Truly delicious Michelin star restaurant that will surprise you with great intepreations of the traditional Sicilian cuisine. Must try the octopus starter (served in a bed of mash with capers pine nuts and tomatoes), the tagliolini with mazzancolle (to die for) and one of the great desserts. Happily the restaurant had a glass of Amara as a digestif. Will surely come back again.

Have been to this restaurant a Cooke of times and my friends are regulars. Pre orders the cured seafood starter and go hungry- there is a lot of interesting fish. Nice pasta Great wine recommendations from Sicily. Very reasonably priced

La Scala is directly entered from the huge staircase that is Caltagirone's main attraction. We figured it would be a tourist trap, but we were wrong. The homemade pastas were excellent, especially the Sicilian pestos (these feature pistachios, wild fennel, and whatever the restaurant offers). Pleasant atmosphere in midafternoon.

A restaurant that prides in traditional Sicilian food including a starter of red tunafish arranged in the shape of the map of Sicily. The setting is pleasant, especially in the garden. A large variety of dishes and wines. The cooking is percise, the owner is very attentive and the service is good. Highly recommended

The Planet Risto-Pub is located in the historical center of Caltagirone. Offers its customers a consolidated service based on traditional Sicilian cuisine restaurant, an American bar stocked with the best and most popular cocktails in town, a room for events, parties, banquets. In addition you can choose between full daily menu and the menu card Tourist.
We stopped here for lunch as it was the only place that appeared to be open around 12:30pm in the area. We were the only ones there the entire time - maybe people have lunch later? The menu was very reasonably priced and the quality was good. We had arancini (they come 4 per serving, small ones) and I had the caprese salad. Others has panninis or pasta dishes and said they were good. Service was a little slow considering we were the only ones there. The bathroom was confusing - no real toilet seat and they shut off the water so you need to turn it back on to flush the toilet each time. This seems to be a trend in Sicily!

We get to this restaurant by recommendation of the local souvenir seller, and found culinary gem. All the dishes from starters through the main course were delicious.
The waiter explained us in details about every dish. The service was great and quick, prices were reasonable. The restaurant had very nice decore. We had dinner on the rainy day, so the place wasn't so full, but it probably get busy on evenings and on the weekends. Don't miss fistachio ravioli!!!

Very friendly service
Delicious traditional Sicilian food in abundance
At a VERY reasonable price.
We were a group of 21 persons and opted for both the meat and fish set menus.
we were greeted with grissini and home made bread, water and Sicilian wine. Antipasto followed and for the first course we were given delicious home made ravioli.
For the main course , both the sword fish and the meat were in abundance and mouth watering. Contorno accompanied the main courses.
Everything went perfect with this dining experience and would greatly suggest it to everyone visiting Sicily

Fairly basic pizzeria and taverna. Nothing special. But to be fair, it is reasonably priced and the food is ok. One pizza, one pasta dish, a beer & a coke for around 20 euros isn't bad so if you're on a budget maybe it is worth seeking out in it's neither here nor there location between Caltagirone's old and new towns. And it does have free wifi too. But personally I wouldn't recommend it.

well, as an Italian couple living in the UK, it was a fantastic experience to visit Sicily in June to get some heat and some fabulous wine and food... it is not automatic however, you have to look around and be lucky... compared to other Italian regions (e.g. Tuscany, Piedimont, Umbria, Apulia), in Sicily good wine is quite pricey at supermarkets. This tirade about wine is just to say that at "la casa degli Angeli", a "simple" red carafe (Cerasuolo) wine was very very good, produced in a farm nearby. This wine (together with white) was included in a VERY reasonable, if not offensively low price for an N-courses (i don't even remember the total number of dishes) amazing Sunday Lunch: a couple of hours of purely Sicilian cousine from appetizers (which would feed you for a couple of days according to normal day standards) to desert (fabulous pastry with ricotta) and espresso. Folks, you CANNOT miss this place. The country-house is also beautiful, restored to perfection, in a beautiful setting, and the owners are elegant, chatty and friendly people. I only regret I have not slept there for a couple of nights.

the trattoria Anima e Coreis in the heart of the historical center of Caltagirone and offers specialties of meat and fish dishes all prepared according to the rules of the traditional Sicilian cuisine
This restaurant is tucked away in a quiet piazza not far from the center of Caltagirone. Excellent quality seafood dishes, a wide variety of Sicilian wines, and creatively prepared grilled vegetables. Customers mostly local families. Staff and service were great, prices reasonable. Highly recommend.
