Open 7 days. Coffee, brunch, lunch dinner. Craft beer, cocktails, pizza, famous SANDY doughnuts. Private functions also available.
Passing through Foxton and the beach we stopped at this roadside cafe, without expectations. But a delightful tasty meal of pulled pork with Tacos and spiced salsa followed by a cool beer was superb on a hot day. Although the decor is not flash, the service and meal was great and good value for money.
They can certainly pull the rabbit out of the hat!!

Mr Grumpys Takeaways has always been a local favourite, however, as of late the food can be very inconsistent. Majority of the time, the food is absolutely amazing, the best in town. However, sometimes it can be the very opposite which is a shame as it's location is ideal and the staff are very nice.

Had not been here for some time, so an overdue visit was required, especially after being let down by another cafe just up the road from Simply Balmy! Friendly waitress went out of her way to greet us and run through the menu specials. Drinks arrived promptly and the extensive menu offered all plenty of choices. Pricing was where it should be for cafe food and the quality vastly superior to other beach style cafes we had visited recently. Sport played on the big screen in the adjacent bar area, the garden cafe out the back was delightful and all in our party adamant they'd be back again for sure. Parking is awesome, atmosphere great, staff deliver friendly service with a smile and the bar area was great for some cold ones while the girls had a coffee outside...you must check this place out!

Dropped in for take-a-way fish and chips at lunchtime. On the main highway through town it seemed to be the only place open. Inside was very clean and staff were very attentive. Large take-a-way/eat in menu all reasonable priced. Good range of Chinese food, fish and chips, hot dogs etc. Small drinks fridge and a coffee was available. Price range from $2.00 to $40.00. Oddly there was a small pie/cake fridge on the counter which did not have much in it at all and what was there seemed dry and looked like it had been there a while. Seemed very quiet for a Tuesday lunch as we were the only ones there for the 20 minute wait. The fish and chips were cooked in Cotton Seed oil which flavour wise wasn't too bad. However, the fish was overcooked and the chips were dry. This suggests they turn the oil heaters down when there are no clients and turn it up when an order comes through. This was the problem with the dryness of the food and being overcooked. Sadly we wont be back for fish and chips. Recommend dropping into Sanson Take-a-way if heading that way.

All day breakfast and lunch menu. Cabinet food includes; fresh salads, rolls, BABCO pastries, croissants. Cold drinks, coffees and teas.
The Milky Whey cafe, in the sleepy seaside town of Foxton, is a locally owned, friendly cafe where the owners like to prepare good quality wholesome and interesting food (pastries, wraps etc) as well as kiwi lunchtime standards such as sandwiches or scones. We went on Valentines Day when she had prepared special cupcakes and also some superb merangues that tasted the old fashioned way - crisp on the outside with that bit of marshmellow chewiness on the inside - and only $1 each! The coffee is good. There are newspapers to read and friendly chat. The cafe is right in the centre of quite a few fascinating second hand and antique shops. Foxton is a nice stop if you are driving from Wellington northwards, or a regional jaunt from Palmerston North.

OFFICIAL PAGE FOR THE DUTCH OVEN, FOXTON de Molen and The Dutch Oven are part of The Windmill Trust Foxton. Located off State Highway 1 in the lower North Island's town of Foxton, The Dutch Oven offers a selection of both menu and cabinet food, including some Dutch favourites! We have a range of hot drinks, milkshakes, smoothies and fridge drinks available too. We bake and sell a range of breads using flour milled in our windmill (de Molen). A variety of our menu items also include our hand-made bread, baked right here on premises. We close our kitchen at 2.30pm daily so be sure to visit earlier if you are wanting to order from the menu. Cabinet food and beverages are still available after 2.30pm until closing.
Amazing breakfast with delicious Kiwi/British style menu options as well as some gorgeous Dutch favorites to try. We also ordered a Dutch dessert from the cabinet to compliment the good coffee and weren't disappointed. Clean cafe that compliments the Dutch history of the area with special recipes and decor, right outside the Dr Molen windmill & New museum. If you've got plans to do some traveling, the intercity bus stop is 20 metres away.

Situated inside Te Awahou Nieuwe Stroom. Cabinet food, range of hot and cold drinks available.
Good little cafe located in the new and impressive museum that features the Maori and Dutch history of Foxton. Dutch food on the menu, as well as Kiwi favorites. Coffee is decent and prices are moderate for cafe fare. Best for cabinet food breakfast or a quick snack rather than a sit down meal. Very clean, with booths that face the large glass windows and an array of newspapers to read. Good for families as the library with a kids space is right beside the cafe (inside the building).
