the food was great! We enjoyed the fresh oysters, chowder, fish& chips and the lobster/crabmeat BLT. The setting is as wonderful as the food-set off a quiet road and on a river, I wished it was warmer so we could have enjoyed the outside deck. A special shout to Tarynn (spelling?) who's friendly smile was contagious!
