Couldnt book table till 8.30pm. Then waited hour and 15 mins for starters!. Not even olives/bread available to nibble on. We asked!
Eventually asked if easier to cancel the order.
Starters average. Pate etc. Not hard to prepare.
Mains ok. Bit passed it all tho by then. But big let down on the burger. 2 titchy patties in a bun. Not worth it. Skin on chips not great.
Gave us a free bottle of wine when main arrived but we'd already had 2 due to a long wait in there. Would have been better to take 1 off our bill and the starters! But paid full bill. After almost 3 hrs we just had to go!. Too long and drawn out. Didn't even have dessert or coffee.
Real shame as I personally had good expectations.
Bad luck that night maybe.

81 Beach Street is our celebration of what makes good restaurants great - fine food without the fuss.A cross between a restaurant and a bistro we offer an eating experience that goes beyond the need for nourishment.Enjoy the simple things of great food, good chat and great people.Fine food without the fuss.
An enjoyable Sunday lunch with good food in pleasant surroundings although the service from our waiter could have been more attentive.
I know they were busy but I counted 5 serving staff downstairs, so no excuse really.
On the plus side we never felt rushed which always makes for a relaxed atmosphere.
I would say that given the choice of places to eat in Deal and Walmer this is one of the better restaurants.

I love the Three Compasses restaurant. The first time I walked in there it felt like home. A friendly and welcoming place. The staff are fantastic and are completely accommodating with any type of dietary requirement. The food is outstanding and the atmosphere wonderful. The restaurant I returned to for my birthday meal a few months after first eating there.

We rolled into Dunkerleys after a full-on day of local history and sightseeing. Fortunately blessed with a lovely sunny late afternoon, it was one of very (maybe only) appealing places still serving food and we were able to sit on the sea facing front Terrace.
The mussels were excellent, I had their on-tap kopperberg cold cider and it all went down a treat. Friendly efficient service and £1 a plate cheaper than nearest competitor who closed their kitchen 5 mins after we arrived - their loss was ours and The Dunkerleys gain!

A beautiful, cosy olde pub with a welcoming atmosphere. We weren’t expecting the kind of quality food that arrived at all. It was fantastic. A lovely set meal lunch choice, big portions too, 2 courses for £10. I had the naked burger which was actually two burgers (bonus) and the fish cake was so fresh with no potato, all fish. Lastly, the service was quick, excellent and friendly. We took our dog and child and they could not have been more attentive and helpful. Loved it.

The Dining Club although now established for 7 years, is a new style of dining venue. It is unique in that you book a table and will be seated in individual dining rooms that feel more like a private dinner party than a restaurant - Proprietors Scott & Suzanne Roberts offer unrivalled hospitality that can be a discreet or familiar as your company requires. Scott (Head Chef & Proprietor) has been cooking for over 20 years and has previously won 2AA Rosettes for 6 consecutive years whilst running his family owned hotel in Boscastle, North Cornwall. Wife, Suzanne (Front of house & Proprietor) has been in the hospitality industry for 25 years and will provide a warm, friendly welcome and ensure that your experience compliments the food
The Dining Club is held in an authentic Georgian house with three or four separate dining rooms, each with maybe about three or four tables of diners, so quite an unusual concept which makes for an atmosphere somewhat different from your normal restaurant experience. There is only one menu (plus a veggie option) which you can see in advance before you decide to book.
I was impressed by the quality of the food and thought it quite reasonably priced too. There was a lot of thought put into the presentation. There is no alcohol licence (small corkage charge) so this also makes for a reasonable price. I was rather unsure of the system, not being a Deal native, and was slightly wary about having to 'join' the club for a £10 joining fee (not sure if this annual) but on communicating by email with the proprietor, was told that this was not necessary if a 'one off' and 50% of the price was paid in advance.
I was particularly impressed that, having informed them that one of the diners was pescatarian, they had prepared a fish main dish specially for her (the main dish was Guinea Fowl) instead of just giving her the vegetarian option.
So we got 5 courses for £32.50 plus a little extra for corkage and mineral water. There was only one course I didn't particularly like, so overall I was impressed and would definitely go again if in Deal.

Beautiful country pub cooking fresh to order food. Eat in our bright restaurant overlooking the garden, in the bar area or in the garden. Extremely well stocked bar. We cater for meat lovers, vegetarians, allergies and children. We are also dog friendly. We can do large tables, parties and we have a stunning Kentish Barn for weddings.
After deciding we were hungry we followed the brown signs to The Crown, we walked in and were greeted by friendly bar staff, seated and given menus. We quickly decided on our choices and gave our order to the attentive waitress. Shortly after our food arrived, we both had lamb navarine and it was really tasty, lots of meat and served with fresh vegetables. We had to wait a while for the table to be cleared, but not unreasonably so, and said we would like to look at the dessert menu when offered. But it never came. The staff member went back behind the bar, the served someone, then stood at the bar while some regulars chose what they wanted to eat, chatted to other customers who were known to her. After about 15 minutes we decided she had forgotten about us, paid and left. It was a real shame as we were definitely intending to have a dessert.

Even though Middle street is the place to visit, this place escaped us first time. Luckily this time recommended by our hosts.
A lovely little restaurant at the back, and fish bar in front, excellent house wine and nice staff but the fish & chips are outstanding, easily compared to Aldeburgh. Generous portions cooked to order, no flat thin tail end of fish here, nice chunky portions, fish & batter that melts in the mouth. You'd be mad to go anywhere else. They are not open lat, so check hours, you won't be disappointed.

never been to Kingsdown before but we where in the area for a meeting in the afternoon. Pub does allow dogs but well behaved. Breezy, cold day on the beach - enter the pub, lovely chatty atmosphere and a warm fire. We went on Thursday lunchtime very busy (maybe pension day) - they do take Reservations but we were lucky as someone had just left. Staff very friendly and welcoming even though they were very busy. Did not have long to wait for the food - Tuna Sandwich for the Missus and the beef and bacon burger for. The Missus enjoyed her Sandwich and the salad that cam with it. My chips were lovely and golden. The hamburger turned out to be two beef patties with proper bacon between them. The meat had been char-grilled. One of the best burgers I have had in Kent - mind really struggled at the end. I heard another commenting that his pie was very good. In fact everyone in there seemed to be enjoying themselves and afterwards saying much thanks to the staff. Only gripe is there could be a few more options on the smaller lunch options like a soup or prawns maries rose Sandwich as my Missus does not like a large lunch and is veggie but eats fish as well. But as mentioned only a small gripe from what was a very pleasant experience.

Visited here with work colleagues (friends!) for lunch in early December. We asked to sit in the bar area which was more cosy at lunchtime. We opted to eat from the al a carte menu and all eight of us had three courses. The food was very good and cooked beautifully. I opted for Gambas Pil Pil, Steak in Port and Stilton sauce, with Creme Brûlée for dessert. Wine and drinks were good, service of food and drink was attentive and timely. We all thoroughly enjoyed our lovely lunch and would recommend a visit!
