We have made numerous trips to Salzburg over the years and have had the opportunity to do a lot of cycling in that area. It was a few years ago that I was cycling through the town of Hallein and a local told me about the gelato place in the square. I LOVE gelato and will go out of my way to have great gelato! Well...this place has excellent gelato!! I have cycled 30 KM in the rain on numerous occasions just to have gelato at this place They are generous with the portions and the quality of the gelato is very good! Then there are the gelato creations..oh my...you will not believe them till you see them! There are at least 10 kinds of "Spagetti Eis"....special dishes of gelato made to look like spaghetti! There are gelato parfaits of every size and shape and flavour.The prices are reasonable and the portions are generous! If you get to Salzburg, make an effort to get to Hallein and try the gelato there. You will not be disappointed and will want to come back!!

We had the 12 course menu and it was absolutely amazing, one can surely rely on the gift of these chefs. We were there for four hours to be able to eat all these breathtaking courses. Not only do you get 12 courses, but each one of them is not small :)
I really recommend early Reservations as the restaurant was completely booked out for the next two weeks.

We were staying in Hallein and looking for somewhere nice, but reasonably priced and stumbled upon Stadtkrug, which doesn't have a front window, but does have a smart entrance and a menu displayed. We went up the stairs to find a bustling restaurant with a range of Seating. Very relaxed atmosphere, attentive service, well cooked food and well priced.

Not too many places open on 24 December but Cafe Braun, right in the centre of town, was bustling and lively. People popping in and out, greeting the staff and their friends, large family groups enjoying a get-together. Terrific-looking cakes in the large display counter but the cheesecake sponge we chose was fairly disappointing in texture and too sweet for our taste.

Went in one lunch time and the staff welcomed us in. The spoke English and showed to the non smoker area. Our pizza were really good, thin and crispy. Beer also good!

Sehr netter Gastgarten, flotte und wirklich freundliche Bedienung. Die große Speisekarte ist voll mit guten traditionellen gutbürgerlichen Speisen, aber auch einige Besonderheiten sind zu finden - wohl für jeden Gaumen etwas dabei.
Wir aßen Fitness-Salat und Kalbsnierndl mit Reis und Salat. Ausgezeichnet und wirklich preiswert.
Ich bin sicher bald wieder dort!

We enjoyed our stay from the beginning of our stay starting with a very warm welcome!
Service was really good and the food was of good quality, as well well we enjoyed the good advice for sightseeing and things to do around the region!

This is one of those restaurants which is favoured by locals and not easy to find by tourists. But it is definitely worth visiting it, even if you don't stay nearby - the food is delicious, the atmosphere is very cozy and the staff is most professional.
