Organic Farm Shop & Cafe near Falkland, Fife, Scotland. Soil Association Certified. Home made Organic breads and cakes. Vegetarian cafe with vegan and gluten free options available.
Were really pleased to discover this wholesome little farm cafe serving local organic produce attached to a little wholefoods shop and with a herb and vegetable garden outside. Had some hearty soups and salads and felt very healthy afterwards so treated ourself to some cake. Service was friendly and coffee was good. Great rustic spot.

We are a family run business, serving great value freshly produced meals and using the best local, seasonal produce sourced from around Scotland wherever possible. At Pitlessie Village Inn, we are not only passionate about our food. We focus on giving you a whole dining experience: The warm, local atmosphere of our bar and restaurant, our extensive and varied drinks lists with something for everyone and the friendly, informal service you should expect every time you chose to visit. We think this makes Pitlessie Village Inn your "Local in every way". We look forward to welcoming you soon...
Party of 9 people. 3 starters ordered, only 2 arrive. On inquiring what happened to the 3rd one - answer "chef says it's finished"! Being told earlier would have helped.
Food - so, so. Game stew was supposed to be with potatoes/vegetables. Plate was lots of "some kind" of meat with a very watery gravy and a roll!!??. Again, on inquiring was told "potatoes/veg's are supposed to be in the stew" - alas there were none. Puddings -again one had run out, and ordered coffee was forgotten.
Bill included the missing starter; ouch.
Manageress was very apologising, problem with "first day staff", a small financial adjustment was made. However, overall very disappointing.
Should point out, on previous occasions, very happy with service and food standards. Hopefully, this was a "one off"

The Fettykil Fox in Glenrothes is a country pub & restaurant oozing rural charm and rustic character. Our picturesque surroundings provide the perfect backdrop for savouring the hearty, seasonal pub-food on our menu, and the carefully nurtured cask ales and fine wines gracing our bar.
I had been staying the night at the Holiday Inn Express next to Fettykil Fox and this was the ideal choice for my evening meal. We regularly visit the Snow Goose in Inverness which is part of the Vintage Inns group and so this encouraged...MoreDear Guest, Thank you very much for your kind words, it makes all of our hard work worth it. We look forward to welcoming you back soon, Kind Regards, Andy and the team

*Under New Management* As of February 2017 the premises has been under new management. With a brand new traditional British & Scottish menu home cooked by passionate Scottish Chefs using only the best Scottish fresh produce, a dog friendly cosy bar with a real log fire can be found here and a large beer garden with a BBQ and family friendly events organised each week. We have a seasonal menu for food & drink which includes a cocktail list of over 20 cocktails, craft beer and an extensive wine & Scottish gin list, all served by up and coming local hospitality trainees who are keen to learn and develop their skills.
Based on the good reviews we booked a last minute meal here. The booking was easy and I was asked if there were any special dietary requirements, so far so good. The waiter, Redmond, was excellent and appropriately attentive. However the food did not live up to expectation. The haddock was very average and my mushroom lasagne lacked flavour with a fairly insipid sauce.

We visited for lunch and were quickly seated at the window. We were also very quickly aware of a peculiar smell in the eating area, sort of fishy but certainly unpleasant. We also noticed that the cushioned base where we sat was quite heavily contaminated with large cobwebs (hardly a sign of a good cleaning regime). We left shortly after extremely disappointed in what looked to be a very quaint character filled establishment, although the Seating in the dining area certainly doesn’t fit that description

The Balbirnie Bistro, a charming and intimate great value restaurant, set within the original kitchens of Grade A Listed Balbirnie House. Our specialities are mussels, great burgers, salads, traditional and classic bistro favourites, steak frites, and sundaes.
I have been several times with family and friends as a couple and in small groups. The choice of menu is perfect, the service is friendly and professional. I love the setting of the old kitchen and this adds to the atmosphere. Never been disappointed in choice of food or wine. Hope to be back soon.

My wife and I called in here at lunchtime while wandering around Falkland. We decided to have the lunch meal deal, soup, roll, scone or cake and either tea or coffee. The soup we choose was lentil, or you could also have potato and leek. The scones were excellent as was the accompanying home made raspberry jam. Staff were efficient , and pleasant. A nice little place for a stop.

Very disappointed with our food we got last night. Service was good, phoned and ordered and collected- no issues. However, when we opened our tubs, both the chicken korma and tikka masala were like watery soup! .There was no thickness to the sauce at all and both of them had max 9 small pieces of chicken in them. Very disappointed in the view the price of each.
