I recently had a group business dinner at Restaurant Nooka in Helsinki, and I can honestly say that I left feeling that this was one of the single best meals of my life. What I think made this meal extra special is that this restaurant...MoreThank you for your amazing words of our lovely restaurant! Restaurant Olo treats you to a gastronomic journey filled with Nordic influence. It's all about the best ingredients and clear, modern flavors. Naturally wine plays an integral part in the dining experience. Our cellars are filled with interesting wines, including wines that are exclusively available at Olo. In our restaurant, you can feel the passion for work and food. Everyone in Olo shares that same feeling - love for food. That love and genuine warmth we want you also to feel as our guest. We have been awarded in Michelin Guide with one star since 2011. Welcome to enjoy!
With a layover in Helsinki, I only had several hours in town.
I chose Olo Ravintola to indulge. What a great choice!
What I liked:
- The local ingredients dictate the menu.
- The variety of flavours is unbelievable.
- The staff is incredibly knowledgeable.
What I didn't like:
- I had to rush off to the airport and skip 3 courses!
(This does give me a reason to go back though ;))
Tip:
Go. Really.
If you only eat at a Michelin star restaurant once in your life, choose Olo Ravintola.

Established in 1937, since then has restaurant Savoy served it's customers over the rooftops of Helsinki. Long traditions of using local produce, Alvar and Aino Aaltos simple nordic interior design and unique atmosphere are all part of Savoys unique appeal. Food getting inspirations of classics scandinavian and french cuisines. Dress code: smart casual
Designed by world famous Alvar Aalto and in intact condition since the opening in 1937. Admire the beautiful furniture while enjoying a sumptuous meal. If you are eapecially lucky you will be given Marshall Mannerheim's table where this great culinary connoisseur (among all his other gifts) often sat. Very professional and friendly staff.

A small traditional restaurant serving gourmet Finnish food with excellent service. We loved the whole experience which was not rushed. Recommend one of the set menus of four courses. Each one is beautifully presented and delicious. The service is fantastic - waiters wearing gloves and explaining each dish. An absolute must.

Very nice outdoor cafeteria in Töölö by the sea. You can get coffee of fresh bun etc. from the small red cottage. The style follows old countryside style. On a rainy day you simply get wet. There are not many customer seats and finding a good visiting time may prove a challenge. The area, however, is very nice and popular among people's outdoor activities. Sibelius monument is within walking distance and following the shore either north or south is a good walk on a sunny day.

Before visiting the House of Music in Helsinki we had a lovely dinner in Aito; a small place with a very homely atmosphere. The service was relaxed and friendly and also very efficient. We ate a three course meal from the menu: some cured horse with beans and cottage cheese to start with - excellent ! As main courses we chose pork and whitefish. All portions were immaculate; the pork side was especially delicious.
The considerate waitress suggested us to have some Finnish cheeses in between and we followed the hint. Finally it was time for a dessert: white chocolate with cloudberries and blueberries with rye crumble. Followed by a couple cups of fresh coffee they made this meal a perfect one.
Being a fine dining place this restaurant has a nice and easy-going feeling. We will definitely be back some day!

Next to shopping centre Kirsikka
Quite a find in a quiet suburb in Espoo. A wonderfully inventive and experienced chef, deliciously inspired French cuisine and a wonderful selection of wines including some from the only Finnish female winemaker in Bordeaux (who you might bump into).
We had artichoke soup with girolles and Apple (truly delicious), a delicious salad with an avocado base, followed up by steak (excellent) and artic char (meltingly soft).
The venue is relaxed yet upmarket. Pick a table that overlooks the bridge and the forest rather than the shopping centre.

We visited the restaurant in January. We were expecting a lot since we have read so good reviews. Unfortunately we were not very impressed. Service was ok, they did it with routine, same questions same comments to everyone, like robots were doing the job..
Food was good, but not very impressing. I think we would have been disappointed without the desert, which saved the day. We experienced firework of innovative citrus flavors. I do not know whether we were expecting too much or the kitchen was not having they best evening but something was missing.
I have to admit that they have reasonable prices which force me to give them four stars.

Family owned and run restaurant concentrating in local produce in the spirit of "cocina de mercado" - market kitchen. We believe service is what distinquishes restaurants. Food is an essential part of the service experience. Open Tuesday-Friday 16:00-23:00, Saturday 13:00-23:00, Sundays and most public holidays closed
Chose this restaurant for our wedding anniversary and was delighted by the menu - the starters, main courses, cheese, dessert and wines were all excellent. We tried both the fish (which on that day was 'nieriä', a species resembling salmon) and the meat (deer). The starter icluded three small tapas, all very tasty but if I would have to pick a winner it would have been the 'soup' made of cheese foam.
Everything was accompanied with splendidly matching wines, including some really spectacular ones, like the very dry cava and the tasty dessert wine.
The trick about Copas y Tapas is that you have to have flexibility about what you'll eat - you better book a table in advance and won't know the menu before you get there as it depends on season and availability of fresh produce. So you have to be adventurous and be prepared to try new flavours. We realised that many of the portions sounded like ones we wouldn't normally try if we had to pick them from a menu, but were really glad to have tasted them as part of the overall experience.
The waiter serving as was really friendly and shared stories of the wines we were tasting.
