We went to Kansai Airport and looked for quick dinner. After walking around for a while, we decided to try this Tonkatsu restaurant as there were many customers. We ordered Tonkatsu set, one regular and one premium. The staff and service was excellent. The food was also very good as well. Recommended for Tonkatsu lover who visit Kansai airport.

A cavernous airy restaurant with plenty of Seating choices (in booths and along the counter) served by a double (clockwise and anti-clockwise) conveyor belt system. It looks and feels like assembly line eating. If the content of the passing plates are not of your preference, you can place your order from the menu through the many convivial waiters on stand by near you. The orders get filled in little time.
There is psychological risk of taking more food you can consume as the parade of colourful tempting sushi passes by. So do exercise some discipline and self-control. We still ended up with a stack of more than twenty-five plates between the two of us. Sushi freshness is decent (off the belt) but seems better when you order it from the menu. There is good variety too including the politically incorrect whale sushi (which tasted like old tuna btw and totally underwhelming).
Daikisuisan is one of the many restaurants to choose from in between your shopping ventures at the nearby Rinku Town Premium Outlet. It appears to be frequented by locals and tourists alike. Prices are quite reasonable.
PS: do take some time to admire the beautiful 3D paper art of sea creatures just outside the entrance.

The Brasserie

The freshest, most delish orange juice I've ever tasted, bar none! And thumbs up on the spread. A lot of fresh local ingredients. Plenty to choose from: Oriental or Continental. It was our first full day in Osaka, having arrived the night before and we had a long day ahead of us, so the full breakfast spread was such a welcome treat!
Service staff was responsive, taking great attention to re-filling the variety of offerings on the buffet counters.
The ambience was warm and pleasant, the surroundings clean!

The service was a bit slow, it took more than ten minutes for my drink to come.
I had ordered half a crispy duck, when it came it was just the crispy skin, a few pieces on prawn crackers. The skin was rolled at the table into pancakes.
One beer and rolls (8) cam to $ 90!!!!!!!!

This lovely restaurant is set in Gufuso Garden and the tables have views of this. In the evening the garden is lighted. This is right behind Kishiwada Castle. The meal was traditional Japanese and the service was perfect. The meal was not expensive, a little over forty dollars for a meal that included sake. You are free to walk around the garden even if you don't eat there. This is a special place!

We had dinner here after a long day of flying. The staff are friendly and the English menu is well written, though knowing a little Japanese makes it easier to order. We had the tonpeiyaki and pork modern-yaki (local specialties) and they were both delicious.

Takomasa Kansai Airport

TAKOMASA is one of the oldest takoyaki shops in Osaka. One of our shops is in Kansai International Airport 2F Dining court “MACHIYA KOUJI”. There are “to-go-menu” and “eat-in-menu” at our Kansai International Airport shop. Before you leave Osaka or after you come back to Osaka, you can enjoy Osaka’s famous “Takomasa’s original soy sauce based takoyaki” at Kansai International Airport;) There are not only original takoyaki, but also other dishes like “Japanese fried noodles” and other flavored takoyaki “takoyaki with rice cake & cheese” etc. You can find our frozen takoyaki as a souvenir at our Kansai International Airport shop. Our frozen products are contained in the cold storage boxes, so you can carry the boxed products for about 15 hours without any refrigerants. For storage, please put the frozen boxed products in the freezer as soon as when you get home. It’s easy to cook with a microwave oven

We stumbled upon this arrival inside the Machiyakoji Dining Court, and thought we’d give it a try since Osaka is supposedly famous for its takoyaki. Service was smooth and pleasant, and they churn out the takoyaki pretty quickly. There were several variations, but we got the one with leeks, as well as the akashiyaki. The latter is somewhat similar to takoyaki in that both contain octopus, but the akashiyaki is apparently made with an egg-rich batter, and is dipped in a broth before eating. Appearance-wise, they look awesome, but sad to say they disappointed taste-wise; in fact even with all the condiments, the taste was rather light. Mind you, the food didn’t come cheap either. Their version of takoyaki is quite runny on the inside, and tasted like it was over-spiced with ginger. I’m not entirely sure what is the “right” way of making takoyaki, but this runny version seemed undercooked and left us rather disconcerted. I have never eaten akashiyaki before, so I guess it’s not really my place to comment. I would say their version has a light egg fragrance and is wobbly and runny on the inside, much like their takoyaki. Taste-wise, it was rather flat too.

Last meal before departing Japan, and we hoped to have a pleasant meal before boarding the flight. Staff were friendly though we had to abandon our luggage at the entrance. Service was prompt and fuss-free, and we managed to communicate our requirements by a combination of sign-language, English and "arigato's". Mostly soba dishes on offer, and we chose based on pictorial representations of the final dish :-). Food arrived quickly and was well-presented. I have to temper my comments by declaring that soba is not my favourite form of Japanese cooking. Nonetheless, the general consensus from the party was that this was not our most memorable meal in Japan, and we left the restaurant feeling slightly let-down. I noticed the restaurant was certified Halal on exit.

Okonomiyaki translated means fried whatever you want (or so I was told by my Japanese chef).
If you are about to leave Japan and have not tried this dish. You would be doing yourself a disservice by not stoping here on your way out.
15min cooking time and they will warn you before being seated.

This is one of the many small restaurants on the second floor of the Kansai International Airport complex. "551 Horai" Chinese food restaurant chain is well known in Japan for their simple Japanese-style Chinese food and their steamed buns with port and vegetable filling.
The service was quick and foods (Mabo tofu rice and seafood fried noodle) were good and filling. Pricing is slightly higher, probably due to its location at airport.
