Es Castell (Spanish: Villacarlos) is a small municipality in eastern Menorca in the Balearic Islands, Spain. The town was founded in 1771 by British Col. Patrick Mackellar and was originally called Georgetown in honour of King George III; however, it takes its current name from the large fort nearby, known to the British as St. Philip's Castle. Col. Patrick MacKellar (Argyllshire 1717-1778) was the chief engineer of Menorca and his house today is known as Son Granot. Es Castell celebrates its Foundation Day on 1 June with 18th-century themed festivities, in which the Municipality itself, St. Philip's Castle Foundation, Son Granot and other institutions participate.

We have had quite a lot of meals at Dinkums over the last few years. Excellent quality food, well cooked and presented. Peter, the quintessential English owner, is an excellent host, informative on the food and his desserts are delicious. We will visit again on our next visit to Es Castell

We have eaten at Trebol for at least 20 years when visiting Calas Fonts. The food and service are always consistently good, with a fantastic selection of fresh fish. The paella ordered for the last night was beautifully presented and a lovely dish. Good value for high quality food in a beautiful setting.
This restaurant gets very busy so sometimes good to book

El Chivito offers great salads, burgers, sandwiches, tapas - all really good. We always come for at least one lunch when we're visiting Menorca; can't say no to their patatas bravas and calamares. Patatas bravas - small roastie potatoes with a paprika sauce, really nice. Can get cosy, the guys like to ensure as many people as possible are fitted in on their outside patch - there's indoors available but it's usually a bit too warm and you want to be able to sit, eat, enjoy the location.

Loved the mussels and the fillet steak and peppercorn sauce was just how I'd ordered it. Very good all round. Oh and enjoyed the Sherry trifle too.

We ate here last night after Reading trip advisor positive comments about the place. We were not disappointed and have booked a return already.
It's always a good sign to see the locals walking into a place and last night this restaurant was packed.
All the staff were friendly and welcoming - I asked what was one of the most popular dishes they serve and was told the shellfish paella.
My son and I had it - it was so tasty and packed with all sorts of shell fish - very, very nice.

We found Bar Camacho looking for a tapas place in TripAdvisor and have to say it didn't disappoint. Very good tapas and sangria, definitely a must try.

We had put this down as a must visit restaurant during our stay in Es Castell as I thought it could (and still do) think it is probably one of the rare little hidden gems that you sometimes come across. When we arrived the restaurant was deserted. We asked if they were serving meals and was told yes and asked to sit down. This was where we started to get concerned. Not one table had been made up for diner service and when we were given the menu’s they were tatty and covered in biro marks. My heart said to stay and give it a try but my head said to try somewhere else so we reluctantly left. We visited in the first week of October so they may have been winding down for the season however the appearance of this restaurant when we visited did not give us enough confidence to stay and eat.

My husband and I went here 4 nights in a row. We shared a range of dishes and would not fault any of them. Such delicious food. Our favourites were the prawn skewers, artichokes, the cod and Russian salad. Most importantly you need to leave room for the best carrot cake we had ever eaten for dessert.
No where else we ate came close to this standard and it was such a bargain compared to the tourist traps. Highly recommend!!! But suggest you book.

Always visit here and we are never disappointed. The food is superb and the view is to die for. Recommend the patatas bravas, cod or ham croquettes, squid, salad etc etc. Reasonably priced, great wine, friendly fun service.
