The Belle Vue is a rather new restaurant in Belgium having a fantastic view over the city and sunset. The whole interior is very modern and exclusive in beautiful calm colours. The whole set-up is very appealing. We went twice as a party of 5. First time on a Saturday, which apparently is one of the busiest weekdays. We had the King Crabs, lobster, Angus Rib Eye, oysters and snails and the food was absolutely fantastic. Everybody loved his/hers choice of food. Only disadvantage was a rather unpleasant stench at the table, we were seated and the long waiting, which forced us not to have dessert. We went all again the Friday after, when less crowded. This time we had the veal and the bouillabaisse. Unfortunately the restaurant had not enough lobsters. For a Friday evening a surprise not to be able to order one of their best dishes. Second time the dishes did not live up to our first experience lacking lacking taste and the soup being a little cold. The stench was still around and we had to wait 2 hours for the main course. In these two hours we had appetizers and the first course, but that was still a very long time to wait, also considering this restaurant to be in the rather expensive end. Again, we gave up the dessert because of the long waiting. If not for the waiting and the stench I would have given 5 stars. However, we have not given up, and will return next year to try their seafood bowl :-) - maybe they have fixed the disadvantages. Also the hostess Sabrina was very friendly and forthcoming. If you love seafood, this place is absolutely one the best, we have tried in Belgium so far. Reserve a table at the window and remember to order lobster and seafood bowl in time to make sure they have it.

We stumbled upon this restaurant and what a pleasant surprise
The service was so friendly , personal and knowledgable and advised us well . The goose liver pate to start was the beginning of a wonderful culinary adventure . His suggestion of Hungarian wine was the icing on the cake . The goats cheese mouse was a surprising and lovely end to a very pleasant night, We plan to go back tomorrow night .

Geraardsbergen, being a real drawback, has not much to offer in the culinary field. The "verborgen tuin" is really an exception, especially if you put your faith in the hands of the chef. The menu is surprising, varied and delicate; so are the accompanying wines. Every time we came here, we discovered unknown dishes. Service is correct and relax.

We had a lovely dinner composed of 4 courses (the 5th course is a platter of cheese).
Inclusive the adapted wines, water and coffee we have been served for 165€ for two.
The chef is able in a creative way to make excellent combinations with fresh ingredients.
Portions are rather small but delicious. Service is impeccable. The Terrace is nice and quiet although in the city centre.
A lunch is served daily at a reasonable rate of 35€. Or a 1 course lunch costs 22€.
Yes, this is a nice place.

Excellent restaurant. Beautiful place. One of the best restaurants you can visit. Super all in menus. Price/quality is very very good. The service is perfect, not too slow, not too quick. Gentle personnel. I will certainly go back. Perfect, you cannot find better.

Ever eaten a great steak cooked on a wood-fire? Well, if you like this, you should try out this lovely and cosy place close to Geraardsbergen. Free and Annemie are no-nonsense hosts and will welcome you wholeheartedly.
Not a lot of choice but the meat is just fantastic and the fries perfect. Also, the side-salad is a nice treat.
Oh yes, and if you don't know 'Orange', just check out the statue in front of the restaurant, of one of the famous stallions that was at the base of the typical 'farm horse' race with the big feet...

Finally - a pizza made by Italians. The pizzas were just great with a thin dough and tasty filling. I had a pasta with aubergine and chili. Perfectly cooked and just the right amount of chili. I didn't have to add any salt, which happens rarely as most restaurants are rather conservative with the seasoning. I wish the place was bigger and with more light, so one could enjoy the dinner in more inviting surroundings. A lot of take-away activity. Next time we're in Belgium, we will definitely visit Il Carretto again!

Very busy Saturday night, yet good service and food. Looked the best non-pretentious restaurant in town. Excellent.

Best coffees, lattes and juices in town. Healthy and tasty breakfast and lunches. Cool ambiance. Try the pancakes, doppioccino, dark chocolate milk, all made with organic ingredients. Top!! When the sun shines, this feels like vacation, time for a cocktail ...
