Every time when being in Frankfurt, having dinner at Luigi`s restaurant, “Neuer Haferkasten” is unavoidable. An extraordinary choice of fresh fish and beef combined with great pasta and other accompaniments make every visit a great pleasure. Despite the “usual food“, Luigi offers for lunch special menus, which ensure a good price-performance ratio. Especially in summer times, the fantastic garden is a great argument for having lunch/dinner at this place.
Besides the lauded food and ambiente, the personal is always friendly and very attentive.
All in all, Luigi does a great job while trying to fulfill every wish of it`s clients.

Got here after browsing M guide and booking through my concierge guaranteeing my reservation with my AMEX. As soon as I got, got impressed by the lovely countryside building. Interesting menu .. made of minuscule portions without the option of asking for an additional service ((!!!) Water menu inclusive of a exclusive Amador bottled water, decent wine pairing but aside from the Catalan lady the young local sommellier answered me back to a remark ( To a customer UNACCEPTABLE) and such a restaurant offers Ronnefeld and unknown Japanese tea and not Ippodo or Fukujen.. The food is good but not exceptional when compared to the one enjoable around in Gourmet Catalunia places.

You probably aren't in Lagen as a tourist; you are probably visiting one of the many businesses located here, as I was. There did not seem to be many culinary choices near us, but we found this one, which I would rate as "worth a special trip."
The waitress dealt patiently with our inability to understand only a litlle German; if you don't know any German at all, take a phrase book, or a German, along with you.
Everyone in our party of four was very pleased with their choices. I had a dish of chicken livers prepared perfectly in a magnificent sauce. If you find yourself anywhere near this place, go there.

went there with some colleagues and truly had an enjoyable evening
rather small but sufficient menue, quality instead of quantity
great starters, especially the sword fish with wasabi
filet as main course also was excellent, hard choice since the Tafelspitz was also very tempting
friendly and attentive service
filet as the main selection was outstanding
wine selection shows the owner's heritage, he is austrian (from vienna to be accurate!)
we had a "banfalu" cuvee from Sepp Moser
Krombacher Pils on tab, comes at the right temperature and goes down good
easy to find and parking is no problem
surely we will be back

This is a fantastic looking restaurant and from how busy it was it is certainly popular. Despite how busy it was the staff were on top of everything, which is no small thing!
Was the season for roast goose, it's just a shame that the hotel I was staying in served me the same thing the night before but it was still very nice.
Great venue good food and great service. Worth a detour to visit but ensure you book.

This is our third time to this restaurant while visiting relatives. As on previous visits we found the food, service and atmosphere very enjoyable. The menu while not extensive as some, offers authentic German food including regional specialities. Good beers and wines. English language menu available. Service is friendly and efficient given the place is always packed and seems popular with groups. An authentic, bustling, loud, cheerful German dining experience. If you want to try that, then Apfelwein Foehl delivers in spades but while they will always try to find you a table, I would strongly advise booking to avoid disappointment.
Unfortunately our relatives will leave Germany in summer, so we will need to find an excuse to travel back for a meal. It would be worth the trip.

We went here randomly for a business dinner, and it was probably the best decision for this area! Great staff and very attentive service. The waiters were kind enough to to explain the menu since no one in our group was native German. The food portions were just the right size, for an area where enormous portions are a norm! I'd definitely visit this place again!

If you are looking for an old German traditional restaurant around Frankfurt, then this is the place to visit.
The guest is transported back to the past. Nothing has changed from the interior design to the service personnel. One is greeted at the door by a rather "chubby" manager to the back of the restaurant where he hangs up your coat and issues you with a little numbered ticket. Reminded me of my opera visits. Anyway, the food reflects good, old German cuisine served on a large silver plate wheeled to your table by a stiff waiter. Again, I could not help but think of the film "Dinner for One". The atmosphere, our waiter, the food just transports one to a historical period where all time stands still. There is absolutely no eye contact or friendly conversation between guest and service personnel. One is truely transported to an era of bygone days.
If you are paying with American Express or other credit card you will need to go to the restaurant kitchen to pay. Unfortunately, their card machines only work in the kitchen.
As I say, be warned. This is not your typical German restaurant of modern times. But the food is good, service personnel perhaps on the heavy side and the ambience is old-German style.
Dogs are most welcome of course. And after a heavy or light meal, take a good stroll around the lovely pedestrian walkways around the golf green and enjoy the lovely nature around you.

My husband and I visited this very nice place several times during our stay in Dreieich in May 2012. The service was always outstandingly friendly, quick and polite. Very professional but also with a human touch and time to take care of their customers.
In the evenings this is a nice place to come for a cocktail or two, they have a good selection of long drinks and very good whiskey selection, too. Nice atmosphere and very welcoming. We came here many days in a row and always chose something different from the menu, everything was very good and always nicely presented. The Sunday brunch with friends was a big hit - everybody in our party of 12 was very happy with their food. Great coffees!
Also, this is a dog-friendly place, which we loved. We sat outside with several dogs on a very sunny and warm day and waiting staff almost immediately brought fresh water and even some kibble for the dogs.
At the back of the restaurant, there is a nice small private patio, perfect for warm summer evenings when you don't wanna sit inside.
We can highly recommend this place and hope to be back in the future.
