Award winning Pie Shop,Restaurant and Coffee Shop
In 70 + years, (apart from my grandmother`s), I have never experienced pies like these. The pastry is soft, tasty and crumbly, & amazing to the senses. The fillings, well, so tasty, and much choice for vegetarians and meat eaters. It is a great pity they are so far out, on a twisty, lonely road to Lochinver. We are local now & have just been able to discover this place fully. A gem. Amazing. Even though its 50+ miles away. We go home loaded and happy..

Award winning Highland restaurant serving local ingredients in contemporary dishes. Organic wines, North Highland whiskies and Cairngorm beers, unpretentious food and a true Highland welcome. Booking always recommended!
Our b&b owners recommend this place to us and they were not wrong. Great local ingredients and superb flavours. If I was being super picky , my venison could have been a tiny bit warmer but as it needed to be served medium rare I can understand why it wasn't piping hot. This is not enough to make give it less than five stars. Two great tasting three course meals that were also very reasonably priced. Glad we made the drive from Dornoch.

My wife and I were on holiday and decided to try this place. It was my wife's birthday and our last night of the holiday. Couldn't have picked a nicer place. What a gem. Lovely relaxed atmosphere. Wine from practically any bottle could be ordered by the glass.
The food was lovely. The calamari in tempura was cooked to perfection as it wasn't in the least but chewy. The scallops, prawns and chorizo linguine was the best I've tasted and they certainly didn't skimp on the seafood as some places do. The staff were attentive without being over bearing.

Wonderful location overlooking the Loch and the wee jetty from where the boat leaves every forty minutes taking people over to Handa Island.
Downside was we arrived about 10.30am looking for coffee and a Sandwich before our boat trip and this place doesn't open until 12.00noon for some reason.
So, we are back at 4.30pm after a day spent circumnavigating the Island and watching the proliferation of wildlife.
Off the boat straight into the café. We heard the Dutch couple on the next table order a prawn salad and a prawn cocktail, "no worries" exclaimed the waitress only to return a minute later to advise they only have enough prawns for one of the meals. This is a fish restaurant open until 9.00pm.
We ordered a tasty looking apple pie coated with a caramel topping. It arrived having spent several minutes in a microwave oven looking like a model of a derelict Scottish Castle.
Enjoy the views but this place could and should be a Gold Mine, reduced hours, limited menus and poor presentation let it down badly, saving grace is there is nothing else around for miles.

This was a delight to find such a good bistro in Wick. The outside of the building appears dingy and a wee bit off-putting but the welcome inside is excellent and this more than makes up for it.
The menu is excellent, the fish dishes are varied and delicious.
I will definitely be back.

When we last had lunch here, thirty years ago, the soup and sandwiches were so awful we have avoided it until very recently. We had heard of it’s transformation from family and friends. They were not wrong. Our soup was superb and the fish dishes being served elsewhere looked delicious. This is food of a very high standard indeed and the restaurant is deserving of its reputation. What a wonderful change from thirty years past!

Return visit to Lairg after a thirty year break (for one of us anyway).
Food in Scotland (as elsewhere in the UK) can vary enormously but this really was a brilliant place.
It's sandwiches, cakes, burgers, soup with the odd blackboard special - all really well done.
Really excellent ploughman's (3 cheeses, proper ham, pickles etc). Good quality chicken coronation Sandwich.
Locals clearly love it because it's probably one of the better places for miles. Homemade ice creams, great-looking cheesecakes.
4 stars because would've liked just a few more options for lunch rather than a burger or sandwiches but it is excellent. Nice side salads, coleslaw. Lovely view with tables outside for summer.

An amazing, friendly place to eat fantastic food with a view that is out of this world. Garlic Hearth Bread and delicious smoked salmon salad as a reward for the climb back up the equally impressive cliff side steps - well worth a visit, check...MoreSo glad that you enjoyed the food, we know we can be quite hard to find (long story there), but really appreciate everyone who makes the effort to find us. Thanks again, K

Stopped here on the way back from john o groats to Invergordon, so glad we did.
I had a kingrib supper with single black pudding and the chips where the best chippy chips I've had in a long time. Also the batter was fresh and crispy just the way I like it.
Kids had chicken nuggets and chips and they all scoffed it.
One had cheese pizza and no complaints.
Highly recommend this place, theirs also a restaurant next door, would definitely return
