Generally a quiet place graced with lovely terrain for strolling, Glastonbury is very busy in the summer because of its music festival. Best known for contemporary music, the festival has attracted almost 200,000 people in recent years (whereas Glastonbury's full-time population is only 9,000 or so). There are a number of historical monuments to see in the area, including Glastonbury Lake Village, Glastonbury Abbey and the Somerset Rural Life Museum. We can't say that the weather is always good, but on a sunny day you can't go wrong!

Went on a Thursday for their curry buffet night. Welcoming staff and two real ales on the bar. Pappadoms and pickles to start and, on our visit, the curries were Burmese style - one chicken, one fish, one (unbelievably good) beef, one spicy vegetable accompanied by rice and naan bread. All very tasty!
Went the following Thursday for a drink en route to somewhere else and the delicious looking curries were Malaysian style, but couldn't stop. Will go again soon, though!

We had arrived in Glastonbury after driving for over 5 hours so just wanted something quick so we could go back to our digs and have a rest. Food was served quickly. We only had a veggie pizza (it was very nice) salad and garlic bread and a bottle of the house red so weren't big spenders and I did feel that the waiters were a bit dismissive because of this however the food was lovely and the service was quick.

We cook fresh, lovingly created dishes using organic ingredients and the best of local produce. We serve locally produced free-range meat, west-country fresh fish, and provide a vibrant menu catering for vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free diets. Our organic bakery produces artisan breads and divine cakes, biscuits and patisserie. We are open for breakfast and lunch seven days a week, and atmospheric evening service Thursday to Saturday.
The three of us were served promptly on a Friday evening, and all thoroughly enjoyed our meals. From curry style pollack and lamb dishes, to French chicken casserole, all were delicious! The food isn't particularly cheap, but is of high quality.

This traditional tea rooms is situated opposite the famous Abbey and looks onto the bustling and unique centre of Glastonbury. The place is warm and friendly with a great selection on the menu. The menu ranges from freshly cooked breakfasts to light lunches such as jacket potatoes and sandwiches and hot specials including: pies, roast lunches, homemade soups, salads and other traditional meals. There is a good selection of drinks including a range of wines, beers, ciders, local juices and soft drinks and a wide range of teas and coffees. The staff here are very attentive and welcoming! They were very knowledgeable about the Tea Rooms and the food and it was good to hear that the ingredients used are local and the food is all homemade! The tea rooms is also open on Thursday & Friday evenings offering a range of meals including European and international dishes which differs from the day. There is also a live harpist playing which gives a fantastic atmosphere to the place! The menu caters for meat eaters, vegetarians, vegans and people with various allergies as does the day menu which also includes a gluten free breakfast and gluten and dairy free cakes! On Sundays there is a traditional roast lunch served and the restaurant is always well booked on this day. A different meat is served each week on a three weekly cycle together with roast chicken and a vegan nut roast. The meat is always local and the vegetables are fresh and seasonal. There is also a large selection of homemade hot and cold desserts served with local clotted cream or ice cream to finish off your meal. This lovely Tea Rooms offers everything one could have asked for. A welcoming atmosphere, lovely food and fantastic staff! The prices are very reasonable and one gets very good value for money and they even offer outside Seating. The tea rooms offers an outside catering service and made decorated celebration cakes to order. This tea rooms is well wort a visit if you enjoy a good food and a friendly welcome.
If you want to taste a bit of tradition you must visit this tea room.

We came for a weekend visit to Glastonbury.
Not so much of a choice for eating but we ended up here after our first day.
We all ordered lamb shank and I have to say that that was good. Well done and tasty.
Wine wasn't that good but drinkable.
Place was quite packed so to me this is normally good sign because we were here outside tourist and visitor season.
Service was on good average nothing bad to say but nothing extremely good either. Place to eat, drink and enjoy.

Do you remember how good Fish & Chips used to taste? Well they still do - here! The same family has been serving Fish & Chips in this shop since 1909 - It is a Somerst Institution! AND you can have Wine, Beer or Cider with your Chips as they have a licence, AND you can sit down and eat it there in the shop, as its also a waited service restaurant! (booking highly advised for Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays!)

We are probably the oldest established fish and chip restaurant in the UK that has remained in the family through out its existence, as well as being the oldest established business in Glastonbury. We have the finest quality cod, haddock and plaice available, delivered daily from British ports, not to mention tons of Cambridgeshire potatoes prepared on site throughtout the year.

Apart from our takeaway section, we have a maximum Seating capacity of 82, including 12 in our courtyard area. We are also noted for our home-made fish cakes prepared on the premises every day. For the carnivore, pork faggots which are made especially for us by a local butcher. We have sausages and a selection of pasties and pies by a renowned producer, and a selection of chicken choices - Stacking Burgers, Jacket Potatoes and various Meat free options. We have a massive Restaurant menu that has various best sellers, lighter meals, kids choices, sharers, starters and lots of extras!

We have a drinks licence and offer a modest selection of favourite wines, draught and bottled beers and local ciders such as Wilkins farmhouse cider & Hecks farmhouse cider.
This is a very good fish & chip takeaway and restaurant, and an extra attraction for me is their stocking Roger Wilkins' excellent cider, a very tasty local drink. On this visit I was served a big portion of chips but I thought the fish a bit small. It could well be that many customers have smaller appetites than me so this might avoid waste. The fish was very tasty.
They stock some vegetarian dishes, but I only get to eat here when my vegan wife is not with me :(

This is my 3rd visit to Glastonbury but 1st here. In general I find Glastonbury restaurant prices highly overpriced but not here where the quality is high at an affordable price. We had the king prawn purée and mixed kebab starters, both delicious followed by chicken bhuna and chicken Afghani ( never had this dish before) all washed down with a bottle of Chenin Blanc. We couldn’t manage a desert too but left highly satisfied with the quality of the food, service and price

We are a family run business of over 28 years. All our food is Home Made in our kitchens with the best quality ingredients, ethically and locally sourced where possible.
I loved to 'create your own' brunch, with a vast array of tasty options to choose from and very generous portions. Excellent value and good service with none of the 'vegan attitude' that is not uncommon in some Glastonbury establishments... Very highly recommended.

We are a friendly vegetarian cafe in the heart of Glastonbury with an exceptionally beautiful courtyard that links to some of Glastonbury’s favourite shops. We offer daily freshly cooked specials and cakes and where we can, our products are organic and locally sourced. We cater for all varieties, including your four-legged friends! Hope to see you soon!
Sorry to say this but it has gone downhill since our last visit
1. Dirty tables and floor, cutlery dirty
2. Schitchel burger lacking flavour and boring use to be packed with flavour and other goodies over priced at nearly £6
3. Dogs at counter not left outside
4. Very slow service very pricey
Will not be returning
Must of changed hands
So sorry about review but so disappointed

Haven't done this for a few years now but, having visited the murmurations on the levels behind Glastonbury, then go on to have an early New Year's Eve meal at this restaurant - taking different friends each time. And again, was not disappointed and neither were my friends. Absolutely delicious food and the staff, as ever, are polite and attentive. So glad to have gone back after a break.
