I think it has to be accepted that Greek Taverna food is pretty good wherever you go,especially on the Islands but the menus tend to offer the same choices therefore when you discover a venue offering something a bit different or special in whatever way, then it has to be commended and Vassilis falls into this category with ease...of curse the menu offers dishes instantly recognizable but the way Vassilis presents the food is so much more stylish than the norm ...it is not cheap however but the location and quality merits the extra cost I would say !
Quayside location, excellent outside tables and a great ambiance helped by the ever friendly staff, not all of whom are Greek !
The wine list made for some interesting Reading while we ordered our dinner : a range from 380 euro bottles to carafes at 6.90....2 course dinner with aperos and a carafe was 64 euros....would go back most certainly.

Introducing Carnayo Restaurant, Gaios, Paxos, Greece As chef and owner I would like to take the opportunity to introduce myself and my restaurant to you and your guests. Paxiot born, my training was undertaken in Germany. Taking this knowledge and experience I returned to my homeland to o!er the best of Greek cuisine. Located in Gaios, the capital of the island, we can be found just 200 metres from the main square. Our kitchen is based on local, seasonal ingredients, a contemporary take on tradi)onal dishes. We are happy to accommodate group bookings and menus can be tailor made to your requirements. Our interna)onal clientele gives us the experience to provide excep)onal service and ensure that your visit is a memorable one. We look forward to mee)ng you. Spyros Tranakas and team
A place in a distance from the crowd, nice design. But it't empty and I understand why! House wine is disgusting (at least red). Menu is poor and expensive for the location. As for main course they didn't have enough portions to serve for everyone....MoreNo coment....... :0)

The restaurant is just across the road from the Paxos Club Hotel and well worth a visit. Whilst staying at the Paxos Club we, my wife and I, decided to try this restaurant out one lunchtime. As soon as we sat down, we were warmly welcomed handed menus and bought basket of freshly cooked home-made bread which was fantastic. Being lunch-time we gave the starters a miss and each ordered a main course each, both of which were freshly cooked and tasted wonderful. We would genuinely recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting the area which offers great home prepared and cooked food at very reasonable prices.

Ate here two evenings during our week in Paxos. The seafood, meat and veggie options were good quality and the setting very nice and cosy with Seating in narrow streets. The blue seats and tablecloths make it feel stereotypically Greek. The menu is quite extensive and has all the traditional favourites. It's very good for vegetarians. We liked the aubergine Imam. The octopus was very good on both occasions, particularly the first night when it was really tender. Service is genuinely friendly without being OTT.

In the centre of the town, next to the harbour this Taverna has an excellent situation to watch the boating world come and go while enjoying traditional Greek dishes. All homemade and wholesome. Service is traditional, as is the fare. All is very good. There are a wide selection of dishes, fresh fish and BBQ.

Genesis is situated opposite the Green Man statue a short walk from the main square of Gaios where you will enjoy beautiful views of Gaios Harbor, St Nicholas Island, the Island of Panayia (Virgin Mary) as well as views of Mainland Greece. Whether you visit Genesis during the day or the evening you can be assured of spectacular views in very pleasant surroundings .If you come by car it is easy to park.Genesis is a family owned taverna with Greek hospitality at its best. The menu is extensive, traditional Greek food and many other dishes, something for everyone to enjoy. The cafe bar serves a wide range of drinks, fruit salads, ice creams and various snacks. Genesis has the reputation of the best "Greek Doughnuts" on Paxos, you must try them.
Saturday nights are a particular pleasure as they include dancing - a mixture of professional Greek traditional dancing demonstrated and with audience participation.
Th food and service is reliably good and good value, especially as a starter of bruschetta and a sweet of crispy pastry balls in honey are usually provided as 'freebies'.
Very friendly service overseen by Alexandris and attentive and cheery staff. Great location at the harbour entrance.

Went once to have drinks and watch the sunset then booked to go back for dinner on out last evening.
The setting is amazing with views to die for.
We found all the staff very friendly with excellent service.
We loved the food. I had mussels followed by the prawn pasta which was so good. My husband had the special salad followed by steak which he said was delicious.
Expensive but worth it.

Small cafe / bar / restaurant on the oceanfront of Gaios, a town located on the island of Paxos in Greece.
We have just spent 2 weeks in Gaios and our only regret is not finding Cafe Italiano in our first week.
There are many eateries in Gaios but many of them serve the same dishes with little imagination or variation. At first it seemed a shame to eat at an Italian restaurant on a Greek island but this place knocked spots off the competition.
The prawn linguini is delightful with many other sea food dishes and superb ravioli, risotto and much more. The end of each meal saw a complimentary brownie for each diner.
The friendly, accommodating service also sets this place apart and frankly I cant recommend this place enough. Happy dining!

We always try to visit every time we visit Paxos. It is not the best taverns but always popular and the family try to fit everyone in even those that don't make a reservation, like our 4!
I think that in high season people expect too much from families trying to make enough money to see them through the long off season. Paxos is not the sort of place where you can easily recruit staff just for a few weeks so the pressure is on the owners, who do sometimes struggle. You are on holiday, just relax!
Our grandchildren both had the mussels which were finished off with 2 baskets of bread. We had the pork chop and the grilled squid. Both generous portions, very tasty and OK value.

We ate here twice we enjoyed it so much. The setting amongst trees is tranquil, the staff are friendly and attentive, and the food is excellent. The place has a lovely vibe to it. Will be back.
