We were flabbergasted at how good was our oven-seared cod fillet dinner on our first night in Harlingen Harbour, so much so we went back the next night and were equally dazzled by the quality (and quantity!) of our plaice dinners ... had we stayed another night, we would have made it a hat-trick. Presentation was top-notch and the fish was perfectly cooked as were the fresh vegetables. Service was friendly but did not hover ... the dining room was spotless and well-appointed and the toilet facilities were also well-kept. They were both contenders for the best fish meal I've had the pleasure to enjoy. Highly recommended.

Pleasant spacious restaurant overlooking one of Harlingen's pretty canals. Great Zeland oysters, sashimi and scallops plus amuse gueules thrown in, which we enjoyed with delicious Côtes de Gascogne white. Friendly staff (possibly the owners) who talked us through the differences between Dutch and (local) Frisian. Despite the architectural charms of Harlingen, we decided to skip a visit to the local beach: we asked if it was sand or pebble - 'mud' was the reply. Definitely not cheap at €140 for two, but very good indeed.

My husband and I had dinner last night at Oase and will never return. The food is adequate but the attitude of staff, both the waitress and manager, were extraordinary. Perhaps the language barrier accounted for the first problem. I said I would like sparkling mineral water and then my husband said he would like a large bottle. We were surprised to be brought two glasses (one small, one large) rather than the bottle. We then tried it and found it to be totally flat. We told the waitress this and asked her to please bring a bottle Mathis she did, but no additional glasses. I drank part of my water and poured the rest into the large glass so that we had one empty one into which to pour the new water. Later in the meal I handed the waitress the full glass to take away. When presented with our bill, we were charged four euros for the flat water! I pointed out that it had been unsatisfactory and she said we had drunk one glass and the absolute best they could do was charge us for one instead of two. We had only drunk their poor water to free up a glass. She then involved the manager who supported her position. I cannot recommend this restaurant!

We to this restaurant as it looked as a real upmarket nice little specially restaurant. However inside is became more and more apparent that this little jont was an ever going old that never had the change to renew. The old fashioned famous Dutch were never renewed. Instead they were industrialised by a 'new' pouring machine. Pathetic while depressing to see. The staff was the regular unexperienced student staff that did not had the flair that could had made this poffertjes kraam to nice little spot in the Harlinger harbour.

We came in fairly early, and there were plenty of seats available. We were met promptly and quickly attended to. The staff was both friendly and efficient. We only ordered pizza, so that's all we can comment on, in terms of food. Both pizza's were very nicely prepared with generous toppings and presented, with options of both garlic and chili oil in cruets to spice them up. As we ate, the nearby tables filled up, so it looks like it's popular with locals.

Friends of mine in Friesland took me to this restaurant in Harlingen during a recent visit, and it was a wonderful meal. The menu is varied, with several pages of pizza varieties, which include delicious vegetarian choices, and you can choose your own toppings. The owners are the chefs hard at work in the kitchen, and all of the food is fresh and high quality. They respond to special requests and dietary requirements, and the wait staff is professional and attentive. The salad that comes with the meal was very good, and the house dressing s a closely guarded secret of herbs, oil and vinegar. The wine and beverages were also well represented on the menu, with good value for main courses. Most pizzas are between 8.50 to 11.50 Euro, and are large and filling for the price. We sat outside at a patio table in the quiet picturesque street. The only drawback is that the smoking area is right outside the front entrance, close to the patio tables, so that the smoke drifted across our table. I defnitely recommend this restaurant for a quality meal at a good price.

We enjoyed our visit to t Noorderke & Noorderpoort. We enjoyed a number of Dutch appetizers for our meal complemented by good Dutch beer. The service was good with the Waitstaff teaming up to take care of all tables together - this seemed pretty normal in Holland and something I think all countries could implement as it improved efficiency greatly! We liked being able to sit outside along the canal, but needed to go inside after awhile due to the weather getting a bit cold as the night came on. Definitely a good choice if visiting Harlingen.

Went on a Wednesday evening with a work colleague whilst staying in Harlingen on business. Found the restaurant to be clean and spacious, the service was prompt and an English translated menu was provided. The food was served promptly, generous portions and was very good. This will definitely be a place that I would return to if back in Harlingen again.

The chef in this restaurant knows his craft. Food is excellent, from snacks to full size meals. The best dish is the sea sole that they have fresh at all times. The 500g affair is cooked to perfection and the taste of the delicate fish is to die for. It is not easy nowadays to find a restaurant serving this kind of dish. The day price of the sole was 42 EUR though so be prepared!
The view on the harbor is delightful and the arrival of the ferry from the waddenzee can be witnessed in detail.
There is a private free parking for the guests; use it and avoid the parking ticket or penalty (the Harlingen police will chase you!).

Modern restaurant met ambachtelijke authentieke keuken , in een zeer gastvrije omgeving in het hartje van Harlingen
There are lots of cafes and restaurants in Harlingen to choose from. We chose Nooitgedagt. Overall it was good enough, the food was tasty however the service could have been quicker. I only realised after checking the menu afterwards that my salad had been missing the olives.....
Even though it was warm outside we choose to sit inside due to the ants on the tables outside!
