Castro Verde (Portuguese pronunciation: [ˈkaʃtɾu ˈveɾd(ɨ)]) is a town and a municipality of the Alentejo region of Portugal (in the historic district of Beja). The population in 2011 was 7,276, in an area of 569.44 km. Castro Verde is situated in the Baixo Alentejo subregion, within a territory known locally as the Campo Branco (English: White Plains). The municipality can be recognized by the local municipal markers along its borders, that appear within its borders to denote its reference as A Window on the Plains; municipal markers appear as stylized house profiles, with an exaggerated window that allows the visitor to see through into the panorama.

Despite having been in this village many times previously in our hunt for sightings of the great bustard, we have not eaten here. We had the days menu which was only €11 each and was bread, olives, choice of five main courses, pudding, drink and coffee. My partner had a typical Alentejo main course of beans and pork stew while I wishing to be different had hamburger fried egg and chips! There is also a good a la carte menu too. A really nice dining area and quite busy for a weekday lunchtime. A good choice and well worth the visit if you can find it!

Visited for the second time while staying with our friends in Ourique. Exactly the same as our first visit, more staff, and the food and service was excellent. I had the same as my last visit, salmon with black pasta in a creamy sauce, superb. All the other courses were spot on as was the very inexpensive house red.
A must visit restaurant if you are in that area.

Lovely nice Pizza house and friendly run family business. Always nice hot pizza made by order. Been there for more than 10 times and I Recommend the one with cod. If you are in Castro Verde and fancy a pizza just go there and order one and the" bica"=espresso are great. Close at Monday. Hope you enjoy like I did.

Probably the best place to sample a typical Portuguese "prato do dia" in Castro Verde. Not only does it have a good choice, usually at least six different main courses for lunch, but it is outstanding value at just 7.5 euros for cover, main course, desert and a drink.

It's early days so hopefully, it can still improve. The interior décor is one of its best features. Externally, it has great potential with a large outdoor area but the furniture needs to be more modern and welcoming. As a tapas bar it's average with a limited choice but second visit was better than the first in terms of quality. The toasted sandwiches and burgers are ok.
Great it offers a selection of wines, something lacking in other bars in the area and it has a good selection of spirits. Unfortunately, the service is somewhat slow.
We have had similar reports from our guests but it's worth supporting because it wouldn't take that much effort to make it better.

This is our second visit to this delightful little restaurant. Although not the cheapest the food is delicious with huge portions and extremely well prepared. All the staff were very kind and attentive and it was definitely a meal to remember. Would definitely return as their lamb dish was amazing!!

We discovered the restaurant through Tripadvisor in the middle of a trip and decided to try it out. Simple restaurant with good service. Food well cooked and very tasty. Highly recommend.
