Storgammen Restaurant is a Sami-inspired restaurant. Food is served in the traditional Sami way around the open fire. Opening hours: 11 Jun - 17 Aug, 11.00-23.00 or by reservation. Location: By Rica Hotel Karasjok.
Storgammen restaurant is located close to the Scandic hotel and the Sapmi Park.
It is an incredible place... The building is partially underground. The dining room is divided between small alcoves organized around a fire.
The food was really excellent. We ate a reindeer steak. The meat was very tasty and proposed with Brussels sprouts.
The staff was very welcoming and efficient. The price is high but remains acceptable.

At the Sapmi Cafe at Sapmi Park you can order light dishes. Groups should book in advance. Please also book in advance for facilities outside of opening hours. Location: at the Sapmi Park.
The food was okay, it wasn't bas, but way too expensive. The entire museum was insanely expensive even for Norwegian standards. We payed 17 euros per person, I didn't think the museum was worth it. It's interesting but not worth 17 euros. Outside you can look at some reindeer and Sami houses. Inside there is a 20 minute film on sami mythology. It looks like the museum spend a lot of money on the cinema, I wish they would have spend it on an exhibition space to show us photos and stories of the specific Sami that lives in that area. Unfortunately I cannot recommend this museum.

We decided to eat here because it was much cheaper than anywhere else in the town. We both enjoyed our food which was well cooked and efficiently served. The French fries were excellent and my burger was succulent. My husband enjoyed his reindeer steak too. Coffee was free and so was the water. We left happy and full and without a big hole in our wallet!

Discreto. Quattro stelle per la gentilezza e pazienza
