I love german food, although I prefer english food!
This restaurant has a nice collection of german specialities.
The surroundings are a bit rustic and if you like modern restaurants you're wrong there!
Althouh they don't really have things for children to do and you can't let children play outside as it's right next to a road, it's worth the experience. But you should have Reservations!

We loved the empanada and tapas. Good variety and service, Spacious joint with friendly staff. Lots to offer in drinks as well.

Excellent meal, well cooked but don't expect vegetables. Try the local Spatsburgunder red wine, it's brilliant. Main bar occupied by locals enjoying the wine but restaurant has good service. They do not take credit/debit cards so be prepared to pay cash.

So much for Blauer Aff(read my review of same), this place should be number one in Bensheim. We were a table of nine and all of us enjoyed our meals. The atmosphere, the service, the decor are all tops. Good parking on premises. Place is super clean. Menu provides broad and good selection. Not your farmers' menu, but not pretentious either. I highly recommend.

Went for a business dinner at this superbly atmospheric spot. Next to the impressive castle, now a youth hostel, with a great view over Heppenheim and further afield. We sat outside appreciating this view until it became a touch chilly. Inside it was a bit rough and ready. Simple food but authentic - schnitzel, chips and salad. Greasy but tasty. I liked the range of beers too. The disappointing aspect was the service, unsmiling and even a touch rude. Surprising since our group brought a good bit of business to the pub on an evening when otherwise it would have been empty. Overall ok but some investment in surroundings and service wouldn't go amiss.

Great place with fantastic setup and food. We took the outside sitting and had a great time having our food. There is lot to choose from and the staff make it easier for you by suggesting speciality items. One of the best.

Simply amazing honest Italian food. Bread with herbs and tomatoes as starter: perfect. Tagliata: almost perfect: a bit too much butter-taste. Probably the german influence.
Very friendly service!
I am often in Darmstadt: I think I will take the time to come back to this place!

The servers helped us choose a dish because we couldn't speak German. It was delicious and they were so accommodating and not aggravated that we were Americans. Lol

There is not much food on offer here, but we went for drinks and desert. We had lovely freshly made crêpes and the two ladies working behind the bar were very sweet indeed. They don't speak English. For me I speak German anyway so it's not an issue but just be aware that if you do want something particular it's probably quite hard to explain it .
I would definitely return because it's cheap and cheerful and inside a lots of cute antics a nice decor.
