We went here last night and had a wonderful meal. The menu was distinctly French but also very imaginative and the food was delicious. The waitress was very friendly and helpful (without being pushy). A great experience which we'd definitely recommend.

The Wheatsheaf is in the heart of the charming hamlet of Brigsteer, between the parishes of Helsington and Levens, and only three miles from Kendal. Snugly settled under the limestone escarpment of Scot Scar, charming lanes ad path ways leads to the Lyth Valley, famous for its damsons.Great dinning is offered to suit all tastes; old favourites, and a few more; handmade pizzas, Cumbrian delicacies, including of course, the all the all important Cumberland sausage! Where ever you sit you will enjoy a very warm welcome, and a hearty plateful!
Lovely village location. We had a Sunday evening meal here on a cold February night. It was still full and many tables reserved. Great bear on draught. Really nice decor with lots of smaller areas.
The food was wonderful. Piping hot and tasty. The lamb pie was amazing. Would have no hesitation going back - with accommodation so might come back and stay too!

Stopped for Sunday lunch bar very busy as function room being used. Found a table thanks to a couple saying they were just leaving. Ordered food and drinks quickly the coolly wobbles beer which is brewed on the premisses was wonderful. The food was also great two coolly wobbles steak and ale pies which was great along with a nice Sunday beef lunch and a scampi. All looked great and nice some might find the service slow but was waiting for.

Been here several times, most recently at the end of September. Parking can be a problem on this small business estate, but once in, it's a great place for lunch. There's a great selection of beers, tasty food and very good service. As well as standard tables, they have a couple of sofas too. Dog and children friendly. Recommended.

The Castle Dairy Restaurant and Art Gallery offers a unique dining experience in Kendal’s oldest inhabited building. Staffed by Kendal College apprentices and watched over by chef Chris O’Callaghan, the restaurant provides exceptional food, surrounded by local art work, in a truly unusual setting.
Visited with my brother in law who has extensive experience of top quality hotels in Vancouver and P&O cruise ships. Both food and service impressed him, I just thought their taster menu experience was fantastic. He was taking photographs of each course and emailing them to Canada. What an assett for Kendal.

The Joshua Tree is a delightful fully licensed Cafe & Bistro in one of Kendal's oldest buildings. Coffee Shop by day & our 'Famous' Starter & Pudding Club held monthly in the evening Tucked away in one of Kendal's historic yards - a lovely sunny courtyard to catch those summer rays & inside a cosy open log fire for those cold chilly days. All our food is freshly prepared and locally sourced. We are available for private parties (minimum 12 people) and can design a menu to suit any occasion from finger buffets to sumptuous 3 course dinners
I like to be balanced in my observations so to be fair the food has taste, there are some enterprising ideas (pud club) but is there a complacency in the furniture and does the whole building need an overnight soak in soda?
The staff were good & looked after you. Cutlery was clean, but the tables, even after a disinfectant squirt seemed tired and jaded. The outside furniture too seemed worse for wear?
Still the important thing was the food which was very tasty and bountiful. And this must be one of the few places you don’t need to ask for more hot water for your teapot as it comes without asking.
Thank you for that.

Snuggled beautifully between the majestic limestone outcrops of Scout Scar and Whitbarrow Scar, lying in the rolling, pastoral, damson tree-strewn landscape of the Lyth valley, is our luxuriously refurbished 9 bedroom hotel and restaurant. If you're looking for a place to eat or drink that's got that something special, or a place to stay that delivers something extraordinary, then the Lyth Valley is it!
Went for lunch here recently. Gorgeous dining room with delightful views. We all had soup to start. Roasted Tomato delicious, Cullen Sink tasty. Both served with home made small loaves and butter but certainly too hearty to precede a main meal. None of us was...MoreThank you so much for your lovely comments.

Four of us visited 2 Sisters at Plumgarth today and had a lovely lunch ( Have been several times before) I had the leek and ham quiche with salad and potato salad and it was simply the best quiche I have had. A generous portion with lovely fresh salad. My companions enjoyed their meals too and the staff were efficient and friendly. Would defineately recommend and will certainly return.
