This is my 3rd time to Soggy Dollar Bar in 10 years. As always we had a blast, enjoyed the view and drinks! It was sad to see what that storms had done but they have done a great job rebuilding. The store is a much better set up and the bar looks almost identical. Big difference is the trees and plants (which they are replanting). Food was great. Service was great. Drinks (painkillers) were great! A must do on your stop to BVI!

We had heard we needed to try Abe's from friends that have been for years. It didn't disappoint! We had called the night before (reservations are needed at all restaurants on JVD) and they said they would be ready for us. Sitting at the end of the dock it was just the 2 of us and we couldn't have felt more at home. The ladies took great care of us and we ate 2 of the largest lobsters we have ever seen! The rice and salads were fresh, service was fantastic and the lobsters were incredible! With the honor bar we also realized we are good bartenders:) What a great experience! See you next year!

Nice quiet place in town, not far from the police station. We called for Reservations any had to tell them what we wanted in advance (fish). Which is not unusual on JVD. When we arrived there was only one other couple dining. I think we got a menu even though we had already specified we were getting the fish. There service was very casual and laid back. The meal was good, I had Mahi-Mahi with usual Islands sides of rice and vegetable. I think I had a beer and I don't remember if we had desert. The prices were inline with the rest of JVD pricing. You went up to pay at the bar on your way out and lady figured your bill out on a small pad of paper and handed it to you. They accepted credit cards. A friendly gentlemen who sat at the bar and appeared to work there, might have been the owner, loved old time country music and mostly played it while we were dining. It was played at nice volume that you could still have a conversation.

WOW! what a great little find. Just steps from the dock this bakery has everything you need. We got bread and other treats but what I can't seem to get out of my mind are those huge chocolate chip cookies.

We were sailing in the Virgin Islands and stopped at Great Harbour for a few days. It always seems that once we pick up a mooring, it becomes harder every day to leave this fantastic, almost mythical, island.
One afternoon, I went ashore and stopped at Foxy's. As always, the burger was great and the beer was ice cold. It was a sunny day and I was thoroughly enjoying just sitting at the bar which is on the sand and watching the scenery, when I noticed Foxy had come in..
So, I went over to say hello. I have met him several times in the past,. and I wanted to see how things were doing on Jost since the hurricanes. His main building, which housed his kitchen, survived, and, for about a month after the storms, it became the "community kitchen" for Jost Van Dyke. I mentioned that I heard what he had done, but he shrugged it off as nothing special, just what the island people do for each other. No wonder that he was honored a few years ago by the Queen.
He then told me has written a song about the hurricanes - which he refers to as 'IRMARIA". He had recently traveled up to Atlanta to record the song for a fund raising album to help the Virgin Islands with their on-going recovery efforts. He then proceeded to pull out his guitar and give me a private rendition of the new song.
He then said that this new song would make him famous. I had to chuckle when I told him that he was already world famous ( I think the Queen made him an MBE - Member of the British Empire ?)
So, if you go to Jost Van Dyke, be sure to stop at Foxy's. He is truly the stuff of legends, and his bar-restaurant is classic Virgin Islands !!!

Jewel and Mary are the sweetest ladies ever. You can spend an entire day there. Stop in before heading to the Bubbly Pool...start your tab...have lunch...they will even hold your car keys for you while you are at the pool and snorkeling...

First of all, the setting gets the most credit, but this place delivers charm and good times. The bar is serve yourself - open up the log book, put your boat's name in there and start writing down everything you consume. During happy hour, the red pen comes out and everything you write down with that is discounted.
Strawberry comes out and introduces herself and constantly reminds you to make yourself at home. I charged my phone and used the wifi to call home.
I saw people bring their own food and just buy drinks.
The beer was mainly limited to Corona, Carib, and Coors. There are multiple blenders there and a large selection of hard liquor. I didn't notice the brands.
There's good anchoring and polite boys helping you out on the dock.

We have been to Jost many times over the years. Every time we're there, we give One Love another chance. They have the SURLIEST bartenders we've ever run across. We are always pleasant..." Good Morning/afternoon " ....we're not loud or arrogant and we're great tippers. Yet we have gotten the cold shoulder each visit...what's the deal? We have great rapport with many of the bartenders on island...many remember us from previous visits with smiles and/or hugs. After this last visit, we're done....I'll give my business to the places that care that we're there.
