This humble little restaurant only does two things (grilled chicken and grilled lamb), but they are absolutely delicious, the plates are huge, and the price is dirt cheap. It has become well known in the whole area and you have to reserve ahead in the weekends if you want to get a table!

Nice place, chosen from Tripadvisor reviews, but nothing to compare to the service of
Zascandil (number 1 in tripadvisor, see my review).
We had reservation but it was pretty empty when we came.
We had a decent local wine but they have no clue how to properly open and serve a bottle of wine (the need some training), specially when you have wines up to 320 euro the bottle you really need to know how you open and serve wine.
The food was great, but portions are really big by careful if you do not share and what you orde, recommend the local meat excellent.
Bad part of this visit was when the place was getting full, every 5 minutes we were asked if we need something more, and even telling us they needed the table for others. Now that is the worse thing you can do, specially when someone had reserved. I found this rude and extremely bad service. If you want to keep the second spot you need to change this attitude and gives your personal some training how to cata un vino.

This is a great place to eat while in Ciudad Rodrigo. The environment looks very typical of a Spanish restaurant, the menu is great, with many options, from traditional Spanish dishes to the famous tapas, gazpacho, etc. Everything was delicious, the staff was very helpful and friendly. All in all a great experience. Highly recommended.

There is very little information on TA for restaurants in this town. We settled on Estoril, the restaurant is very appealing and I watched a video interview online with the chef. The restaurant has no English menu so we took our iPad and translated the menu. This took almost an hour during which time we were not approached by the staff apart from providing us with WiFi.
A large group arrived at about 9 pm so we were pleased we had settled on our order. The staff were very friendly and accommodating, the chef actually occasionally appeared in the restaurant. They have a set menu which includes everything for 28 euros but we decided to have a la carte which is quite pricey. I ordered the suckling pig served with peach for 20 euros and my husband ordered the tornado for the same price. Both dishes were specialties of the region and mine was very tasty, something I have never eaten before. My husband's steak did not resemble a traditional French or Australian version of Tornedo and he was disappointed. The waitress who spoke no English explained that the meat was Raza Morucha from Salamanca, a prized grass fed beef but unfortunately it did not compare to Australian beef.
Overall we enjoyed the meal but felt the mains were overpriced.

Excellent family bar (restaurant). Fresh chorizo and serrano ham sliced right in front of you. House wine is good too as well as the bread.
They'll make serrano and/or chorizo sandwiches to go. About 5 euros each. Then you get pastries next door....I wanna go back.

This is a perfect little spot for your lunch in CR, just round the corner from the main square, tucked into a narrow sidestreet with a few outside tables. Our waiter was professionalism itself, helpful , prompt and friendly. We didn't want anything too heavy on a warm day, and as vegetarians I was served up maybe my best dish on my trip to Castile and León, three pieces of toast garnished with apple sauce, goat's cheese, caramelised walnuts, fresh fruit and a scoop of lightly chilled cream cheese (I think). Lord, it was delicious. My wife asked if they could do her a simple dish of grilled boletus mushrooms, and they did. We tried a couple of crisp white wines, and when I couldn't make my mind up over my second glass, the waiter, rather than merely advise, opened a couple of bottles to let me taste. The whole place, the service, the ambience, gave me the idea that all the food they provide is of a high standard. A perfect lunch break in a fascinating town.

We ate here for dinner on both nights of our stay. The restaurant had beautiful views across the Rio Agueda and valley. We had fish and 1 night I had their special ribs, delicious and enough for 2 people. Window tables are on a first come first serve basis.

The day after their 4 day Toro carnival and the number one restaurant is closed so wandered around and chose Mayton for its impressive entrance. Being English we were the first in about 8.30. no English but we got by and the food was served quickly and was very wholesome.
