Love the noodle and the fried sweet potatoes especially. You can probably skip the carp sashimi dishes. Overall, great value for the food quality. You will need a car to reach this place thou.

The restaurant is almost at the end of a main shopping street closer to the sea, about 10 minutes from Ibusuki station. I had a cheaper set menu and a small kettle of Sweet Potato Shochu and Paid US$28. The restaurant may be the fanciest restaurant in Ibusuki. All the local dishes served were very tasty and I liked them very much specially with local shochu called Riemon(Black version). I should have better come with my friends to share more dishes and Shochu.

旅館ですが、宿泊客以外も朝食や昼食をいただくことができます。
料理は刺身や煮魚定食がありますが、おすすめはなんといってもカツオのたたき定食。
カツオはまったく臭みがありません。
そのためか薬味は控えめで、カツオの美味しさが楽しめます。

This place is just past the train station on left. Look for the green curtain above the door. I had a lunch set that consisted of a bowl of a sort of stew with pork,tofu, a poached egg, and veggies. Included was a bowl of rice, some pickles, and slice of sweet potato in a sugar syrup as desert. Price 850 yen. Sharon had a bowl of rice that had pork, bean sprouts, okra, tomatoes. Her set included dashi broth, pickles and the sweet potato slice. Same price. Good value for very tasty food. This is a popular place at lunch and becomes busy after 12:30 PM.
The meal included green tea or water, so a delicious complete meal for a great price.

Located inside of satsuma-denshokan, but you don't have to pay for the museum to enter this restraunt. They have nice garden view, delicious food priced properly. But I loved their graceful and polite staffs the most.

Tohsenkyo is one of my best restaurants since childhood.
The main dish is SOHMEN, a kind of Japanese noodle made from wheat.
SOHMEN is similar to Udon, but it is thiner than Udon.
Moreover, in Tohsenkyo, the manner to eat sohmen is very unique even in Japan.
We say, Sohmen Nagashi about Tohsenkyo.
Sohmen Nagashi means "flowing noodle”, that is, Sohmen is flowing on the table in Tohsenkyo restaurant.
We catch and eat flowing sohmen like picture below.
The water flowing sohmen comes from very clean water springs, which is one of famous water springs.
Best season to go there is, of course, in summer.
In summer, please be careful for very very crowded situation during lunch time.
Probably, you go there by car. If so, during lunch time, it may be difficult to find a parking place.
Even in winter, I often go to Tohsenkyo. Temperature is not very cold because of southern place in Japan.
I like very much taste of Sohmen of this Tohsenkyo. Please try it !
鹿児島では,そうめん流しといいます.流しそうめんとは言いません.
それは,写真のように流すものが円環状の流水器で,一般的な竹製の樋は使わないからでしょうか?
そうめんはとても美味しいです.
個人的には,マスの塩焼きは必ず食べます.唐船峡に湧いている湧水で養殖されているマスです(たしか,,,).

Such a small Rahmen shop with just few counter seats facing to the busy traffic street .. I never expected to get so tasty Rahmen and gyoza! They even offers good coffee and Waffel.
Too bad Ibusuki is so far away even in Japan, that I would most probably never visit again. But if you are visiting Ibusuki you should definitely visit here to have Rahmen for you lunch or in between snack!
