Great reputation and recommendation from cruiser friends is why we came here. The GTC was amazing our first two nights then 35 catamarans from BucketLust arrived. With 350 partying kids packing the marina and blasting their electronic music until 5 am every morning for three days, it lessened our experience from what GTC’s provided to,its guests for years. One can only imagine what 3 marine shower and washroom stalls for men and women looked like. No need to describe.
In all fairness the GTC refunded us for 2 of the 3 nights for the disruption. My recommendation to them is if they wish to capitalize on this clientele is for them to sell the entire marina to them during their stay and advise incoming cruisers about the potential for this complete mayhem to avoid tarnishing their excellent reputation in the cruising community.
We will give GTC another visit as we have been assured this is a rarity that they will learn from.
Again, this place is amazing when run as it normally is.

During our one week stay in GTC, we frequented this family run restaurant for dinner. Harvey's offers daily specials in addition to their regular menu. You can always find healthy menu options in addition to the traditional Bahamian fried seafood which is quite tasty. We went three times and had excellent meals each time. Service is usually good but it pays to advise them ahead of time if you have a large party or special requests. The restaurant is fairly small and the food is made to order which is part of Harvey's charm.

Our group ate several dinners and two breakfasts at the Ballyhoo (formally Jolly Roger), during our week stay at Bluff House Resort. It was so convenient....just a simple walk down the road.
The dinners were all good. A couple of my favorites were the Caesar Salad and the Coconut Shrimp. At breakfast, we all had either the Traditional Egg breakfast or the pancakes....both very good. Of course, everyone is on island time, so don't expect to eat and run. It is a much slower pace here. We ended up having Macayla as our waitress several times at both the Ballyhoo and over at Tranquil Turtle Bar and Grill. She was wonderful and we all always looked forward to her smile.
The Ballyhoo is located right above the marina and has a wonderful view...both day and night. One night while staying at the BHR, there was entertainment on the deck at Ballyhoo. Music and dancing soon commenced....especially after a couple of Tranquil Turtles. :)
There is a large pool right next to the restaurant as well as a gift shop.... that is nice to have as well.
We enjoyed the Ballyhoo. It was not fancy, but it was nice and comfortable. If you are planning on eating outside on the deck...you may want to bring some bug spray with you. It did come in handy one evening when the bugs were bad.

The view is awesome. The food not so much. Ordered lobster quesadillas for dinner. When it arrived their was no lobster in it. My husband ordered pizza (how can you mess up pizza?) and it was awful. Disorno pizza beats theirs ! Much better places to eat on the island.

Extremely busy place. We frequently come to hear one of Kevin McIntoshes Performances. Rambunctious and very lively. Seating around the pool is limited. Basic food is available. The hamburgers are very good. Drinks are served very fast but that hamburger can take quite a while.
Tip: when you park your vehicle, a cart, plan on how to get the cart out so that you can leave smoothly.

Stopped by for lunch in this small cozy place. My friend and I decided to share the conch burger and the grouper Sandwich, so we could try both of them. The grilled grouper Sandwich was one of the best I have ever tasted! Moist and flavorful. The conch burger was also good. Both were served on bakery buns, soft and tasty. Complete with fries, coleslaw and beer, it was a very delicious lunch! The owner is also very friendly and we had a nice chat. It was off-season and we were the only customers that afternoon. They were closing at 2 pm but were to reopen later for dinner. When you go, make sure you check their schedule for the day.

Yes, you read that correctly. Plymouth Rock or the Liquor Store as my family lovingly refers to it is our first stop when we get to GTC. I always get the grilled cheese Sandwich with potato salad and cucumber salad. The potato salad and cucumber salad are to die for. I can never decide which I like better so I get both. My son loves the cracked conch Sandwich. The food is great, but it helps that you can get all of your drink needs met while awaiting lunch.

Especially to be mentioned: Santa’s little helpers
One is named Summer and is doing a great job. The other is her tasty cocktail creation called Santa’s Little Helper. We had a wonderful time there twice. We‘ll be back, with our children again. Thanks Summer for a great time at Leeward Yacht club.
Btw: the food is delicious and the Club is a place to stay many more times.

We have been coming to GTC for the past twenty years and have eaten at Two Shorty's many times over the past few years. If you want authentic Bahamian fare this is is the place to go. Great cracked conch and conch fritters as well as fresh homemade mac and cheese and cole slaw. My daughter always gets the Philly cheese steak and looks forward to it every time we come. Everything is home made and cooked to order. We usually eat at the outside picnic tables, but many people get their food to go. If you want a fancy pretentious restaurant, this is not the place for you. On the other hand if you want to talk to locals, experience the island flavor, eat great food, take the big portions home for lunch the next day, then give Two Shorty's a try.

The Wrecking Tree is located at the intersection of Brooklyn and Bay streets. When dining on their screened patio area you get to see all the local traffic.
We have strongly favored the bacon and grilled cheese sandwiches. They are generously put together and simply delicious.
