We stopped here after failing to book somewhere in Kitzbuhel for dinner on a wet Saturday in March. The staff were very pleasant and it had a local feel about it. The menu was interesting but the fresh water suppe very disappointing. The choice of Austrian wines was also expensive and disappointing. Main courses on the other hand were excellent. The restaurant does private dining and the chef is well qualified judging by the certification around the walls. It was good food but lacking in atmosphere despite the staff wearing traditional Austrian dress. There was no music.

This is a place you need to know in advance: it is situated next to the main road and not in the city center and if you would not know this place, you would pass by easily. Inside there is a mixture of Tirolian wood finish and Texan accessories.
Since there are not that many tables, better make a reservation in advance.
The stakes were all superb. Sauses (I took the truffle mayonnaise) was delicious, and the Argentinian Malbec complemented the steak perfectly. The desert (creme brulee) was a bit off: the cream was too cold for me and the caramelized sugar too thick.
Waiter is very friendly and speaks good English.

We were there twice last week and had each time an excellent experience. The service was very personal and warm and the menu delicately Austrian with fresh ingredients and definitely no precooked stuff. A must go if in the area. The dining rooms were very typical and nice.

This is a special place where the owners are hands on in the dining area and in the kitchen area. From the moment we walk in the door we are warmly greeted and smell home cooked meals being prepared in the kitchen. If you visit during the spring and summer months you have a beautiful Tirolean view from the casual patio area (on the backside of the building) with umbrellas to shade the warm Sunshine. Bikers are warmly welcomed here...and are sitting amongst the restaurant's loyal local customers and tourists. The menu has many options for the hungry customer and daily specials allow for additional creativity for seasonal food specialties. If you are looking for a warm,cozy atmosphere in the winter months..the authentic wood paneled dining room is just the spot for you. Be aware that you should make Reservations in advance due to intimate small size of dining room. I have a special place in my heart for the Gasthof Alte Wacht...it's straightforward delicious food makes my stomach smile!!! Lunch and dinner are available to enjoy. Rooms are available to overnight guests.

Quick service and excellent food: what more can you ask for of a mountain top restaurant? Relaxed and large Seating options: bar tables, couches, oudoor tables... Menu was right on, we would have gone back to order the same thing every day of the week!

It' s a small and typicall Austrian restaurant with a very cozy decoration. Top on the hill and road goes between trees and country houses. We used shuttle from Kempinski hotel das Tirol, took 5 minutes.
You need reservation before because of the capacity and very recommended. No welcome downstairs go direct to upstairs.
Menu is a bit small mostly dumplings and pasta stuffed cheese&spinach&bacon. Try s ' Bärenbichler Hauspfandl with any kind of meat.
There' s a private room for the kids and it' s an animal friendly restaurant.
Everything is freshly prepared so you can wait for a while but no complaints with the service.
I recommend;
Fried Achentalalm cheese with salad
Bauernsalat with roasted potato & bacon
Bärenbichler Hauspfandl Chicken
Fried blueberry & rasperry waffle
Average;
Veal Shcnitzel with cranberry
Goulash of beef

We are very regular visitors to this lovely restaurant, located in the pretty village of Jochberg, around 10 minutes drive from Kitzbuhel. It is an excellent all rounder, the welcome is always warm, service fast, & the food delicious & ridiculously good value. The cuisine is traditional, straight forward Austrian, with an array of schnitzels & other meat dishes as well as salads & light bites. Fantastic Kaisersmarrn too, as mentioned by the previous reviewer. Michaela, the charming, very hard working proprietress, moves at a lightning pace around the room & standards remain high as she is always on duty alongside her dedicated, long standing tightly knit team. The atmosphere is relaxed & easy going, it's a wonderfully laid back environment, frequented by locals & tourists alike. Fab.

Amongst all the modern mountain huts this one stands small and old.
Which is a good thing!
Low ceilings give a clue, basic, charming and cosy.
Good honest food & service.
If you want to escape the crowds and the cafeteria-esq alternatives make the effort to find this hut.
Depending on who is working it might be an adventure, unless you have good German language skills, but even when one of our meals was incorrect our hostess change it if with no fuss and even without understanding the language it was clear she took full responsibility for the mixup. Unlike other huts we have been to.
We liked it so much we went out of our way to go back the same day.
