Regional (Local German) & International Kitchen
We stopped during a cycling tour for a lunch at this restaurant we could see the river from the Terrace so there was nothing wrong with the location. Allthough we were quite hungry we did not like the food. The french fries were half raw and tastless. My crocket did not have taste at all.

We were very pleased with the friendly family atmosphere of the restaurant and its staff. Those dining with us were locals and when we said we wanted a good, simple meal, this was their choice! The pizza was excellent in taste, freshness and flavor as was the salad. Add a nice red wine and diner was great; just what we wanted.

The service is top. The food is homemade, delicious, and big portions. I approve! I am Greek - American and on a quick trip to visit my dear friends in Holland. We drove to Emmerich, Germany to eat at their favorite restaurant Achilles! Totally delicious and George treats everyone like family. Bravo!

Even on a Monday evening this restaurant was busy. We sat overlooking the Rhein in a heated Terrace. The Menu was extensive but not over complicated. The food, although French themed was more german in its presentation however the taste and flavours were excellent. The service was friendly the bill was very reasonable. Emmerich town is not attractive however the Boulevard makes a visit worthwhile.

We used to eat here regularly and liked it. The food was tasty, portions were big, prices very reasonable, friendly staff....but one day we found A FLY inside of our stuffed wine leaves....
That's right...a fly....and it did not just fall into our food...we found it after cutting the wine leave in halves....it must have gone inside during preparation.
We complained to the waiter who did not feel like apologies at all, in stead making a silly joke like "You must be lucky that you didn eat it..."
We never went here again, I have serious doubts about their level of hygiene.

Left Edinburgh at noon to Frankfurt
Arrived after 2000 in Emmerich and was guided by the hotel manager to try the Italian restaurant Pizzeria La Taverna
A short walk and on this cool winter evening
I enjoyed a great Italian meal
One thing got wrong!
They only had Merlot as open wine and this is not my favourite
However the meal was excellent and that made it up for the wine
Really can recommend this place to any lovers of Italian food

Since we came here the first time we keep returning, it is our we don’t want too cook but are very hungry restaurant. The menu is classic Greek restaurant, but the quality is good, the prices moderate and the portions “Hungry Man”.
The service is very friendly and the Ouzo is on the house. Don’t expect Michelin star kinda food, but it is well prepared and the quality is very good. I mostly eat lamb, that is tender and prepared how you order it. Red is Red, Pink is Pink. This is actually a problem in a lot of restaurant. No matter how you order your beef of lamb, it is always medium. Not so here.
Also try the baby calamaris, they are nice!

The Hotel-Restaurant Wanders in Elten is a family business which is now being run by the seventh generation and offers you excellent hospitality and gastronomy. The secret of our success lies in the 300-year long tradition, the passion for the local German cuisine and the warmth with which we make our guests feel at home. Tradition and a regional identity are important values for owner and head chef Theodor Wanders since they have in part made sure that Hotel-Restaurant Wanders is well known far beyond the region. For the a la carte dishes and the popular introduction menus we use fresh ingredients and always give preference to local and seasonal products. Be pampered by our Elten specialties such as asparagus, chanterelles or venison. For a delicious meal you can choose between the restaurant, the Gastwirtschaft or in the summer our Terrace. Here you will find everything under one roof: hotel, restaurant, rooms for events, a bowling alley, a summer Terrace and private parking.
We came into the restaurant at around 19:00 hours, and went looking for a table, the lady (well, she was no lady, but female anyway) behind the counter yelled at us "KITCHEN IS CLOSED"
Not, I am sorry gentlemen, but we closed the kitchen early, no, "KITCHEN IS CLOSED".
So, the food is worse than bad, it is not even served.
