First time in Halberstadt, one of the few open restaurants with tables outdoors. Nice atmosphere and very friendly staff. Food was excellent, and healthy. Nice touch when they put a row of teacandles in a glass with a paperbag around from the street to the door.

Carpaccio was very bland and watery, very disappointing. Pumpkin soup was yummy but rather generic. Other menus Iran's similar in fashion. Nice location and very friendly and knowledgeable server, but it wasn't a visit I would write home about.

Don´t expect to get mainly potatoe dishes. The potatoes are more the side dish. The menue is very meat oriented. The potatoe fritters and the french fries are not homemade. It made us wonder why the call themselves potatoecellar. You´d expect homecooked potatoe specialities... Anyway, we had 4 different dishes that were all ok, nothing special but nothing to comlain about. My dish was potatoe in the skin with salmon and curd dip. The relation between potatoe and curd was wrong (three times as much curd as I could possibly eat) but apart from this the taste was good. The place actually is in a basement, so only a good idea to go there in the winter or when it´s raining. The waitress was nice. The price was rather cheap. If you don´t expect anything fancy, like meat and don´t care that some dishes aren´t homemade it´s a good place to eat.

entering this city you do not expect much of culinary outlets or places where you can eat when you arrive after 10 pm. Well, this place is an exception. It has welcoming staff and owner and in no time they serve you typical italian dishes, starters, etc. The choice of wine is not very big, which is normal, everybody always drinks beer in this part of the world. It is easy to park the car (since after 10 pm) nobody in town anymore. When it is a bit warmer , they even have a small Terrace where you can sit, but it was too early in the season to do that.

We interrupted our visit to the Domschatz to have lunch at St Stephanus Café next to the Dom. The tables on the Terrace were taken so we had our meal inside. Although the place was crowded we were served very quickly by a friendly waitress. The food was fantastic and well presented. After the meal the cook himself came to our table to ask if everything was to our satisfaction and was very pleased with our congratulations on his excellent cooking.

Wir waren mal wieder beim Schwejk.
Immer wieder gerne.
