We were looking for a fun, authentic Austrian restaurant and Goassstal was perfect. Located on the side of the mountain you can either arrive by skiing or from the street below, it’s an intense climb. Follow the one arrow which points upward on the street. There is a wood door that leads through a tunnel under the slope to the restaurant. We missed the tunnel and walked up the slope. Another arrow would have been helpful. However the vibe was apparent as soon as we arrived. There is much outdoor Seating full to the brim with skiers. We opted to sit inside. It was crowded but that just added to the ambiance. We shared a table with another couple and enjoyed a cappuccino. Big screen tv was on and everyone was watching slalom races. The goat decor with an Austrian twist was fun. Even live goats could be seen behind glass Ziachi/Rene was our server. He was both attentive and informative about the restaurant. We wanted to come back for dinner but they were fully occupied. Make Reservations in advance to enjoy this truly authentic Austrian restaurant. Make the effort via skiing or walking so worth it.

Visited Alm for lunch and was lucky to pick a day when there was a band playing. Food was good along with the service although there was a big problem with some wasps which made sitting outside a bit uncomfortable.
The views from this alm are great which look across Saalbach and the surrounding Mountains. Plenty of activities for children and there is a museum at the end of the garden which was very interesting.

Good food, and quick and friendly service. Do not expect too much in terms of decorations and atmospehere. It is a bit like a sports club house, small but authentic. Within walking distance of Fairhotel (approx.10 minutes).

In 1999/2000 the Alte Schmiede was built to be an outstanding mountain and ski restaurant with 400 seats, which is open in summer and winter. It belongs to the hotel Krallerhof. In 2008 the Alte Schmiede was extended to accomodate up to 550 guests. Decorated with different awards, the Alte Schmiede is certainly one of the most unique restaurants in the Mountains. The focal point is the gallery with a mill from 1885. Lovingly restored, this unique mill still grinds today. Moreover there is a Ski Museum in honour of Sepp Altenberger sen. Both, the AsitzBrau and the Alte Schmiede, are ideal starting points for hikes and mountainbike tours. Furthermore, it is a popular spot for Concerts, events and tvproductions.
Went here for lunch with my wife. Our orders were taken with my wife's arriving 15 mins BEFORE mine. I expect the food to come all at once...a normal expectation. Staff were rude also.
The final nail in the coffin was the fact that even though smoking is only allowed in sectioned off areas...there was a guy happily smoking at the bar...which is beside were the Seating for food is....and area with kids...
My suggestion would be to go to "hendi fischerei" about 20m away...or somewhere on the slopes.
They have a bit of a monopoly but that is no reason for these items i mentioned.

Visited here on a very busy night last week. The service was very slow and as we were upstairs in a corner it was very hard to get anyone's attention. Having said that, the waitress was very friendly. It definitely has a much better ambience downstairs. One of our party is a vegetarian and there was only the pizza option available as there was nothing else on the menu suitable. The food was generally of a good standard but nothing to rave about. Sadly, after eating a burger here my son became quite ill and was being sick in the night. The rest of our party have been fine so it is difficult to put it down to a bug but one can never be sure. I have advised the restaurant who categorically state this cannot possibly due to their food as they follow very high safety standards. I'm sure they do, but it is always best to investigate these matters. I didn't particularly care for their response which warned me to be 'very careful' about making such complaints. Hopefully this was not intended and was a comment lost in translation! We visit Saalbach every year but probably wont be returning here as the standard of food and choice is so high elsewhere.

Had a very good meal here, menu covers most tastes. Best to have wine by the glass with your meal as bottles can be very expensive.

We had a really enjoyable evening at Spielberghaus for dinner. Food was well prepared and very tasty. Wines and drinks were of sufficient variety. The only problem is that you are required to complete your meal in under two hours as you are shuttled up and down the mountain and need to make space for the next guests.

We ate at Maisalm twice during our stay , the food was excellent and the pizza's were better than in Italy .

Nearly missed the restaurant, you need to be over on the far righthand side and don't think what you see if where its happening, its all round the other side. We were very lucky with the weather and sat on the Terrace, there is a large one beyond the end of the building. Amazing service very attentive and with a sense of humour. We all had various Austrian specialities and weren't disappointed. Will be back!

The Schattberg Stube is located right in the center of the village, by the Schattbergbahn and off the main street.
We loved the atmosphere of the restaurant and went there a few times.
It’s a typical chalet with wood everywhere, walls, ceilings, floors, tables and chairs and warm traditional alpine style decoration.
It’s exactly what you want when you are in a skiing resort as it feels friendly and welcoming, which this place is.
Food was excellent; traditional Austrian food, tasty and portions huge!
Service was very good and fast and the staff members smiley and patient.
They were always on the run as the restaurant was busy, but they never forgot to bring us back what we asked for.
Very decent prices too.
A place we will go back with pleasure.
It's good to know that the restaurant didn't accept booking for between 7pm-8pm; we could book though for a much early supper or after 8.30pm.
I presume this is during winter season, as the restaurant is always packed.
Not sure if it's the same during the summer season?
